Charming 1-bedroom gallery bungalow on 9 acres in Spicewood, new central air/ht.
Nestled on 9 acres of beautiful Texas Hill Country just outside of Austin, and thoughtfully curated by artists Alan and Barbara Serota, this elegant gallery/bungalow-retreat offers an opportunity for renewal and contemplation away from the busyness of this world. Filled with original art by longtime artist Barbara and Alan Serota, the bungalow is surrounded by amazing views, wildlife, and natural splendor. Featuring 14-foot-tall wooden ceilings with over 600 square feet of living space as well as an outdoor covered porch, this one-story bungalow also has separate living, dining, and sleeping areas with a king-size bed. AMENITIES: Kitchenette has a full-size refrigerator, microwave, a large sink, coffee maker, blender, hot water kettle and toaster. Dishes, silverware and utensils are all provided and a one-burner stove top is available if you need it, but there is no oven ... no additional appliances, please. MEDITATE in NATURE: Walking trails lead to a remote section of canyon just off the Pedernales River, while the upper loop-trail offers a contemplative early-morning walk of over a half-mile with benches along the way. Full- moon nights are spectacular and stars abound on a clear evening. When we are blessed with a wet spring the rain yields lush bluebonnets, coreopsis, and countless wildflowers and blooming native plants such as Texas buckeye, agarita, redbud, yaupon, and cactus. HOSTS AND ACTIVITIES: As working artists for over 40 years Barbara and Alan Serota also offer you an option to take a 2 hour private painting class in their studio, or a personalized yoga and mindfulness class, all consciously designed to fit your needs and abilities for an additional fee. You will also find many of their original paintings for sale gracing the walls of the bungalow. Since we live in the adobe house on the property near the bungalow and are not absentee owners, we are happy to meet any needs you may have during your stay. The bungalow is the only rental on the property. ENTERTAINMENT: If adventure is on your mind we are surrounded within ten miles by three wineries, one distillery, three county parks on Lake Travis, Krause Springs, Five Souls Winery with Pickleball courts, Poodies Roadhouse and great bicycle rides off the beaten path and at surrounding parks. We welcome you and hope you will sink into our surroundings and find peace and renewal on this magical land. NATURE VIEWING: Our wildlife and topography are diverse ... deer, foxes, coyotes, porcupines, eagles, owls and countless songbirds all share this land with us, along with the occasional snake and scorpion. So, be alert during your stay. Sturdy hiking shoes and long pants are recommended for the hiking trails ... some parts of the trail can be challenging as they are steep and rocky so move with a sense of awareness. (best not to look at your phone while walking). ADDITIONAL RULES: We are a non-smoking accommodation with no pets, no motorcycles, semi's or RVs, no children or persons under 30 years of age, and we have a 2-guest maximum. For your security and ours, registered guests only are allowed on the property. No guns or fireworks, boat trailers or R.V.s motorcycles or semis are allowed on the property. MORE THINGS TO DO: A few more of the attractions nearby include Cypress Valley Event Center, Barton Creek Lakeside, Pace Bend Park, Spicewood Vineyards, Stonehouse Vineyards, Muleshoe Bend Park and bicycle trails, Spicewood Farmers Market, Opie's Barbeque and of course Krause Springs. We are also less than an hour from Hamilton Pool Preserve, and 1 1/2 hours to Enchanted Rock. The famous corridor of over 30 world-class vineyards between Johnson City and Fredericksburg is less than an hour from our home. Fine dining at the Hill Country Galleria's many restaurants is about 25 minutes away and there are many local and colorful restaurant/bars, often with live music, just around the corner. Oh, and if you always wanted to play Willie Nelson's golf course at Briarcliff, you are welcome to borrow my full set of graphite clubs. PERKS: .....Covered parking adjacent to bungalow, New Mitsubishi mini split a.c./heat pump. We look forward to your stay! (3 weeks maximum)

Wonderful hosts who invited us to stay and enjoy being in nature and surrounded by carefully orchestrated and curated bungalow. We spent our one year anniversary exploring the property and parks nearby. We left so much lighter, and taken with both the area and the supportive kind people. Absolutely stunning, we would love to come back.
Our stay at the bungalow was truly exceptional, and we give it five stars across the board. The place was spotless, the check-in process seamless, and the hosts were wonderful, always ready to help and going above and beyond. The bungalow was very comfortable, and the AC worked perfectly throughout. We loved sipping wine and having snacks on the porch, taking in the balcony views, and watching wildlife like birds, deer, and rabbits go by. The location is nearby a shopping complex and cool spots like Krause Springs, Muleshoe Bend, Spicewood Vineyard and 5 Soul Winery. Even though it's near all those places, being in the bungalow feels like you're in the middle of a forest. We are so grateful to Alan and Barbara for the memorable stay!

Luis and Grace,
We so loved your beautiful energy and adventuresome spirit. We wish you both a long, healthful, and deeply connecting marriage. Thank you for choosing our sacred land, it also loved hosting you all.
Warmly, Alan and Barbara
My husband and I spent a few days here for our anniversary. We were looking for a peaceful escape where we could soak in a beautiful landscape, enjoy a quiet cup of coffee or wine and be still. And boy did Alan and Barbara’s place deliver! Our hosts took care of everything from researching options for kayaking and other local activities to providing an array of niceties in the room like fresh organic fruit, yogurt, and real coffee creamer, even a bottle of prosecco to help us celebrate. Walking the grounds to view the canyon, wildflowers and cactus flowers from many scenic overlooks was a highlight of the stay. And getting to enjoy the hosts’ fine art decorating the rental added a nice touch of culture as well. Enjoyed every minute and will be coming back!

Mandy and Brian. We so enjoyed having you for your anniversary celebration and have to admit you all really know how to enjoy yourselves in the surrounding Texas Hill Country. I hope you are enjoying Ron Yate's white Port wine from Spicewood Vineyards and look forward to having you back for more exploration at Krause Springs and Muleshoe Park as well as so many other destinations close by. You have a beautiful marriage and it was an honor to have you both at our place of paradise. Thanks for leaving the place immaculate! Warmly, Alan and Barbara Serota

The property was beautiful. Nine acres of beautiful trees, wildflowers, wildlife and benches to rest at along your walk on a nice path. The casita that we stayed in was very nice. Decorated with beautiful art that the home owners created. It was very clean and neat and well appointed with everything we needed. They provided coffee, tea and other delicious food items. They provided a quick information session regarding the casita upon arrival. The home owners are on site and very welcoming, but also keenly respectful of privacy. They provided tips on places to visit in the area. Overall we cannot say enough about this property. A beautiful place to enjoy nature and tune out. We will certainly be back to enjoy this property again.

It is always heartwarming when you are privileged to have such wonderful guests who take in the property, the surroundings, things to do in Spicewood and are also so respectful of our bungalow. You both were a delight to host and we look forward to your return. Thank you, Warmly, Alan and Barbara
Alan and Barbara provided an experience that was exceptional and exceeded every expectation we had. Their property is immaculate and beautiful and is equipped with everything you need. In addition, it’s very easy to get to Krause Springs from here and the bird watching from the porch was a serendipitous delight. Alan took us on a tour of the area and there’s so much to see. We will be back again. Thank you so much Alan and Barbara, you are amazing.

Why they chose this property
We choose this beautiful unspoiled acreage 45 years ago as we walked it and felt it's tranquility and spiritual grounding.
What makes this property unique
Nature created this unique property and because we are hosting only this one property it makes for a more private and intimate experience. With that said we are only 50 minutes to downtown Austin and a mere 20 minutes to Bee Cave Texas which is essentially West Austin.

They consistently provide great experiences for their guests
