About this property

This place is a hidden gem. It has the feel of an isolated country house, with the convenience of being a 2-minute drive from the small town of Barbacoas and a 10-minute drive to the larger town of Puriscal. The house is situated on a beautiful 3 acre lot that offers great views of the stunning sunsets and the valley below. Our place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, artists and families (with kids). Come experience the Pura Vida lifestyle.

You will have access to the entire home during your stay. Though I live outside of the country, the property manager Alejandro lives nearby and can help with anything that is needed. Although he only speaks a little English, he is able to contact me 24/7. We work together to ensure that you have an enjoyable stay.

The views from this house are spectacular. Although there are several neighbours around, the house is far enough from the street to offer privacy and seclusion. The people in the small town of Barbacoas are absolutely lovely. Arturo, the owner of the small grocery store in town, is a friend and speaks a little bit of English and he goes out of his way to make you feel welcome!

I own a Costa Rica based travel agency and can help you rent a car to get to the property or help arrange tours or activities anywhere in Costa Rica. Although there is public transit that runs from the international airport up to Puriscal, the larger town (10-minute drive to the house). From there, you can take a taxi to the property.

Fantastic view s

Beautiful private property but difficult to find initially. A vehicle is required and the pool had no water but a great accommodation overall.

Beautiful

Had stayed 3 nights and was amazed at the scenic drive through the mountains to even get there. The house is beautiful, clean and spacious with a view that is mesmerizing. A two story house where you have everything you need. Keep n mind that it can be 1-1.5 hours away from San Jose/ Alajuela depending of traffic but it is well worth it. Highly recommended.

Lovely spacious place but left one day earlier due to noisy neighbor

We enjoyed our 5 days (out of 6) at the house. Our kids were so happy that we got such a nice place. It is big and clean, well-laid out with the bedrooms upstairs and ample room to relax downstairs during the day. The kitchen is spacious as well and everything you need for basic cooking is provided, although the pans/pots were scratched up badly. The area is very pretty but far away from most attractions. Great for relaxing! The first 2 days we didn't have water upstairs, but it was resolved by hard-working Alejandro and his friend by the evening of the 2nd night. (We got to meet his entire lovely family due to the water issue.) However, the bigger problem proved to be a neighbor who played his music before 6am, waking all of us up a couple of days--we didn't mind too much because by then it's bright out. But it was Friday night that changed everything. The music started again before 8pm and did not stop until 2:22am. I know because I was on my tablet, unable to sleep. I knew we would get sick if we spent another night like that so we left the next morning with a lot of regret. I'm told this was not a normal occurrence and honestly I couldn't tell where it was coming from. The acoustics of the area were excellent, unfortunately for us. The nearby town of Puriscal has several big grocery stores you can go to, and the farmer's market was quaint. The people at Soda Donde Ana were sweet and hospitable. One thing for sure, the stars are exceptionally bright in the middle of the night. The Big Dipper was the brightest I had ever seen in my life!

clean, well maintained, a real paradise.

A totally lovely place, the rolling mist, the birds singing, the two small brooks... dreamy. Silvia and Minor were very helpful, and their kids a total delight. The house is clean and well maintained, the kitchen got everything you may need, the windows are a dream to contemplate the mountains, and some birds came to eat bananas -toucans mainly. We had trouble with the downstairs toilet but Minor fixed the problem promptly. Our kids enjoyed the stay -despite the slow Internet and the pool being empty. I would recommend this place, although the roads are good I don't know during the rainy time. There is a most beautiful farm-restaurant with tilapias down by Ojo de Agua, ask the caretaker, it is worth a visit!
