We really enjoyed our time at the ranch. Directions were very clear and host was very responsive. We had everything we needed and more. Thanks for having us!
Eclectic, comfortable, stunning grounds are just a few of the comments from my Alumni college friends that stayed at the house. I wasn't able to make it, but they all really enjoyed their time at this property!
Each year I take my daughter, my daughter-in-law and two of my best friends on a girls weekend. This property is amazing. The views are beautiful. The property is so peaceful and quiet. Town is not that far away if you’d like to venture out.The house is well equipped with everything you will need very spacious the game room was a plus and of course the pool the hot tub in the sauna was wonderful. I have rented many homes and by far this one was the best. We are thinking about renting it again next year but in the fall so we can see the leaves change. I would highly recommend this home.
Spent a long weekend at the mountain top ranch. The pool and cabana were great. Awesome views and really neat property to explore. Host is easy to work with, we will be back.
This is our 3rd stay, and we hope for many more.
The peaceful and relaxing environment are just what we needed.
Ouf group of 6 spent hours enjoying all the outdoor space and everything the house has to offer.

Grounds & house were amazing and family had a great time. The house was left unkept by prior visitor and illness by maintenance staff to get home cleaned up prior to arrival.Maintenance was a no show to clean leaves from pool and common areas. 4 empty Propane containers and trash left laying around was picked up once alerting staff.New procedures should be put in place with a check off list being completed prior to arrival of new guests.Spending almost 1,000 a night I expected a WOW arrival instead of seeing all the trash from previous customer. nights credit would go a long way to soothe soul and lead to return visits.
Overall we love this house. Some maintenance needs to be updated but once I addressed these issues with the property manager Mana I knew she would address them. We booked again for next year
The property as well as the view were absolutely beautiful. The host was very responsive, usually within a couple minutes. The pool and hot tub were amazing. There were plenty of activities within the house like pool table, poker table, darts. The only thing that I would mention is that there were a lot of bees by the pool area. 4 of us ended up getting stung, so if you are allergic to bees, be careful. We would 100% recommend this property for a getaway.
My Grandparents built and lived in this home. As children,my cousins and I spent countless hours in this house. Four of us got the spend the 2 nights there reminiscing about our youth and grandparents.
The decor is nothing like what my Grandparents had. It is very eclectic. But the bones of the house were the same.
My husband and I had a wonderful weekend celebrating our wedding at Ricketts Glenn state park and needed a place for backup and a reception afterwards. This place tucked away was perfect for our small get-together. Family and our friends had a blast. Other than not being able to find wash clothes in the linin closet we all made do. Both the property owners were awesome working with. We absolutely loved getting pictures there....took us back in time. We met the owner amd she was so sweet and accommodating. She answered all our questions and gave us a tour through history of her family's mansion. We absolutely loved this place. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
This is our 4th time in this house, We really enjoyed staying at the Wise Potato Chip House. Every year we travel to stay @ VRBO house with our current family of 10. This was one of our best family vacations that we ever had. Beautiful views, great out doors, enough bathrooms for everybody, same with bedrooms , Game room was fun for all , although darts are a little dangerous with so many young children around. The only drawbacks that we had were cold pool ( heater was not raising pool temp above outside air) The kids had to get out after an hour or so to warm up. Internet was spotty at best. This is the only reason I gave a 4 instead of 5 rating, otherwise it would have been a 5.

perfect place for a family gathering
We were 9 adults, a child and two toddlers celebrating the 90th birthday of our mom, grandma and gigi. We chose the house because of its close proximity to Rickett's Glen State Park. There was room for everyone and nobody got into anyone's way. the card table was used by some, the pool table by others. Swimming pool was heated warm enough to enjoy at 80 and the hot tub was perfect. We enjoyed a campfire while a BBQ feast was prepared for all.
Given that it was 20-30 minutes from Rickett's glen, I was thoroughly surprised at the proximity of a large supermarket (Weis) less than 3 miles away and the variety of restaurants. We ate our arrival meal at Taste of Italy where our waitress Dana did a great job dealing wth the 12 of us.
and... I was finally able to introduce my sister and her offspring to Rickett's Glen, my favorite place east of the Mississippi.
I would go back here when visiting the area with this large family group anytime.

A Unique Experience
There’s no doubt that this location has beautiful views and it’s a one-of-kind home. The house is like a time capsule from 1950’s with a decor spanning multiple decades. When it was originally built, we can tell it must have been top of the line with high end touches. The layout is perfect for large groups with windows spanning almost end to end.
Everything about the home and property lead to so many questions and interesting conversations. Like how did a plane and boat get on top of the mountain? Does someone really live in the Mansion? Was the house built by the Wise Chip Company for a large family or perhaps to replace the servant quarters? What is the deal with the hippie camper? It surely is a property to spark your imagination of the previous owners and how so many oddities arrived at this mountaintop location.
With that being said, we were disappointed in the lack of information provided in the listing. Knowing in advance that the driveway was steep and mostly dirt would have been helpful. Luckily, we drove our truck but had it been my car, our trip would have been cancelled right away. We decided not to take food along and check out all the local restaurants in Berwick and Bloomsberg. The coming and going up and drown the driveway was frustrating for three meals a day. We could have stopped to get food to cook; however, finding mouse poop in the cabinets was too big of a gross factor.
Nonetheless, we can see how there are so many great reviews. The pool area would be perfect in the Summer. The hot tub, fire pit and lookouts were great. Mana was very responsive anytime we contacted her. Ultimately, the view wasn’t enough to make up for what disappointed us, so we won’t be returning. It may not have been the right fit for us but don’t let that stop you from booking it. Our experience most certainly may not be yours.
The house was very nice, the rooms are big and it is very spacious. The pool is huge and was clean, as well as the sauna. There is lots of outdoor space to eat and relax as well! The trip up the mountain was beautiful, but a bit rocky if your car is not prepared for dirt roads. The inside was clean for the most part, aside from the vents which seemed like they needed to be clean and bothered some of our breathing. This year is unusually cold for memorial day, and there was no heating on the property despite the central system, so if you are visiting during the colder months I would tell the owners you would like to use the fireplace, just in case (and bring your own firewood). We set it at 72, and tried raising it higher, but the house never got above 64. You may also want to bring additional beach towels if many people are planning to use the pool. You also will need to bring seasonings like salt and sugar, as there was none provided. Despite the house being close to the owners, we did not see them at all. Overall it was a nice stay, and the hosts are very kind and communicate in the app well, the only problems were the lack of heat and lack of basic seasonings.
This is our 3rd time staying at this property & we were finally able to enjoy the sauna ! This property is amazing. My children always look forward to “the big house” after our time at Knoebels.
Third time at this property and each visit we find something new!!! However, always clean and amenities amazing. One stop vacation venue, no need to stray off location. We met the pool attendant Josh, what a great guy as are Melissa and Mana. You will fall in love with the Wise Woodin Estate!!!!
Perfectly beautiful place to get exercise or relax.
Our family was looking for a peaceful, relaxing vacation and this was perfect. We could all be together or each find our own place. Sun or shade was available depending on preference and the pool and hot tub were enjoyed by all every day. The views were even better than the pictures. It definitely was an unforgettable vacation.
Mountain Top Ranch House was a fantastic house and location for our family of 10 (3 generations, 4 kids under 8). If you are looking for a beautiful getaway all to yourselves this is the place for you. While the description and reviews of the house and view were favorable, I wasn’t prepared for just how lovely it would be! At arrival we were greeted with a very large shaded well-kept yard. Walking into the house the big bright living room with huge window and gorgeous view took our breath away. The size of the bedrooms was unexpected with room for all of us to be very comfortable. The pool, decks, and observation platforms felt like being at a resort. The VRBO pool pictures are not current, and you’ll find covered decks, even a two-story structure to sit by the pool or eat at picnic tables. There were endless treasures to find on the property: seating areas, statues, historic water tower, and of course the view. The kids loved the golf cart rides, the wind in their hair looking for wildlife. Remember this is a 1960’s house so bathrooms, kitchen and laundry are not modern, but clean. There are many decorative objects that your little ones need to be aware of being careful. I would definitely recommend.
Second year staying at this beautiful location. The only bummer was the pool liner was torn, so we were unable to use it. Looking forward to returning next year.
Great interior vibe....very interesting art pieces and retro milieu! Outdoor property was amazing, close to nature, quiet and serene....loved our stay :)🤗
