MESSAGE FROM FIRE DEPARTMENT: There is no day burning allowed within the Township from April 1-October 31st between the hours of 7:00am and 7:00pm. After this time, should you wish to burn, please ensure that the size of your burn pile is no larger than 2m x 2m x 2m.
OUTDOOR FIREPIT:
Please enjoy the fire pit responsibly. Never leave the fire unattended, and always fully extinguish it before leaving the area or going to bed. Keep a safe distance from the flames, and ensure children and pets are supervised at all times. Only burn clean, dry wood—no garbage or accelerants.
HOT TUB:
The hot tub has been serviced and ready for you to enjoy! It is a favourite feature for many of our guests and we want to make sure it's readily available for everyone to enjoy. We ask that you take a moment to review the instructions and respect the rules. MISUSE OR NEGLIGENCE RESULTING IN ADDITIONAL COSTS FOR MAINTENANCE, REPAIR, AND LOSS OF REVENUE WILL BE CHARGED TO THE GUEST. We hope you understand!
Additional chemicals and test strips are in the upper kitchen cabinet closest to the entrance door! Please use only if necessary. If chemicals/chlorine levels are too high they can be harmful. If you are unsure how to use these chemicals, feel free to reach out and we will guide you :)
HOT TUB RULES:
1. Always take a quick shower before entering the hot tub to remove any oils, lotions or dirt off your body.
2. Please make sure to put the hot tub cover back on and secure when not in use!
3. Absolutely DO NOT use any glass near the tub. We have plastic cups available for beverages while you’re outside.
4. Had a little too much fun in the hot tub? No worries, we just ask that you let us know if anything falls in the tub by accident . This includes liquids/ drinks/ etc so we can adjust the chemicals.
5. Please use the catcher in the cabinet underneath the kitchen sink to remove any debris, hair, hair ties, etc.
6. Sometimes we push the wrong buttons..... that are... on the hot tub control panel! No need to panic. To ensure that the correct setting is in place
-First , Press the TEMP button until the display starts flashing.
- Then, Use the LIGHT button to cycle through the modes: Eco, Standard, or Sleep. Repeat until you Get ST
Make sure the hot tub is set to Standard (ST NOT SL) mode. If it’s in Eco or Sleep, the water and will not circulate properly and it can get cloudy, or worse....
-Temperature should always be set at a minimum of 101 degrees
7. If you notice that the hot tub is cloudy or bubbly, please use the strips we provided in the welcome basket to test the water. We have provided you with some chlorine pucks if the levels are off as well. You can find the "foam away" in the top kitchen cabinet to the right side of the front door. Follow the instructions on the bottle.
8. Before Leaving:
- make sure all debris is removed from inside
-the Setting is set to STD and temperature at minimum 101 degrees
-the cover is on and secured
STRING LIGHTS BY THE HOT TUB:
Please unplug the string lights once you head back inside. The plug is on the right side of the hot tub. You should see an orange light that will help you locate the plug.
FIREPLACE:
1- We have provided some wood for you near the fireplace. Lay the wood like in a Jenga pattern. Depending on the size, lay the first layer of logs (as many as can fit), with space in between each log, on the fire rack, in the middle of the stove.
2- On the next layer, stack logs In the opposite direction
3-Light a starter inside your stack of wood, in order to feed the fire.
4- Do a check over to make sure your stove is set to allow the maximum amount of fresh air into the box. The single lever burn control that regulates the air should be in a vertical position, establishing a clean burn. (Located at the top)
You want oxygen because flames are attracted to it and will seek it out.
5- Pull the metal mesh closed. It is not hot to the touch. This will keep the fire contained and you can enjoy without worry.
CLEAN UP
6- Ashes need to be cleaned out of the stove before using the fireplace, every time.
7- Wait a full day before sweeping them up; ashes are hot and take a long time to cool off.
8- With extreme caution, place the ash in a metal bucket (located in the first bottom kitchen cabinet near the front door) and set on top of the tile surrounding the fireplace. KEEP AWAY from any hardwood flooring, carpet, walls, or flammable materials.
9- This is a safety precaution in case the bucket contains any still hot ashes. You also want to keep the bucket of ashes away from any pets or the kids to get into. Place the bucket on top of the grill inside the fireplace, with the metal mesh closed all the way around, before leaving for the cleaners to take care of.
*Never ever leave the wood stove unattended. This is a serious hazard.
SEPTIC SYSTEM:
Please note that we are on a septic system. Kindly, refrain from flushing anything other than toilet paper. No tampons. No hair. Not even flushable wipes.
When using the sink, please do not pour any oil, grease or chemicals in the drain.
OUTDOOR GARBAGE SHED:
The garbage bin is in the shed beside the hot tub. Please close the shed door tightly and latch it after each use—critters love an open invitation!
LAUNDRY:
Laundry is available upon request. If you’re using it, please keep the laundry room door shut and locked when not in use. Don’t forget to put the key back in the lockbox when you’re done to avoid any furry intruders!
DAMAGE & INCIDENTS:
If anything breaks, gets stained (like linens or towels), or looks off—just let us know as soon as you can. We’re not here to point fingers; we just want to keep things in great shape for everyone.
CONCLUSION
Lots of details, but we hope this helps make your stay as smooth as possible! We appreciate your cooperation to keep our special cottage a place we can share with others.
