We had a great time staying at the Chanticlaire. It's very close to Deep Creek, Wisp and all of the local outdoor activities / restaurants / breweries. The two minor negatives were that the kitchen did not have any oil or seasonings for basic cooking, and the hot water ran out quickly when multiple showers were going. Otherwise - it was lovely!

An Unimaginable Experience!
Chanteclaire Farms is a place of warmth, serenity, and tranquility that truly pauses time and allows you to enjoy the beauty of nature that surrounds you. This 100 acres of corn filled lined rolling hills also is place that offers you childhood memories of swinging from the tree overlooking the lush, green hillside or rejuvenating and reconnecting with your inner self swinging from the back porch of the quaint cottage mesmerized by the ripples of the water from the nearby pond.
The owner Leigh is an invaluable asset and gem to Chanteclaire Farms by offering personable charm, creativity, and an accommodating and kindred spirit with undoubtedly exquisite taste! Also, Carla is a phenomenal addition to the farm and invaluable asset to the owner leaving no detail unturned.
Chanteclaire Farms is undoubtedly a place you must visit in order to say you have truly found a piece of Heaven!
Looking forward to my return :-)

An awesome escape!
Living near New York, solitude is hard to find. However ...
The 380 mile drive to Friendsville from home in Westchester might be intimidating for some, but it was very much worth the effort for all 5 of us (2 'peoples' and 3 dogs). A lovely, quiet, small town in Maryland. Scenic (and then some), with plenty to do within easy reach.
The house itself is rustic and oldly-worldy, but very, very well appointed and incredibly comfortable. Plenty of space and, important to us, it has a fenced in backyard to let the hounds roam, with little concern about escape attempts (to be clear, if you have a very small dog, it WILL be able to escape under the fence in some places) - just keep an eye on them, as we saw many deer around the property that can send the woofs into full-on hunting mode!
A very well equipped property on a farm known locally (and further afield) for fantastic weddings in the adjoining barn. Nothing we needed wasn't easily found! The staff on the farm were very friendly and helpful, and the owner (Leigh) will pop in to see how you're doing while you're at home here.
Stop thinking and just book a stay here. You won't be disappointed.
This house is perfect for our winter Wisp vacation. Our family and kids enjoyed ourselves and the short (10 min) drive to Wisp. We had dogs and they enjoyed the spacious backyard and plenty of space to roam. Kitchen was fully stacked and they provided linens, towels and toilet paper. Air conditioning system worked great, and the house was not cold or breezy. I would definitely recommend this house!
The farm house is beautiful! We loved our time here. 10 minute drive to Wisp for skiing and ample space and privacy at the house. Would absolutely come back.
Our group was very pleased with this property. It was bigger than expected and well appointed. While we were disappointed that the fireplace wasn't working, the house was warm and cozy. We would definitely stay here again for our next ski trip.
We enjoyed our stay at the farmhouse. It’s conveniently located a short drive from Deep Creek and the property itself is on a pretty lake and had all the amenities we needed.
My family and I (6 in total) with our 4 dogs had an amazing long weekend. Well appointed home on beautiful very well kept grounds. Located near Deep Creek Lake and 4 State parks--made for lots of great hiking / walking ... options--including on the property itself. Would go again in a heartbeat.
Leigh, Sue, and Jim are so helpful and the house and property are beautiful. We loved stargazing, walking, and riding bikes at/near the farm. Great hiking, mountain biking and bouldering nearby, plus water activities on DCL. Enjoyed a bonfire and s’mores. Perfect getaway for our family!
The house is more spacious and better decorated than I thought or as depicted in the pictures. Though upstairs bedrooms are small, they are comfortable and tastefully decorated. We especially love the huge bonfire. Jimmy was very helpful. He brought us a speaker and we sang and danced around the fire. Thanks to the seclusion of the property, we don't have to worry about disturbing the others. It is a magic night to relax after a day on the lake and the nearby state parks. FUN! Will recommend to friends!
We thoroughly enjoyed our 4th of July weekend at the Chanteclaire farm house. The house has everything you need for a long weekend respite. I loved waking up to the sounds of roosters crowing and birds chirping. Also, the decor of this place takes me back to pastoral France. Thanks, Sue and Leigh for being so accommodating and responsive!

Beautiful house and location
I could not recommend this place highly enough. We went there for a Christmas getaway from New York and it was perfect. The grounds are stunning (even in winter) with old barns, fields and woods and there is even a fenced in area for dogs if needed. The 100 acres is more than enough for anymore - by the end of the week, we had barely covered it walking. I was looking for privacy and fresh air and we definitely found it.
The house was beautifully modeled inside with rustic french charm and had everything (and more) we needed from games, to a beautiful dining table and plenty of free movie choices care of Amazon, Netflix etc. The kind size bed in the main suite is also one of the best beds I have ever slept on, and having stayed at hundreds of pretty nice hotels around the world I don't often say that.
The location is also ideal - it's a short drive to Deep Creek, antiques in Oakland and overall not too far away. We went horse riding in the snow, tasted local wines, bought far too many antiques and overall had a great stay. Annie's Diner is about a 10 minutes drive and does amazing food in the town of Accident.
The owner was very friendly and welcoming and had even decorated the house for Christmas for us. I would not hesitate to recommend this house and hope to return soon.
