The hosts are responsive and attentive as well as the property was set up in a very welcoming way. I would recommend this property to large groups. It has plenty of sitting areas and a gorgeous large dining table great for meals and game playing. There is also ample parking. We had 5 single adults and 1 couple staying and it was perfectly sized with enough sleeping privacy. FYI, there are 6 beds that are great accommodations for adults, there are 2 additional beds that are on the floor and more suited for children. The only reason it was not a 5 star overall is during the winter it can be a little challenging to discern the driveway when there is snow cover. The backroads can be very slippery as well. But the beautifully wooded area adds to the secluded charm of the property and should not deter you if you like rural locations.
My extended family was in town for a memorial service and we wanted a house close to Okemos and East Lansing. We loved this property. The open floor plan of the kitchen, dining room and great room was perfect for being together, yet being able to have small group conversations. The deck was beautiful as were the grounds. Really felt like we were away from it all. Yet only 20 minutes to MSU where we took in a hockey game on Saturday night. Annette was super responsive to my questions. The house instruction book was great. Everything was updated and very clean and bright. A 10 out of 10 in my book. My young nephew especially enjoyed - his "very own room" - a mattress in the alcove of his parents room.
My wife and I were hosting a bachelor/bachelorette party and using the home as a base camp for the wedding a couple days later and we were very pleased with our stay. The house was beautiful and the owners were very communicative. Any issues we ran into were handled quickly and completely. With a large group, I think this is a wonderful trip and would gladly do it again.
We had the pleasure of staying here with friends from California. The property is lovely and very roomy. The kitchen is amply supplied and was very easy to cook in. There is an air hockey table in the basement which was enjoyed by all. The beds were comfortable. The property is beautiful and we were able to see deer, wild turkeys and sand hill cranes wandering. The bonus for kids was the tire swing in the back of the property. Annette, the property manager, was always and easily available if we had questions. We would definitely stay here again if we come back to the area.
Everything was perfect and the customer service over the top!
Our highschool golf team and coaches stayed at University Manor and it was a wonderful experience. Everything was as pictured, very nice, clean, comfortable and welcoming.
The most notable: the team left at 6am one morning and did not have time to pack up food and coolers and the host Annette, packed up everything the delivered it to the golf course! So amazing. :)
We highly recommend University Manor!
Very, cozy, comfortable, intimate space, yet large enough for alone time.
The grounds were beautiful, rooms were comfortable, property manager and local contact were all on the spot and attentive to our every need,
Absolutely Beautiful property. The house is in great shape with updated kitchen and bathrooms. We had everything we needed and it is very well stocked with essentials like towels and kitchen equipment. One recommendation for the owner is to get a keurig. The coffee machine worked but it was a bit cumbersome to use and slow. Highly recommend and our group gives it 5 stars!
We needed a large house near campus to accommodate a group of friends and their families, and this worked out perfectly! We had plenty of space, the house was clean, comfortable and nicely decorated, just how it looked in the pictures. We will definitely book with them again!
We had a pleasant time at the property and really enjoyed the beautiful scenery and quiet area. There is plenty of space indoors and out for a large family or group of friends and plenty of sleeping options. The nephews enjoyed the air hockey table.
The kitchen looks recently remodeled but most other spaces are not. We had only minor inconveniences that we could easily work around but not a 5-star property as it is in need of some care and updating. Upon calling to check in we were notified the deck was going to be repaired soon and it definitely needs it. It seemed generally safe but my dad did notice some loose railing (likewise in one indoor staircase). There were only a handful of clothes hangars in the entire house and I would expect more in a "luxury" property. There were towels missing in some bathrooms so we had to hunt them down from other rooms. Also, many of the pots and pans could use a real scrub as the stainless steel is nearly black on some. The kitchen is well supplied with everything needed but we did have trouble with one stove burner not lighting. The entry way and deck could have used a good sweeping. The BBQ grill is charcoal so come prepared if you want to grill out and all the outdoor furniture you will need to move yourself from the garage to the deck. There was a large downstairs window which had obviously been broken and repaired yet the glass was still in a pile on the ground. Be prepared to schlep the large trash container to the road (and it's a long driveway).
Again, a nice stay and all things we were easily able to work around but I wouldn't consider it "luxury" aside from the generous size and nice grounds.
This a beautiful property and home in the woods. We rented this for our daughter's graduation from MSU for our extended families. We were 13 people in all. There was plenty of room for all of us and we could have had more. We had plenty of cookware and linens/pillows. There are some areas that make it easy for those who wanted more privacy or to just get away from everyone for a little while. There is also a large space on the main level for everyone to gather together. The large table even allowed us to all sit together! The house is as listed with no surprises. Annette and her property manager were both excellent at answering questions and were very prompt in their replies.
The home is absolutely gorgeous and great for a gathering! It is private and has great views and land, we enjoyed seeing all the animals around and how peaceful it was outside. We will definitely stay again and recommend to family & friends!
