HEATING: There is central heating throughout the home, additionally there are also space heaters in each bedroom. The thermostat is set to 72 degrees during the winter months. Please contact owner if you feel it is too warm or too cold and we will happily adjust the temperature as needed.
-COOLING: Please note, there is NO air conditioner in the cabin (most homes in Big Bear do not have air conditioning). There are ceiling fans in many of the rooms and portable fans provided in every room. Mountain weather is generally 20-30 degrees cooler than other communities. It generally cools off to the the 50s at night in the summer months. In the late afternoon We encourage you to open all windows and turn on the fans to circulate the air.
-POWER OUTAGES-
Big Bear is a remote, mountain location. From time to time there are power outages. This doesn’t happen often but it does happen. Typically power is restored within an hour or two. For your convenience, the cabin is equipped with 4 battery operated lanterns and 3 flash lights. These are located in the cabinet next to the front door. We do our best to ensure guests are prepared during these unforeseen circumstances, however we do not refund or provide credit should a power outage occur.
-MOUNTAIN INSECTS AND ANIMALS– Big Bear is a mountain community located in a forest. Animals you may encounter are mice, woodpeckers, raccoons, squirrels, gophers, bears and bats, among others. From time to time guests will come across one of these animals either alive or dead, inside the home or outside the home. Common insects include ants, spiders, moths and flies. Insects can move very quickly when a home is left empty, even overnight and spider webs, dead insects or live ants are possible. We inspect every home prior to your arrival but cannot guarantee the home will be free of pests. Credits will not be given to any tenant if an animal is found on the premises or near the premises alive or dead or if there are some insect issues. Please contact us immediately if you encounter an issue and we will do our best to resolve it.
