About this property

Cool North Georgia mountain has every thing you would love

Wake up to the cool, crisp morning with a cup of coffee on the porch! We offer you two porches, a screened front porch where deer are often spotted, or the back porch with views and sounds of the backyard waterfall. After a fun-filled day of adventures, finish the day in the same spot enjoying a glass of wine or sweet tea. You may never want to leave the porch, but be sure to check out all things exploring the North Georgia mountains, or fun shopping and eating in downtown Blue Ridge.

Each season offers different experiences for you to enjoy. Spring is great for trout fishing and seeing the beauty of wildflowers emerge. Summer offers warmer water for tubing, rafting and boating., and hiking and biking. Autumn brings the brilliant colors of fall and time to enjoy the holidays with family and friends. Winter is quiet and relaxing, with occasional snow.

Whether you're planning a private mountain getaway or just getting away, our cozy cabin is located in the heart of the Aska Adventure Area, a nature lover's paradise. With the Toccoa River and Lake Blue Ridge at your fingertips, the opportunities for fishing, kayaking, and boating are endless. After enjoying a day of hiking at the nearby trails, come home to enjoy the serenity of the porches, the hot tub, or sit around the campfire. True mountain living at its best!

This is our private cabin in the wonderful 40,000 acre forest with a 60 foot man-made water falls which can be seen from the kitchen table or the back porch. The hot tub is located on the back porch and feels great to relax in after a busy day. There is also a table and chairs on the screened front porch, with everything necessary to relax and enjoy, Including a nice wicker swing, comfortable chairs, and a hammock. As you can see, I believe in comfort. The open concept living/dining/and kitchen is equipped with ease and comfort in mind. There is even a massage chair to help you unwind. The primary, first floor bedroom has a king size bed, comfy chair, and window seat. The bathroom has the largest jacuzzi tub I have ever seen, with a shower over the center of the tub, (which was my creation). In the loft there are two queen size beds and a full -size bed, with a half bath. All bedrooms have a charging station for your devices, and an additional one in the main living area.

Since this is my private cabin, I dare say it is the best equipped cabin in the North Georgia Mountains at least every thing I can possibility want for my pleasure, and I hope your will agree.

We suggest downloading the "Visit Blue Ridge GA!" app from the app store which has a complete list of Events, Things to Do, Shop, Eat and even a trip planner along with other information.

*Please note there is a one-room guest cabin in on the property which may or may not be rented during your stay, and you can have it also for a small charge.

We were disappointed with our stay at this cabin. Upon arrival, the exterior appeared neglected, with overgrown grass and weeds. Inside, the cabin was cold (around 60F) despite the thermostat being set to 74. The heating system didn’t seem to function properly — no warm air came out and the fan didn’t run. We contacted the owner via the guest book number and the Vrbo app. While we were told the issue would be looked into, it wasn’t resolved that evening. We ended up purchasing a space heater to stay warm. The wood-burning stove helped temporarily but didn’t maintain warmth overnight. The bathroom had several issues: no shower curtain, no water from the shower head, and rusty-looking water from the tub jets. It was also very cold. When we reported these concerns, the response we received was not helpful.Due to the lack of heat and inability to shower, we informed the owner we would pay for the first night but needed to leave early. He said he would request a refund through Vrbo. We relocated to another cabin. After our trip, we received a partial refund for taxes and fees, but not for the unused nights. We also noticed minor housekeeping issues, such as used dental picks near the couch and a towel with hair on it. Overall, the experience did not meet our expectations.

The cabin was exactly as Charlie described.

The cabin was a great, quick getaway. It’s a very peaceful location, and his waterfall gives added serenity. We didn’t really do much in the surrounding area - we were just looking for some relaxing time, and we definitely found it.

Loved our stay

We had a little trouble with the GPS finding the cabin but a phone call to the property owner got us right on track. He was very helpful and gave us good directions. The cabin was just the right size for our family and we loved the location. We got to meet the owner and he is super nice and gave us a few tips on places to access the river. We hope to stay again.

Weekend getaway

The property was good and owner was great. I just think there should some updates to the outside of cabin and the shower needs a different way to get in and out and a different shower head.

Blue Ridge Getaway with a HUGE hot tub AND jacuzzi!

Charlie made our first VRBO experience easy! His instructions were clear and easy to understand. The decor made this cabin very cozy and home. The sectional couch was roomy and comfy. The loft area was really nice to look out into the living space. The hot tub was large that can fit 6 people. For us 3, it was perfect. We loved swinging in the enclosed porch & in the personal swing with foot rest. This place allowed us to relax completely. Just a tip about the jacuzzi- this thing is huge and amazing - you will need to fill up the jacuzzi using the hot water 5 times at 15 minute increments to have a hot jacuzzi experience. Definitely worth the wait for the water heater to reheat (which was 15 minutes). The firepit was big and the chairs made it look inviting. It was raining the whole time, but I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way because swinging on the porch swing while listening to rain was so relaxing. We will definitely be coming back here. One last thing, Charlie would message us immediately when we had a question or two and was very helpful. 10 out of 10!

Wonderful Stay over Thanksgiving

Hot tub was very clean and worked great. Cabin was very homey and comfortable. Hosts were quick to respond although we didn’t need anything major. They even prepped a fire for lighting in the cast iron stove/fireplace.

Absolutely Wonderful! I take a week each year to recharge my batteries. The last few years I went home early. Not this year I stayed the whole time!!! Beautiful view, the mist welcoming cabin ever!!! Felt at home and at relaxed the minute I walked in the door. I had a question and sent the owners a text they got back with me in less than ten minutes.i usually go to Isla Mujeres every spring but I will be back here instead!!!

Disappointing

My family and I stayed here over Labor Day weekend. We got in late on Friday, and come Saturday we started to notice a lot. There were cobwebs and the outdoor cushions looked like they needed replaced. I can get past all that, as it’s a cabin in the woods, but what I can’t get past is the hot tub leaking (half full when we got there and owner knew it had a leak), the owner had the hot water turned off on the breaker box (had to call to find this out), and we found 2 dead mice along with a chewed up toilet paper roll that indicates there may be active alive mice (and I have an infant who crawls!). When I brought this up on a phone call with VRBO and the owner, the owner had said “at least they aren’t alive mice” and in regard to me mentioning hot tub leaking and that it was un-useable for a full day due to us filling it up and waiting on it to heat up he said “well, it won’t ruin your life”. Who says that?? I was nice about it and just was bringing up the issues and there’s no need to be smart alec about it. Charlie at least refunded us for the last night since we decided not to stay there, but some sort of refund for Friday/Saturday due to the circumstances above would have been good customer service.

Perfect getaway in the woods

We absolutely LOVED our stay! There were so many little extra touches that made the getaway wonderful. The couch was wonderfully deep and cushy to snuggle and watch movies. The wood burning stove further added to the coziness. I loved sitting both inside and outside watching the birds on the feeder. The hottub was glorious to sit back and relax. We loved the open concept of the main area and the well-equipped kitchen. Some notes for whomever this applies to: There is not a master bath. It is shared with everyone on the main floor. There is a small cabin/tiny home that shares the driveway and the back yard space. When in the hot tub, with the cover off, the place where the cover hangs provides plenty of privacy between the back porch and their space. We LOVED this cabin and plan to come back soon!

Do not recommend

The hot water heater is not large enough to fill the garden tub. The hot tub will not be hot enough until your second night and smells like old laundry because it does not have a chlorine filter, the bottom is covered in a slippery layer of algae, and the water is green. You will be charged an extra cleaning fee if the cleaners have to sweep the floors after you leave. The owner of the cabin will be in a small cabin on property to observe and ensure you’re not alone on your secluded cabin vacation. There is a racist wall hanging in the kitchen and a creepy trail cam photo hanging in the bedroom.

Disappointed

The cabin was easy to locate & decorated with care. There were no views other than the woods. Kids were mostly looking forward to sitting in a hot tub & the view. I was told the previous guest had a late checkout, there won’t be enough time for the cleaners to finish before 5pm. I accepted & he said he would call once the cabin is ready. We eventually got board of walking around town & headed to the cabin to sit until it was ready. Nobody was there so I called to ask if was ready, he said it was. Upon our arrival it was 78 degrees inside. I reached out to the owner he tried to get the AC working. He told me he didn’t know what it could be because his daughter just stayed there the night before and it worked fine for her. By the time he called a tech it was 86 dgs. The tech found that the new thermostat was never hooked up properly. Once we got past that dilemma we checked the hot tub temp it was 60 dgs. The owner sent a video so I could adjust settings. It didn’t warm up until late morning next day. When I pulled the downstairs bed covers back I found two head & body marks on the pillows and sheets. I couldn’t believe it! I smelled the indented area of the pillow to confirm and sure enough it smelled like dirty greasy head. I checked the beds upstairs were clean so I shared one with my kids the whole stay. Once the hot tub warmed up my daughter said it looked dirty and sure enough it was very dirty. I am disappointed that our stay was not what we expected or paid for.

Overcharged

There was a cleaning fee already paid with the total rental - besides a few dishes in the sink and some food left in the fridge you wouldn’t even know someone had been there. I travel a lot and have always left food in the fridge in case the next guest or cleaners wanted it. We were charged for a glass bakeware because there were pieces in the oven apparently - but we never used any bakeware. The hot tub was dirty so I didn’t even get in it when my other guest got in - and we were charged for an already dirty hot tub. The first night my boyfriend and I got locked into the master bathroom because the door latched and would not unlatch. It took us over an hour to get it unlocked! There’s not enough hot water to fill the amazing bathtub that is pictured so don’t get your hopes up! I have never in all my travels left a bad review but was shocked that we were charged an additional cleaning fee for very minimum cleaning! No where in the instructions /guidelines was this laid out before our stay. Nice isolated place to stay but def watch out for unnecessary charges.

About the host

Hosted by Charlie Roberts

Host profile image
I am a retired real-estate broker, commercial pilot and farmer, my wife is a retired school teacher. We both enjoy the cabin and all of the amenities. We have 9 children who we are very proud of. I came down from Kentucky many years ago and my wife from Ohio. We met 12 years ago and married, and we couldn't be happier. We spend a lot of time when we can at the cabin, and love every minute that we are there. I enjoy lying in that special hammock my daughter brought me when she visited Columbia, and watch the deer feed in my front yard at the cabin.

Why they chose this property

We had no intention of renting the cabin when we bought it and my lovely wife is a big fan of Chip and Joanna, on the Fixer Up Show, enough that we just payed him $1350 for two nights in the carriage house in Texas. You can probably guess how she furnished our cabin. Pottery Barn here she came, sofa, 4 drawer chest , etc.
we rented it to some friend and he said you should rent this out when you, are not using it, and that the rest of the story.

What makes this property unique

We just took one look at the area and the beautiful forest surrounding the cabin and said lets buy it. God really blessed us for here are the things that I wanted in the forest:
1. River is across the street, and and excellent rafting, floating, and fishing, especially Trout. 8 minutes.
2. Hiking, bicycling, with many trails close by, and the beginning of the Appalachian trail, just 10 minutes
3. Longest swinging bridge this side of the Mississippi River, 10 minutes.
4. The Indians called this area the land of the waterfalls, because there are so many. A 60 ft, I made, behind the big cabin, and many more in the area, a big one just 10 minutes.
5. Merciers Orchard, many people come up here just to visit the orchard. 15 minutes
6. Blue Ridge Mountain scenic rail way, in Blue Ridge. 12 minutes
7. White water Rafting, where the Olympics were held, class 4 and 5. 45 minutes
8. Great shopping and fine resturants as well as winery and breweries in Blue Ridge.
12 minutes
9. Gold mining a nice set up for the public, 4 minutes. One of our tenants last year stayed a week and picked up severial pieces of gold out of the river, and one nugget worth $600. Of course he came back and show us, and I am sorry i didn't make a picture.
10. most of my guest like to build a camp fire and I have a perfect place at the back door
and free wood to burn, (check that out at other cabins).
11. Swan Drive -in movie theater 13 minutes.
12. Lake Blue Ridge , good bass fishing, and boating rentals, cool mountain water. 12 minutes.
13. I have a hot tub, located on the back porch. This is my favorite, especially if you have your significant other with you.
14. Maybe the best of all is just lying in the hammock and watch the clouds go by and get that R/R you need so bad. I can list that many more but I am tired of writing.
