About this property
A Serene Garden Suite in Historic Tingley House, near UNM, hospitals
WELCOME TO THE HISTORIC TINGLEY HOUSE SUITE
Enjoy a private two-room suite inside the 1929 Tingley House, a beautifully restored Albuquerque landmark tucked away in the leafy, bike-friendly Silver Hill neighborhood. This gated estate offers gardens, shaded seating, and quiet comfort — all just minutes from downtown, UNM, and the airport.
YOUR PRIVATE SUITE INCLUDES
• Private entrance (7 steps up)
• Bedroom with queen bed, antique furniture, Fire TV, and garden views
• Sitting room with recliners, mini fridge, microwave, coffee and tea station, antique Larkin desk, cedar closet, and a second Fire TV
• Quirky historic bathroom layout: the bedroom closet now holds a sink/vanity, while one of the sitting room closets was later converted to contain the shower and toilet. The shower/toilet space is compact but fully functional — ideal for guests who don’t mind a cozy bathroom in exchange for the charm of staying in a 1929 landmark.
• High-speed WiFi and laundry access (shared)
• Off-street parking for one vehicle
• Refrigerated air conditioning
Step outside to sip your morning coffee at a shaded garden table or browse your in-room library of local history and hiking guides.
CENTRAL AND CONVENIENT LOCATION
• 2 blocks from Presbyterian Hospital and downtown
• Walking distance to UNM, CNM, Isotopes Park, and New Mexico United games
• 8 minutes to the airport
• 8 miles to Balloon Fiesta Park
A HOUSE WITH HISTORY
Built in 1929 by Clyde and Carrie Tingley, the estate was the first home in Silver Hill and hosted many notable visitors, including President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Clyde, then Albuquerque’s mayor and later New Mexico’s governor, worked closely with FDR to bring the New Deal to the state.
• FDR is said to have spent evenings here, smoking cigars with Clyde in the basement lounge
• Carrie, a champion for children’s health, founded the Carrie Tingley Hospital; her roses still bloom on the grounds
• Original fixtures, windows, and doors remain in your suite
• Even Clyde’s bulldog enjoyed a miniature house in the garden, built in the same style as the estate
• Roosevelt Park, created by Clyde to honor FDR, is just a short walk away
