Not fancy or pretentious, this 3-bedroom, 2-bath evolved, rustic, country home began its life as a manufactured dwelling but has been thoughtfully expanded over the years, and offers all the necessities for comfortable living with character. YOUR SANCTUARY AWAITS
Nestled on Wadmalaw Island, this spacious property offers the perfect balance of seclusion and accessibility. Enjoy morning coffee while watching the sun rise over the ancient oaks, then spend your day exploring nearby Charleston (just 30 minutes away) or discovering the natural beauty of the Sea Islands.

THE SPACE:
• 3 BR, 2 BTH, sun room, living/dining/kitchen, utility/laundry, add’l walk-in closet (~1250 sq. ft.)
• Partially furnished (beds, dressers, living room TV/sofa, dishes)—bring your personal touches
• Ready-to-use chicken coop (perfect for fresh eggs during your stay)
• Abundant outdoor space for gardening, games, stargazing, and gatherings
• Nearly 3 acres to explore, enjoy, and put to good use

IDEAL FOR:
• Remote workers seeking a peaceful home office with nature views
• Families wanting children to experience a taste of country living (games, books, and a small air hockey table are in the sun room)
• Writers, artists, or anyone needing creative space and inspiration
• Animal-lovers wanting to bring their pets. Pets are welcome!
• Nature enthusiasts (excellent birding, fishing, and kayaking nearby)
• Those exploring a potential move to the Charleston area
• Anyone seeking to temporarily trade city life for country tranquility
• Couples looking to throw the best-ever wedding (live on-site, while handling all the prep-work and creating your dream wedding to happen during your stay) -- My husband and I married on the property and had a gorgeous wedding with 100 guests, a tent with dining and a dance floor, a candy bar, an oyster table, and catered BBQ. We ordered and arranged our own flowers and did little other decorating, thanks to the gorgeous natural scenery. The home allows a great location for getting ready, and the open acreage is perfect for renting tents, tables, chairs, hiring entertainment or catering, etc. If you are securing the property for a wedding, I'm more than willing to help with contact information, set-up, or other requests within my control.

THE DETAILS:
• Minimum 30-day stay required because of local rental laws.
• Incredible value–HUGE savings compared to Charleston weekly rentals! Also, no traffic on the island so a terrific escape at the end of a busy day of adventuring, shopping, working, or just being out adulting.
• All utilities included.

NEARBY TREASURES:

• Charleston Tea Garden
• Deep Water Vineyard
• Bohicket Marina

This was our family home, where we also got married on the property (gorgeous wedding with 100+ guests), and started raising our two babies. We still love the property so much, and plan to keep it and build on it in the future. However, we have had to move closer to schools for now, and we want to let others get the taste of the beautiful, peaceful rural life of Wadmalaw Island.

We plan to continually improve upon this property, and hope we are forthright enough in stating that the home is a clean and restorative retreat, surrounded by nearly 3 acres of gorgeous open land and bordering trees and forests, and not a glamorous mansion with bells and whistles. There is a chicken coop on the property, ready for chickens during your stay, where you can collect fresh eggs and pretend this is your normal country life, or at least make it a true part of you and your story of month-long stays at The Jolly Ranch on Wadmalaw Island.

Why they chose this property

The people and environment are quiet, peaceful, and respectful. We are protective of the land and the surrounding beauty of all its nature and wildlife. You rarely, if ever, see the neighbors, but they are definitely there and friendly if you need them. We all know one another and most have lived in or had these properties in their families for generations.

What makes this property unique

Our property is a simple, wide-open corner piece of property on the fabulous farm-laden island of Wadmalaw. There is a large wooden playset, built for my own children by my husband and my father, as well as a climbing structure. There is a fire pit area, for outdoor gatherings, and a small fenced area at the back of the house to keep animals separate from the much larger yard space during events or gatherings. The entire yard is also almost 100% enclosed by a fence, with plenty of space for families, friends, and pets to run. What is special about our property is that we welcome your pets and children, where many other properties frown upon both. We also include games, toys, and books for all ages, making the country life bearable, even for those city folks you might be dragging out there for an experience!
