The walk to Barton Springs has an option to go through the woods beside the Umlauf Sculpture Garden, down a rocky trail, which is literally a "woods path" directly into the spring-fed pools around which Native Americans settled for millennia--now the soul of Austin--to bathe in the healing, mineral-spring fed water bubbling up into an enormous pool and waterfall, the reason populations settled here and drew the first Austin settlement that became the heart of Texas--put a towel around your neck and walk down thru' the woods for the experience.

The Saxon Pub is our neighbor --a legendary music scene that still has our best players appearing on weeknights for a $5 entry, it's a 10 minute walk from our door-- and you pass the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema South on the way, where film directors and actors congregate when in town, serving awesome food and drinks during the movies on perfect screens in intimate stadium seating.
