Great location but not a fan of this house
We stayed at this property for the month of March. First , the good stuff-we picked this property for it's location. It is a five minute walk to fabulous Shoreline Park and beach access, ten minutes to down town Santa Barbara and five minutes from groceries, restaurants and amenities in the Mesa area. Access to 101 is only ten minutes away. The house has a hot tub which we used frequently. The house was immaculate when we arrived. The house has good privacy and there is a lovely garden with a water feature in the front of the house.
What we didn't like-this house has a strange lay out. There is a large kitchen that opens onto a small, dark and rather uncomfortable living area. There is a long narrow area with a huge dining table and a grand piano with glass doors that opens onto the back patio. This is the only main living space with natural light and, given it's layout, was not very usable. There was a small den that got good natural light -my husband used it for his study.
The master bedroom on the other hand was huge with two skylights. The skylights didn't have shades, so by 4 AM the room was bright and sleeping was difficult.
There is a large backyard patio with a barbeque and hot tub and small fire pit. . I think that in warmer weather this might make up for the small inside living area However, we were here in the winter and evenings are chilly.
We love the Paradise Retreats Company and will use them again. We just didn't find this house to be cozy for a winter stay.
