Originally a humble, one-room old fisherman's shack, this home has been expanded with a new addition and updated in 2023. Perfect for nature lovers, this peaceful retreat offers access to Springer’s Point Nature Preserve via kayak, where you can explore untouched coastal beauty and abundant wildlife.

Wake up to the sounds of nature, sip coffee on the screened-in porch overlooking the marsh, and spend your days kayaking through winding creeks or relaxing in the quiet, secluded surroundings. Whether you're looking for a couple's getaway or a solo retreat, this hidden gem provides the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation.

Please note: The sleeping loft is accessible by very steep stairs, which is not suitable for young children, individuals with mobility limitations, or those uncomfortable with climbing. Guests should be physically able to navigate the stairs safely. If you have any concerns, feel free to reach out before booking!

Perfect little cottage for exploring the island! The home was situated fairly central and made walking very easy, if you’re not into that, then the golf cart rental place is at the end of the road! The home was just as described, cozy, convenient and well appointed!

Birdland is a perfect name for this house; we saw many bird species from the screened porch and the kitchen window. The porch was our favorite spot but the entire house was great with everything we needed. It is in a great location; close to all the village offers. We would love to come back!

Birdland was fantastic. Location was perfect with the creek behind the house. Place is la out very well and has everything needed for a great stay. Bring your kayak and put it at low tide for a beautiful paddle out the Springer’s Point!

Amazing stay!

Nice little cottage

This tiny little bird house was perfect for a quick somewhat last minute weekend trip to our happy place. Worked out great as it was between Memorial and Independence Days so nothing was too crowded and there was no wait at any of our favorite restaurants.

The house was charming and in a great location. Easy walk to restaurants and shops. The only downside was the low ceiling in the bedroom. My husband is 6’1 and it was a little challenging for him. Wonderful place to stay on Ocracoke!

Charming house

We really enjoyed our stay here. The house is located in a quiet but convenient area - lots of birds to watch from the darling screened porch. Our host was so helpful and always replied right away to any questions. It was a great place to come home to after a long day out in the heat and humidity!

cozy little spot to spend a few nights. The kitchen was well stocked, the bathroom was clean, and I loved the screened porch. I didn’t spend a ton of time there, but was able to see great egrets, blue herons, green herons, and turtles in the creek. Communication with Katie was very easy. I would definitely stay here again

5 Stars - Wonderful Stay!

My husband and I had an amazing time at Birdland! The home itself was well-maintained, clean, and a great size for just the two of us. The location was perfect - peaceful and tucked away just enough to feel like a retreat, yet still close to restaurants, shops, and the beach. Communication with the owner was excellent from start to finish with quick responses, helpful information, and a genuine sense of hospitality. We certainly will be looking to stay here again the next time we visit Ocracoke and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and well-managed place to stay!
