I grew up in Winchester, and my wedding was set for the area. With friends and family coming from other states, the cabin was the perfect spot. I grew up passing by it all the time, but it is so much bigger on the inside! It was a maze of rooms, plenty of beds, and amazing memories to make. I was so in love with this place, and fully intend to make plans to come again.

PLENTY OF ROOM FOR ALL, QUITE CHARMING, LARGE TABLE TO FIT EVERYONE
We had 8 adults and 4 kids and everyone loved the lodge. So eclectic and fun. Wish we would have stayed longer. Looking forward to going back! Great place for a big group who likes a rustic experience.
We arrived and host greeted us and gave us the tour, everyone arrived and selected their beds/rooms! Other than a mouse and plugged toilet, we all enjoyed the weekend. The boats were a hit with the kids, as well as the property in general. Lots of room to spread out!
For the quantity of our gathering it was perfect, bathroom ratio to bedrooms was important for a female gathering. Large dining table allowed us to all sit together. For what little cooking we did we found what we needed. We loved using the serving dishes they had available to serve our meals. The dishes added a little elegance to our dining. Enjoyed the night time entertainment of mother natures animals at the feeders out the back windows. Location was convenient for shopping and dining in La Grange, TX. Had a Great time. La Grange is a very friendly and welcoming town.

The Perfect Zen Getaway
Get lost in the tall pine trees and gorgeous view of the water with the waterfall feature in the backyard! My fiance and I had our bridal party stay the weekend here and all day and night we enjoyed the outdoors at this beautiful lodge. We went on walks and took the boats out into the water catching a fish! The home was super cool and cozy with everyone enjoying a nice comfortable bed at night! Could not Thank Bob enough for the amazing vacation!
We went with a rather large group; this place was perfect and accommodating! The first time i stay somewhere that had more then enough towels, blankets, trash bags, all paper products and toilet paper! Besides food; we didn’t have to buy anything. I hate to rent a place for a long weekend and they supply you with only 2-3 toilet papers. Also, the location was amazing! Bill made sure we had a great experience and our time there was so enjoyable and memorable!!!! 10/10!
Our family celebrated Christmas at the Retreat on Lake Siesta. The place was absolutely PERFECT for the 11 of us. Each family had their own room(s) and there were plenty of restroom facilities.
Although the weather was predicted to be terrible, we lucked out and it was perfect and allowed for a 'Santa Visit' - which was SPECTACULAR! The lake provided fun and entertainment for all. We enjoyed every aspect of this property and had a wonderful time. The owner was extremely accommodating and even brought us a fire pit to roast marshmallows.

Characteristic Ranch House
It is really an old ranch house, sort of like an old hunting camp. Plenty of beds and bathrooms. The photos were glammed up, especially the "creek" photo. Its not an actual creek. Its what I would call a goldfish pond with a pump and a small water fall effect that is about 20ft long and 18 inches wide. The interior is a bit outdated with multiple wildlife mounts which are deteriorating and need to be restored. Spiderwebs all throughout the ceilings. The BBQ pit is charcoal, so bring some with you. The pond is cool and has a lot of small bass, all less than 10 inches.

Eric, the homeowners were surprised to read your review, as they are accustomed to providing 5-star experiences, and would like to clarify the following:- We designed the water feature as a landscaped pond with a small waterfall to create a peaceful setting near the screened-in porch. It's not intended to be a natural creek and isn’t described that way in the listing- We’ve had many compliments on the lodge’s classic, rustic style, including the wildlife mounts, but we understand it may not be to everyone’s taste- We’re sorry about the spiderwebs you noticed—this has been brought to the attention of our cleaning team to make sure it’s taken care of between each stay- The charcoal grill is available for guest use, and we recommend bringing charcoal and any other supplies you’d like to use during your tripThanks for taking the time to leave your review.
This is a most unique property and we loved it! It appears to be a renovated old hunting lodge. We were three families and it easily accommodated us. Robert was helpful and easy-going. The house itself is pretty big with a 2 acre lake in the back and feeding stations - we were treated to raccoons and deer at night. The furnishings were out of your great grandparents antique store and comfortable. The master bedroom is massive with a fireplace. The kitchen is more than adequate and the living area is massive with a long table and a TV viewing area - btw, everything worked well. The other bedrooms are all connected so you have to travel through one to get to the other. All-in-all, we'd stay here again. It was a real treat and I would recommend to anyone who craves visiting a venue that reminds them of their great grandparent's home.

Great space, but there are some quirks!
The house was nice and had just about everything we could have hoped for - enough trash bags, paper towels, plastic utensils and paper plates/bowls. Plenty of towels, soaps, etc. for the showers. Bob was accommodating and kind and let us check out a couple of hours late.
There are just a few things we wish we had known before: 1) All of the rooms are connected! Each bedroom leads to another bedroom and another and so on. Along with that, not all rooms are on central AC making it hard to provide adults privacy in their own bedrooms (you have to leave the door open to cool it from the other room). This was challenging for our group of mostly adult couples. 2) Some of the rooms are hot even with the AC on full blast, especially the rooms cooled through an open door from the other room. 3) The wifi was incredibly slow. We wanted to do a slideshow of our engagement photos for our family and couldn’t even open them up for viewing from our cloud drive.
Overall this place accommodated our group of 17 pretty well without needing the screened in porch. Just a few inconveniences that we had to deal with. Bob being an involved and generous host made a huge difference though!

Family Vacation success
Wonderful and beautiful place to stay at. Plenty of room for all 19 of us. The lake was awesome. My kids had so much fun trying to fish and my husband was able to catch several fish. Close by to local stores and other lakes nearby. Very peaceful and relaxing. Also perfect for all our dogs very pet friendly.
My husband and I hosted 3 children and their spouses along with 11 kiddos between 1 and 16. There was plenty of space but limited privacy.
Kids loved fishing, watching the wildlife and roaming the wooded area. We had a great time and would not hesitate to return.
My family really had a great time at this lodge! The master suite is very nice, private and comfortable. The rest of the sleeping areas were good for a large group of people, although it’s unique in that the rooms are all connected such that you have to pass through from one room to another or use one of the exterior doors (there’s no interior hallway). That’s just a little quirk, but workable. The kitchen is small but pretty well stocked. The great room had lots of sitting area and lots to do, with one long dining table and several smaller ones. The covered patio is great! And then you have a variety of charcoal and wood grills/smoker to work with for outdoor cooking. The private lake is really nice and peaceful. If a nice and peaceful getaway that can accommodate a good size group, this is a great spot!

Great long weekend
My family and I enjoyed a nice long weekend stay recently. We found the place to be very roomy, comfortable, with lots to do and just enjoy the peace of the property. We really enjoyed using the John boat and dock. We didn’t have much luck fishing, but we don’t really know what we’re doing there so that may have been the problem. Nice variety of wood and charcoal grills to choose from too.

Great Place!
What an exceptional property. The lodge is filled with an array of antiques and electric furnishings/decorations that are full of character. Bob is a fantastic host and very accommodating. The lodge is very well stocked with all of the necessities you need. With all of the rooms and restrooms, we never felt crowded. We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay and wished we could have stayed longer.
This property is eclectic and the owners have an interesting and unique touch that give the property a quaint and cozy feel. My absolute favorites were sitting around the fireplace with our group and sleeping in the big bed on the screened in porch. We look forward to returning!
We enjoyed our stay so much. The host Bob was such a joy to communicate with. Simple and easy no hassle. The house was top tier so many beds and spaces to hangout and relax. We enjoyed ourselves Canoeing playing board games getting wet. Late night chats. I definitely give this place all the stars possible!

Awesome Getaway
Bob was a gracious host and provided all of the provisions to make our stay comfortable, especially the wood for the fireplace. The lodge was well stocked and offered ample room for large parties or multiple families. The kids had a blast exploring the beautiful surrounding grounds, water feature, and canoeing in the pond. We would definitely stay at the Cabin on Lake Siesta again.
We celebrated my husband’s birthday over Thanksgiving week and this lodge exceeded our expectations! Bob greeted my family outside and provided a tour upon arrival. Very friendly! There was plenty of room for everyone and we never felt crowded (9 adults, 4 children). Love that each family had their own space/restroom. The lodge was very clean and organized so we felt comfortable. There were hand sanitizers in each room and placed on tables throughout which was really appreciated. The canoes and pond were the perfect addition to our stay. Everyone enjoyed some light fishing/canoeing and just relaxing outside. Highly recommended! Definitely planning another stay in the future!
