Located in Keaau, this holiday home is by the sea. University Theater and Imiloa Astronomy Center are cultural highlights, and some of the area's attractions include Hobby Garden Hawaii and Hiʻiaka's Healing Hawaiian Herb Garden. Fuku-Bonsai Cultural Center and Hilo Coffee Mill are also worth visiting.
We stayed 4 nights at Tin Shack. Good location, rooms were spacious and comfortable with great pillows and linens. All bathroom necessities provided and AC worked well. Bonus was relaxing in a super clean hot tub and also the cute front porch patio with nature and wildlife to enjoy over coffee. We did experience some pesky sugar ants in the kitchen (yes, it is a tropical island) so didn't do much cooking.
My friends and I had a wonderful experience staying here. Everything was perfect, comfortable, and completely clean. I would definitely stay here again with friends or family.
Spacious, Peaceful, and Ideal for Families - with Aloha!
We absolutely loved our stay at this VRBO and would return in a heartbeat! Despite the previous guests leaving a mess and causing a few minor issues, the owner went above and beyond to have everything ready and comfortable for us right away. Their responsiveness and care made all the difference. The home itself was one of the most peaceful places we stayed during our time in Hawaii. The upstairs had a spacious master suite and a perfect kids' room - complete with toys, books, kid-sized chairs, cozy bunk beds, and even a queen bed. The downstairs bedroom was equally great, with convenient access to the hot tub.Families with little ones will appreciate all the baby gear provided (high chair, baby bath, pack & play, activity seat, and more). The kitchen was well-equipped, and there was ample seating with a dining table and bar area. We spent hours relaxing on the upper balcony and lower deck, both offering beautiful breezes and natural light through screened sliding doors. Morning walks to the ocean with coffee in hand were a perfect start to each day.The decor was fresh and tasteful - not outdated like many other listings we considered. Honestly, we’re tempted to keep this gem a secret so it’s available when we return!
