We really loved Ivan and Ceres' loft, the location was nice: quiet, in a lovely village, close to Tomar to eat and do groceries. Ceres showed us there beautiful garden, my son particularly liked their sweet dog Sasha.

    About the host

    Your host

    Host profile image
We are Ceres and Ivan, your hosts and the guardians of Horto do Amor. Our lives are centered around the intersection of nature, community, and hospitality. We are deeply committed to regenerative living and syntropic agriculture—the art of farming in harmony with the forest to restore the earth.
Most days, you’ll find us tending to our "edible forest" or collaborating with our local community through the Terra Agora Foundation. We believe a home is more than just a place to sleep; it’s a space for connection. We love sharing our "garden of love" with travelers who appreciate a slower, more intentional pace of life.
As your hosts, we are attentive yet respectful of your privacy. We take great joy in sharing the fruits of our labor, whether it’s a recommendation for a hidden river beach or simply ensuring you have a peaceful stay. We want our guests to feel like they are staying with friends who truly care about their well-being and the environment.

    Why they chose this property

We chose the Tomar region because it offers a rare, perfect balance between deep history and raw natural beauty. Known as the Templar City, Tomar is home to the stunning Convent of Christ, but beyond the monuments, there is a grounding, spiritual energy to this land that we found nowhere else.
The Nabão Valley provides a lush, fertile landscape that was ideal for our vision of building a regenerative farm. We were drawn to the sense of community here—there is a vibrant movement of people returning to the land and practicing sustainable traditions, which makes it an inspiring place to live.
Being in central Portugal, we enjoy the best of both worlds: we are close enough to the amenities and culture of a historic city, yet far enough away to enjoy the absolute tranquility of the countryside. Here, the air is clean, the stars are bright, and the pace of life follows the rhythm of the seasons. It is a place that invites you to breathe deeply and reconnect.

    What makes this property unique

What makes Horto do Amor truly unique is that you aren't just staying in a house; you are staying inside a living, breathing ecosystem. Our property is a functioning syntropic farm—an "edible forest" where we grow food in a way that heals the soil and promotes biodiversity.
Guests have the rare opportunity to see regenerative agriculture in action, surrounded by a lush variety of plants and trees that create a cool, fragrant microclimate. While we offer the peace and seclusion of a rural sanctuary, we are only minutes away from the historic center of Tomar.
This blend of ecological immersion and cultural convenience is rare. The property is designed to be a true "Garden of Love," prioritizing sensory experiences: the sound of the wind through the trees, the taste of seasonal fruits picked straight from the branch, and the stillness of the Portuguese hills. It is a space designed for those who want their travel to be a restorative experience for themselves and a positive footprint on the planet.
