This house had an ant problem that we documented within the first few hours in the home. We were faced with decision to stay in the house with ants on the counters and in the dishes marked sugar, coffee, flour, etc . or check out early. We didn't trust that if an obvious ant problem was missed or ignored that we could feel comfortable in the condition or cleanliness of the rest of the home.

The inside of the house was very clean, very well appointed, the kitchen was new, and the appliances worked great.The host was very speedy on returning inquiries and kept us informed about the check in and check out process. There was plenty of closet storage space, clean towels, and the kitchen had everything we needed, except we found it a little sparse on glassware, and the dining room table chairs were extremely uncomfortable as they sagged in the middle.The mattresses were extremely hard, but the linens and pillows were clean and crisp.The dishwasher was out of commission on the day we arrived, however, we were immediate informed of that as soon as we arrived. The backyard is very spacious with lots of cozy sitting areas, a fire pit, trampoline, kids play area and a sunroom. The interlocking brick in some areas was raised up, creating trip hazards and there were weeds growing everywhere. The landscaping in the backyard needs some improvement, but we were very thankful for the pool during some very humid days. We found the price for this property very reasonable, if you are not looking for perfection. We also loved the location as it was closer to the outskirts of St. Thomas and a very short drive to the Elgin Centre as well as Port Stanley.
