The house is newly and very tastefully renovated, spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is well-equipped. Other than salt and pepper there were no "consumables" that we could find (e.g. spices, plastic wrap). The neighborhood was pretty quiet and Willimantic (new to me) is very, very cool.

Thank you so much for the kind words! We are thrilled you enjoyed the space and got to experience Willimantic. It truly is a gem.
We really appreciate the honest feedback on the kitchen consumables. We do our best to keep essentials stocked including spray oils, and we take all guest feedback seriously. We have actually already ordered a spice rack for the home to make future stays even more comfortable. Items like plastic wrap and aluminum foil are things we leave to guests to bring based on their individual needs, but we will make sure that is clearly noted so there are no surprises.
We hope to welcome you back again soon!
Great house for family visit with our USCG cadet. The owners were very flexible and responsive to our needs. The property was clean and spacious we will use again!

Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re thrilled to hear you felt at home at our home. We take great pride in keeping the house beautifully updated, clean, and welcoming for every guest. Being readily available and providing a seamless experience is something we truly value. We’d love to host you again anytime you're visiting the area, safe travels until next time!
The home was a perfect retreat for a quiet night in while visiting our daughter at UConn. Despite being a pet-friendly property, you’d never know there was ever a pet in the house. Everything was exceptionally clean, orderly and comfortable. Would highly recommend
We very much enjoyed our stay at this property! It is newly renovated and beautifully furnished. Our young children loved finding all of the “silly” frogs featured throughout the home, and we loved the historic maps of the area. The owners really thought of everything when stocking the kitchen, and added touches throughout to make your stay more comfortable. The dimming lights, USB outlets, and built-in bathroom Bluetooth speaker were very nice extras. The kids loved the yard, eating outside on the deck, and the Roku TV. It was a homey and comfortable place to return to everyday. Karl was an incredibly responsive and welcoming host. A truly wonderful experience all around, and highly recommend!

I’ve stayed at a lot of VRBOs over the years, but this one in Willimantic is by far the best experience I’ve ever had. The house had absolutely everything we needed and more, they even had brand new deck furniture ready for us to enjoy. The bed was hands-down the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in at a VRBO or hotel, and the whole environment just felt welcoming and relaxing. At night, you could hear the frogs out in the woods, which gave such a unique and peaceful vibe, it really made the stay memorable. The owners clearly care about keeping the place in top shape and making sure guests feel at home. It was also the cleanest ever. I can honestly say this is the most amazing VRBO I’ve been to, and I would come back in a heartbeat.

About the host
Hosted by Karl Denton
As a full-time firefighter serving this community, hosting is a natural extension of what I enjoy most, helping people and taking pride in where I live and work. Willimantic is not just where I invest in real estate, it’s where I protect and serve the citizens every day.
I grew up in Connecticut and have always been hands-on, building, fixing, and creating spaces that feel like home. My real estate journey started right here because I believe in the small-town character of places like Willimantic — a city with a rich history, local pride, and a growing sense of revitalization.
When I’m not at the firehouse or managing properties, you’ll find me working on my next project, exploring outdoors, or spending time with friends and family. Hosting gives me the chance to welcome travelers into this community and give them a comfortable, clean, and reliable place to stay.
I take great pride in every property I offer and I’m always just a message away if there’s anything I can do to improve your stay.
Why they chose this property
We chose this location because it offers the perfect blend of small-town charm and convenience. Willimantic is known as Thread City, rich with mill history, local pride, and a growing food and brewery scene.
The home is just over the iconic Frog Bridge, making it easy to walk to Downtown Main Street where you’ll find local breweries, coffee shops, unique restaurants, and small businesses. The neighborhood is a mix of single-family homes with long-time residents and college students from ECSU nearby.
We love this area because it’s quiet at night but still central, you can be at UConn in under 15 minutes or exploring hiking trails within minutes from the house. It feels like a true New England town with everything you need close by, but without the crowds of a larger city.
Guests often tell us they love how easy it is to get around from here, whether it’s grabbing coffee downtown, hiking in Mansfield Hollow, or heading to Mohegan Sun for a night out.
What makes this property unique
Thread City Escape offers the best of both worlds, a fully updated home with modern amenities while still being walking distance to Willimantic’s historic Downtown and Main Street area. What sets this property apart is the attention to detail in creating a space that’s comfortable, functional, and ready for all types of guests — families, professionals, or college visitors.
The home blends modern touches like high-speed 1 Gig Fiber WiFi, a Roku TV, a fully stocked kitchen with a pot filler, and a heavy-duty commercial washer/dryer, things you don’t always find in short-term rentals.
We’ve set this home up to be flexible, whether you're here for work, visiting ECSU or UConn, or just exploring Eastern Connecticut, this space is designed for easy living.
The location is a huge draw — just over the famous Frog Bridge and within walking distance to breweries, restaurants, coffee shops, and local shops, yet tucked into a quieter residential area that feels like home.
As a full-time firefighter and local host, I care deeply about creating safe, well-maintained properties for guests to enjoy — and Thread City Escape is a reflection of that commitment.
