About this property

Secluded Mountain Top House With Nature all Around

The Tree Farm House was built in 2010. It has a large master suite with a king sized bed and two guest bedrooms with queen sized beds. Designed by a Costa Rican architect, this house sits high atop a mountain ridge and is surround by the natural forest, teak plantation and rural area. The Guest House was designed for all rooms to enjoy the wonderful climate that Miramar Costa Rica has to offer. The kitchen, living room, master bedroom and guest bedrooms all walk-out to a magnificent covered back porch that can be used at all times of the day and night. One of the most fun features of the house is the outdoor shower in the master bathroom. The house sits on a 115-hectare tree plantation with 50 of the hectares are natural forest. Two scenic streams run through the property. Wildlife and bird watching opportunities are fantastic. Nature walks through the farm are plentiful and impressive. Many swimming holes are available in the streams on the property. Imagine having a wonderful nature reserve type of property all to yourself.

Things to note. The house is in a rural area and the road into the house is dirt. The dirt road is 12KM and it can be bumpy and has some steep sections so a 4X4 vehicle is necessary. It is a quiet place to disconnect. There is a Cota Rican family that cares for the house. They live in their own separate house 100M up the hill. They are happy to help with anything and would be happy to show yu around the property.

About the host

I grew up in Boulder, Colorado, USA, and now live just down the road in Denver. Growing up around Boulder I developed a great love and respect for nature. Throughout my childhood, my parents encouraged me to take advantage of the opportunities that mountain life provided. We were fortunate to spend our formative years outdoors, and these early experiences led us to truly appreciate nature. The feeling I get from being in a forest rich with lush undergrowth is indescribable, and it gives me a heightened awareness of the life that surrounds us and the connections between all living things.

Why they chose this property

Why Costa Rica? In 1999 I met his wife, Ericka, a native Costa Rican. From the first time I visited later that year I fell in the love with the country. The incredible lushness of the vegetation, the diverse and incredible wildlife, the great weather year round, and the beautiful mountains rainforest and beaches kept me coming back year after year.

What makes this property unique

Our guesthouse is perfectly secluded in a beautiful mountain setting. Close enough to the city that you can get the supplies you need, but far enough out that you can truly connect with nature. The beach and national parks are close enough to make an easy day trip to either. The vast property (115 hectares) gives the perfect setting to get out and discover all types of wildlife. From a vast array of birds to monkeys to beautiful butterflies to rarer sightings such as rain forest deer. You can truly experience this beautiful country that isn't possible in other settings.
