Very beautiful area, house is updated and in very good shape! Kids loved the bunk bed style rooms. No wifi but honestly don't need it with everything you can do around the area.
We rented this property for 3 nights for a family getaway and were thrilled with the accommodations! The open concept was perfect for our family and the space is larger that it appears in the photos. The house had everything we needed and the owner was a dream to work with! We highly recommend this property for your stay in the Pella area.
We get together each year with my cousins from Nebraska and Illinois. This year we attended the NASCAR race at the Iowa Speedway. This VRBO property was a great home to accommodate all of us together and easy access to the Iowa Speedway.
We had a great weekend at this house. The big table in dining room was great for hosting meals.
Two pieces of feedback:
Please provide better, and perhaps permanently installed, child safety gates at stairwells both inside and outside.
Please provide mowed and easy to navigate pathway/walkway to the lake.

Thanks Chris for staying! Thanks also for the feedback! This year brought high water which came with driftwood so access to the lake would have been a little more difficult going over that area, sorry.
We do provide a baby gate in the front closet but I understand some families wanting one for both inside and out on the deck. Thanks again for your feedback!
The house has a very large open living room upstairs, plenty of bedrooms for us. The backyard is large, although most of it fairly steep slope towards the lake. The lake was up several feet when we stayed, so the beach in the photos was under water. Pella is a 7-8 minute drive away. Overall we liked the property.
We had family from Nebraska and Illinois meet midway for some quality family time with babies up to grandparents. Great house to accommodate all our needs! We cooked, ate, laughed, played cards a just hung out. Really enjoyed the town of Pella and renting a boat for a day on the lake. One thing, the walk down to the beach area is more challenging than you might expect. Not all of our family members were able to make it down there, so sharing as an FYI.
It’s a gorgeous open floor plan house with 6 bedrooms, two large living rooms. Perfect for our extended family to gather and reconnect. Close to the beach with shallow water perfect for kids. I’d highly recommend it.
Loved the spaciousness of the living and kitchen areas!
The trip to the beach gets steep at the end so we were unable to take the infants. Would be awesome if everyone is over 5 years of age - both for beach and bunk beds that are available.
We had a wonderful time with our 4 adult children, their spouses and 5 kids age 4 and under!
Perfect house for our group! Great spot where you are a short drive to downtown, but can spread out in the huge backyard which also had a great fire pit. The inside is beautifully updated and was very clean! I will definitely stay here again!
Excellent place to stay, wish we would have had more time to enjoy the owners property. Beautiful location and excellent neighborhood. Highly recommend! Would only suggest TVs in the main bedrooms. 😁
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the "Lake House" (as we called it). The home is very understated (and almost small-looking) from the outside. As soon as you step inside, you are struck with the openness and beauty of the home. It is simple in its design, but very practical and usable. The double deck/patio is wonderful and well as the dining table inside. The arrangements of beds worked well for our family.
The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and utensils.
We had such a wonderful time in the water. The back yard is long and sloping, and leads down to the lake. It has a wonderful fire pit a nice distance away from the house with a dozen chairs around it. We brought our kayaks along with us and had a wonderful time playing in the water and on the beachy area. The water level stays shallow for 20-30 feet, so the kids loved playing in the water.
As our family grows and we can no longer stay with "Grandma and Grandpa" at their house, we would love to use this house again in the coming years.
This is a beautiful property. Very clean with many amenities! It is a bit of a sleeper as it doesn’t look that big from the outside but it is quite large with luxurious furnishings.
We celebrated with our family as we had been unable to be together for 18 months due to the pandemic.
The location close to Des Moines was perfect as our son flew in from the Air Force.
All total we were 7 adults and 3 children (ages 5, 7, and 12)—the bedrooms and beds worked perfectly for this group. And we all want to know where you got the sumptuous bedding! We all slept like babies!
Kitchen was fairly well stocked with pots, pans etc. (The only suggestion would be an exhaust fan—probably a benefit to owner and renters alike.) Plenty of room to seat us all at the dinner table and a little overflow at the bar if need be. And plenty of room to watch the summer olympics and play Scattergories at night!
We were a short walk down to our own beach and had a lovely fire pit area for roasting marshmallows and making S’mores.
Plus, Pella has some lovely shopping including bakeries and butcher shops. The Lake Red Rock visitor center was very nice and very kid friendly. We loved the Vermeer windmill museum as well.— worth the visit!
And best of all…Brandon was so responsive and flexible with us.
Thank you Brandon for everything and for giving our family a chance to reconnect! That is priceless!!
We had a great visit over the 4th of July weekend. The place was modern and clean and has many bedrooms for adults and kids. Although there were only 2 bathrooms, it worked fine overall for our group and they provide plenty of good quality towels. The kitchen was well supplied with pots, pans and utensils. Beds and furniture were comfortable. We enjoyed the water although access is through a narrow path and steep, so was harder for grandparents. It was also easy to get into nearby towns for activities and supplies.
Great house with plenty of space to spread out for a larger group. Awesome for outdoor activities being right on the lake with a big yard, fire pit, and canoes to use. I would definitely go back!
Fantastic weekend at Lake Red Rock.
The description was incredibly accurate and the previous reviews highlighted things incredibly well. Loved the location with a beautiful view of the lake and wildlife. Saw multiple bald eagles, orioles, and other animals while hiking around by the lake.
Property was great for our guys weekend with plenty of room for games like bags, boccee ball, etc. House was incredibly clean and the directions laid out seamlessly of what was expected to clean up. A ton of room with great beds. Slept 12 of us 30 something guys without a problem.
Brandon was great to work with. Incredibly responsive and helpful.
Absolutely recommend for a family weekend or a friends getaway.
The house was beautiful, the location was perfect, the lake and wild life were fantastic. A pair of bald eagles live in the vicinity and hunt and fly around - fantastic to watch. The lake is peaceful, very close to town. Perfect place for all my Pella cousins, aunts and uncles to come visit and get reacquainted in a beautiful environment and house. Brought back a lot of good memories from when I lived in Pella.
