The 'host fees' were almost as much as the nightly room fee - effectively doubling the cost of a one night stay. Add that to a list of demands from the property about doing the dishes, checking in a 4:00 and then out by 10:00am? I also requested an early check in, which was accepted by email, but then I couldn't get into the room because the code wasn't set up. In all, it was disappointing and not worth the money spent.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're genuinely sorry to hear that your experience didn't meet your expectations.
We’d like to clarify that the “host fees” mentioned are actually set and collected by the booking platform, and unfortunately, we as hosts don’t have control over them. We always aim to be transparent about pricing in our listing to help guests make informed decisions.
Regarding the check-in and check-out times, these are standard across many short-term rentals to allow adequate time for cleaning and preparation between guests. That said, we do our best to accommodate early check-in requests when possible. We're sorry for the inconvenience you experienced with the door code — the Internet went down for several hours — something beyond anyone's control and that certainly wasn’t our intention. However, we gave you a call and were able to check you in before 4pm.
As for the checkout instructions, we try to keep them minimal and reasonable to help maintain the space for future guests, and we’re always open to feedback on how we can improve. We value your input and will take your comments into account as we continue working to improve the guest experience.
Our journey with the Courtyard Cabins began with a simple goal — to help the retired owners create a little extra income while preserving the charm and history of these special 1930s cabins. What started as a small project quickly turned into a true labor of love.
We carefully refreshed each cabin while keeping its original character, creating a cozy boutique lodge setting where guests can relax and feel at home. Today, we take pride in sharing this peaceful place with travelers looking for comfort, charm, and a genuine Grand Lake experience.
Hosting is more than just a business for us — it’s about creating a welcoming stay and helping keep a piece of local history alive. ✨
