Exceeded Expectations
This stay exceeded our expectations. The house was very clean, comfortable, and inviting. The furniture was nice and comfy. They provided a lot of complimentary "extras" (coffee, creamer, tea, toiletries, etc.) for us to enjoy, as well as delicious fresh pastries from the local bakery! Deb was very good with communication and stopped by to give us some restaurant recommendations and make sure we had everything we needed. She also found a forgotten item and offered to mail back. I will definitely book here for my next Pella trip!

About the host

Hello!
We are Donnie & Debbie Buchanan. Raised and graduated from high school in the Quad City, Illinois area. Our lives took us to opposite sides of the United States, Florida & California to start our journey. I had finally moved back to the Heartland living in my dream home in the country for 10 years. When our mutual friends thought that our paths should cross again after 32 yrs. Well they were right! We recently celebrated our 4th anniversary. My husband takes great joy in letting everyone know that in two small words he became a husband, step-dad, and grandpa aka Paka! After I married the confirmed bachelor of 56yrs we called home in Tampa, Florida for 3 yrs. My husband is a Graphic Designer working for 20yrs at Moffitt Cancer Research Center, based in Tampa, Florida. It was easy for me to take my skills as a Social Worker in Nursing Homes to Florida. We had always planned to move back to southern Iowa. 2017 was the perfect time to make that happen.
We love to travel! The opportunity for us to purchase our vacation rental in the beautiful Dutch community of Pella, Iowa was perfect. Our Daughter and family live in Pella. What a Great way to spend more time with them. So, here we are ready and excited to have you stay with us. We look forward to welcoming, you, your friends, and loved ones! It is our hope that you will find all the comforts of home as you relax and vacation in and around Pella, Red Rock Lake, Knoxville, Newton, and the surrounding areas.

Why they chose this property

Donnie and I enjoy traveling. We have spent our vacations in homes across the United States and Europe. We have taken being a Vacation Home Owner very seriously. We want you to enjoy your stay with us. Therefore we have taken all the little extras we have enjoyed in our stays and made them a part of your stay with us. We enjoy being pampered. So pampering you with little unexpected items in our home for your stay is something we enjoy. At the end of the day you can come back to the comforts of home. If you want to cook you have a complete kitchen for making the simplest to whatever you would like to create. There is a barbeque outside weather permitting. Large Screen TV, Books, Games, and Movie selection for your use. We have provided 3 different mattresses for sleeping comfort. We feel that you will find all of the amenities of home without the hassle of packing!
Upon request we have many amenities such as double air mattress, 2 pak n play beds, 2 youth cots, 1 adult cot, high chair, booster seat, toddler toys, coloring books, crayons, puzzles, childrens videos. These items will assist parents in their packing for a vacation away.

What makes this property unique

Why Pella? Pella is a beautifully kept community right here in the Heartland of Iowa. Well known for it's strong Dutch Heritage and the annual Tulip Festival held in May. Close to Red Rock Lake and Dam, as well as the Knoxville Raceway. You want to get away from the hustle and bustle of home. Here is a relaxing, quiet, and beautiful community. Sometimes, we just need to get away. After a day of strolling the shops, eating Pella Pastries, or Pella Bologna you can come back to the comforts of home. There are always things to do, places to visit and festivities throughout the Summer within Pella and the surrounding area. Fall and Winter will lend it's own beauty to Pella. There is nothing like stepping back in time to the memories that old town squares offer you throughout the holidays. Shopping in Pella is refreshing and you are sure to find a few unique gifts. If you like quilting a stop by the Quilted Windmill is definitely on your list of to dos!
