This cabin/house was in beautiful location. The yard was great to cook and hang out. The are has plenty to do.I wish I could have stayed longer. Had a great time
All the ladies had a great time. Extra bonus it snowed while we were there! The outside was just beautiful with the fresh snow. Can't wait to do it again.
Group of 6 friends that meet each year. This was our first time at this property and we are already checking dates to rebook for next year! We found everything as advertised in this listing. Beautiful setting, super clean and spacious property.

Excellent as usual
Another successful retreat with all the quilting ladies. We love this house and are set up for our next year's retreats. Thanks to Dave and Mike for always taking good care of us!
It was exactly what we expected. Room for the family.

Always a good time
Back again for our quilt retreat. A full weekend of laughs, sewing, and eating. The home is perfect for us and we enjoy our time at this home in the early summer. The weather cooperated and it was only muggy and stuffy the first day, then the rain came in and it was cooler and more comfortable for the rest of the retreat, as the home does not have air conditioning. Got to see a bear also! Can't wait for next year.
Tucked away in the woods on top of a hill at the end of a long dirt driveway, this house was just what we were looking for. Close to Ricketts Glen State Park where we took three great hikes, including opening day of the falls trail, not to be missed. Also drove out to World’s End SP, another beautiful place to hike with very different scenery from Ricketts.
Dave, the owner, was very responsive to a couple of issues we had at the start of our stay. The fireplace was GREAT. A really strong draft and the brickwork inside it made the room quite cozy, unlike other fireplaces that actually suck the heat out of the room. Very easy to get going.
Nicely equipped kitchen and a lot of room everywhere. A little more furniture and some throw rugs, especially in the bedrooms, would be nice. But the location more than makes up for it. Truly enjoyed our stay.
The house is exactly as pictured and described in the listing. Lots of room and bed options for guests with kids. The kitchen was very well stocked with lots of dishes for large parties. There are plenty of towels and extra blankets and the beds are comfortable. There are ceiling fans and extra box fans in every bedroom. There is a house fan, as well, that cools down the entire house in the evening. The home is very private and peaceful, surrounded by woods all around. Our host, Dave was so friendly and communicative. He checked in before and during our trip to answer any questions and make sure our stay was enjoyable. He even took the time to ship me something I had left in the house. The property is a short drive to Glen Ricketts State Park where we visited every day of our stay. There is a super cute ice cream shop just a short drive from the house and is a must visit. There is a convenience store too that stocks the basics, like milk, eggs, chips and snacks. They also have made-to-order sandwiches and deli meat. Book your stay at this incredible property. You won't regret it!!

Left 2 days early
Looks great in photos, but house was damp and musty. Kitchen table and island were dirty. Coffee maker's basket hadn't been cleaned in some time. Toilet bowel clean, but not on back surface. Didn't have a dehumidifier. On day 3, 2nd floor ceiling was leaking and water puddled on the floor in hallway. Discovered mold and previous water damage that we didn't notice before. Contacted manager, who said he'd look into it after we left. Informed him that we wanted to leave 2 days early, and he came over the next day. We left 2 days early. He refunded us for 1 day and the cleaning fee. Disappointing.

Ardis, thank you for taking the time to leave your review. As you can see, yours is the first negative review this property has received - we hate that your experience was so disappointing. We've shared your feedback with the homeowners and wanted to pass along the following:
- We've never received this type of feedback on cleanliness, but we appreciate you letting us know about your concerns; we'll double down on cleaning procedures so future guests have nothing to worry about.
- We're also sorry about any extra moisture you experienced in the home; since there is no plumbing in the second-floor ceiling, the owners believe this was condensation from the extreme ranges in temperature during your stay. They'll continue to investigate so this is not an issue going forward.
We truly want to provide everyone with a five-star experience, and we hope the measures we took helped to make things right. Thanks again for your feedback and helping us improve.

Another great stay
It was cold and blowing and we were cozy and warm. The house is always just what we need for out girls get-a-way.
What can I say? My group and I traveled over six hours and we had the freedom to pick the house that seemed to have everything we wanted. This location and its owner blew past all of those expectations and gave us a stay we will never forget. The house is set back in the middle of the woods such that you can’t see anything but trees or hear anything but wildlife. It was so quiet and peaceful; I’ve never slept better. While the driveway does ascend into the woods, I would only imagine this to be a problem with a sedan driving after snowfall; any other car any other time would be fine.
The house itself is a spacious arched cabin with beautiful hardwood all around - with plenty of room for doing anything you would want to do. As some reviewers have noted, there isn’t much furniture (but what was there was comfortable). However, this means that the walls aren’t over-cluttered with knick-knacks and you can make the space what you want it to be – which is the point of a vacation. My group used the enormous kitchen table to put our phones and computers away and play board games together. The kitchen is very well stocked with any cooking utensils you would need; it is so spacious and inviting that we stuffed ourselves at every meal and enjoyed cooking together.
Out group also enjoyed the cabin as a staging ground for the endless hikes in the area. If you are a hiker of any interest or ability, this is a cabin you need to put on your list. Our group hiked on two consecutive days. The highlight was the incredible Ricketts Glen Waterfall Loop. This was the single best waterfall hike I’ve ever done and I’ve been on waterfall hikes all over the country. It’s not the size of any one waterfall, it’s the almost continuous series of waterfalls throughout the entire hike. My group was skeptical of us driving over six hours to stay at this cabin for this hike but I was a hero after they completed it!
Finally, I have to say something about the owner, Dave. He took the time to speak with me by phone before the hike to make sure I would feel at home in the cabin. He wanted to make sure our group enjoyed themselves and told us to text him if we needed anything at all. Finally, one of our group mistakenly left behind their laptop in the cabin. Dave insisted on mailing the laptop back with ultra-quick shipping and refused compensation for his efforts and the cost of shipping. What can you say about a host like that?
Reserve this home. You won't be sorry.
The house is in the mountains away from everyone. It doesn't have much furniture but has plenty of room. The driveway can be tough to drive up. It isn't paved and is steep. The kitchen is so well stocked with anything you need. The house has plenty of towels, sheets, detergent, soap, and basically anything else you will need. We had a blast there hanging out, enjoying the outdoors, and watching for animals.

Wonderful spacious cabin!
This was the perfect place for our family of 10 which included 4 kids 6-10 yrs old. There was limited furniture which suited us fine. The kitchen was deluxe and we had several meals at the large table. No AC but the whole house fan cooled the upstairs well enough. Downstairs was always cool. Beautiful porch and grounds, including the covered pavilion with the woodburning fireplace.
It felt like we were secluded on the top of the hill…and we were!
The property manager, Dave, was very attentive and kept in touch with us by text and phone calls.
We’ll definitely come back to this cabin if we are in this area!
Our spacious cabin was certainly the best place we’ve stayed at as a growing family! It was both rustic and modern. The limited furniture suited us fine since we had 4 grandchildren ranging from 10 to 6 yrs old who loved the abundant hardwood floors. Located in the woods on top of a hill we felt like we had the area all to ourselves (I think we did!!). The kitchen was fantastic and used by our family of 10.
Our host, Dave, was considerate and caring, and let us know if we needed anything (which we didn’t), to just ask.
If we are ever in the area again, this is where we’d like to stay!
Price is reasonable. Location worked well for us. Beautiful, big place with everything we needed. Checking in was easy and no problem getting a hold of someone if we had questions. Definitely would recommend to others.
Great house lots of room!! The covered fire pit outside was awesome!!

Beautiful, secluded home
This house was perfect for our family vacation: lots of space, a beautiful and secluded property, lots of peace and quiet, and everything that we needed. We really enjoyed our stay.
This house was perfect for our family: LOTS of space, everything that we needed, beautiful property, and lots of peace and quiet. We really enjoyed our stay and plan to come back.
It was larger than expected (2 story, large living room and open kitchen/dining) and the host is very accessible and helpful. He provided wood, the house has cooking amenities (plates, utensils, pots, etc.), full stove, grill outside, outdoor fireplace (we used when it rained) and fire ring. If you are a foodie and need your favorite pan bring it, but we didn't need anything. A few minutes from Rickets Glen hiking trails and lake for swimming. Has a nice grass area and the driveway was not hard to enter as someone else mentioned. Rock/dirt road at the end but we had front wheel drive minivan and small suv's, no issue. A lowered Honda Accord may struggle with clearance but any normal car/suv/truck, no issue. We brought fans as it was a hot muggy week and the house has a whole house fan. It's in trees so deet/OFF recommended, but you are in the woods so to be expected. Great place we hope to rent again.
Everybody loved the place. The pavilion with the fireplace is where we spent the majority of our time. Good golf in the area including a fantastic meal at Mill Race club house. Bill’s bike barn in Berwick is also very interesting.
