We were disappointed to read this review because it leaves out important details about the stay. The additional $500 was not a surprise charge after check-in. It was discussed and agreed to because the guest requested permission to have a small group of friends visit for her birthday. Unfortunately, the gathering became much larger and more disruptive than what had been represented. There was drinking, smoking, and loud partying into the early morning, and at approximately 3:00 a.m. we had to ask the group to lower the noise. We have messages and video documentation supporting our account of what occurred. Our dogs are clearly disclosed in the property description, so their presence should not have been unexpected. The comments about privacy also do not fairly represent the situation or the disruption caused by the gathering. Lawn-care workers were present only to perform routine property maintenance during the day. We always try to be accommodating and want our guests to enjoy their stay. In this case, we made an exception based on the understanding that this would be a small birthday gathering. Had the event been described accurately beforehand, we would not have approved it. We regret that the stay ended this way, but we believe it is important for future guests and hosts to understand the full context.
