About this property

Corporations & Business Groups enjoy the Mountain View Family Chalet & Beach

This Beautifully Lit Swiss Chalet is 1700 square foot, beach front, 4 season home, on Allumette Island. The chalet is registered with Tourism Quebec. The chalet faces the north showcasing the mighty Ottawa River and in the background the foothills of the Gatineau/Laurentian Mountains. The chalet is decorated, clean and comfortable with big authentic beams throughout the cottage. On the main floor a glass-faced wood stove adds ambiance and warmth to the living room. The two large picture windows in the living room allows you view the beautiful view every day. The chalet's spacious living room has a sofa and loveseat and some lazy boy chairs with area carpets on the floor. There is a large screen HDTV and a DVD player and high-speed internet. The kitchen and dining area is large. The Kitchen is fully stocked with dishes pots and pans and several appliances. The well has spring water, however there is Culligan bottled water for cooking and drinking. The chalet has a washer, dryer in the hallway, a bedroom and a bathroom made with accessibility in mind. The Chalet has many windows and ceiling fans gently moving the fresh evergreen air and two portable air conditioners. It has electric heat, a little wood stove for chillier nights. Instructions can be given on working a wood stove.
The chalet has 4 bedrooms, and a large loft/bedroom and 2 full bathrooms. All the beds are dressed in new white linens, white comforters.
The Main floor bedroom is made with accessibility in mind. This bedroom has a double bed, Tv, dvd player.
The second floor has 3 bedrooms and a full bath with a bathtub.
The master bedroom has a king size bed, a queen size bed and a double bed. It also has access to a large balcony facing the beautiful Ottawa River.
The second bedroom has play pen and a queen size bed and a desk.
The third bedroom has one queen size and one twin size bed and has access to the ensuite bathroom with a tub/shower. In this room there is ship stairs leading up to the third floor.
On the third-floor loft/bedroom there sleeps 4 people it has one queen bed and 2 twins. This loft is a great room for the kids to play in on rainy days. It is decorated in the Pirates of the Caribbean with a few hula girl costumes. I encourage parents to bring your children favorite games just in case there is a rainy day.
Outside of the chalet, there are three large decks, two face the river. All decks have built-in bench style seating. Lawn chairs add to the seating with a propane barbeque for cooking. At night the trees are lit with colors giving light and life to the vast front yard and beach area. The lights are on a timer which goes on at dusk and off at 11ish pm. There are two large firepits have grills for cooking on the campfire. The chalet are equipped with cast iron pans and utensils for campfire cooking.
Parking is in the chalet's large driveway accommodating 3-4 cars. When parking stay on the property, do not block roadways. Access parking is directly near the back deck. There are a few options for loading and unloading of passengers. There is a 4 ft wide fixed wooden ramp and also a portable aluminum one if needed and just let us know if you need a hand.
Daily activities at the chalet are swimming, floating on floaties, boating, paddle boating, kayak, paddleboading, canoeing, tubing, fishing on shore or on the dock offshore. Many guests just like to relax on the shoreline or place their blankets or lawn chair on the grass and just sleep and the children like to play in the sand pile. I strongly encourage families to plan for beach time by bringing your sunscreen, blow-up water toys, swim shoes, flippers, canoes, kayaks and life jackets, there is a floatation raft, paddleboat paddleboard canoe and kayak as non-motorized toys to play with. Lifejackets are mandatory to use them. no exceptions. If you are bringing a larger boat and need to dock it, either town, Chapeau (4 miles west) or Waltham (2 miles east) are your choices. There is a gentle, gradual decline into the water from the shoreline. Bring some mosquito repellant and a warm jacket and old blanket that you can bring out to the campfire at night.
Activities in the Upper Ottawa Valley are: White water rafting, white water floating, river rafting Black River(free), ziplining at Chutes at Fort Coulonge there is also a real nice walking trails near the rapids edge. There is a charge to enter into some of these park sites. There are several golf courses around. Petawawa Army Camp, Stalactites and Stalagmites at the Bonnechere Caves in Eganville. Algonquin Park Camp Grounds and Baron Canyon which entrance is on the higher east side of the Park. In winter there is skating skiing, ice fishing, tobogganing and skidooing and much more...
There is plenty to do around in the surrounding cities.
Ottawa is the capital of Canada. Ottawa hosts many things to do with the parliament buildings and museums. If you look up the cities of Ottawa and Gatineau you will find countless things to do.
Ottawa has an airport however there is no railroads, public transit or buses to or from Pembroke to Ottawa.

Amazing Chalet, Location and Views - with Big Brother
The property is located on the majestic Ottawa River with amazing views and waterways. The chalet is a perfect location for hosting family and friends and is very well maintained. The swimming area is decent, would recommend water shoes due to some clams in the water. The fishing is amazing, you can literally throw a line out from shore and be catching fish. It is a perfect location. However, as a result of the owner remaining on-site in the adjacent 5th wheel trailer the availability of having the place to your family honestly did not happen. There was the feeling of "Big Brother" being there watching. The proximity of the trailer to the chalet is way to close. When you can overhear conversations taking place by the owner while inside the trailer negates the feeling of being their on your own. It makes you realize also that this can be applied both ways where your conversations can be clearly overheard also. Unfortunately this took away the feeling of a getaway with family.

Spacious Cottage
Great place! The owner is on the property with you and is very helpful and attentive. The water has a shallow entry, which is great for kids and dogs. The cottage was comfortable and well stocked. Pembroke is nearby and has everything you might need.
