This was the most clean and well kept cabin we have rented on current river. We loved having river access, the enclosed patio is amazing, like having a second living area! It exceeded our expectations. Also I think the two bunk beds are twin over queen, so much roomier than we thought!

The property was beautifully located on the Current River with easy access to enjoy the river. The house and grounds were very clean and well maintained considering the location and challenges associated with the river. The proximity to Van Buren and other places for entertainment was most convenient. The host is very friendly and eager to provide assistance if required.We really enjoyed our stay and am looking forward to returning.

Great place, comfortable, kitchen is stocked with all the pots, pans, and utensils you'll need. Big yard with clover, deer come around at night. Big deck with a great view of the river or the stars/meteors at night. River is beautiful, lots of amazing springs nearby, and Rocky Falls is an excellent place to swim.There are a few nails sticking up on the deck, including on the stairs coming up. No biggie, but you'll want to be careful walking barefooted until those are fixed.And there's a surprisingly large grocery store in Van Buren if you run out of food like we did, haha. They're open relatively late too.

The cabin was roomy and spotless, and contained everything we needed. The host was responsive. The location of the cabin is perfect. It is right on the river, with a large gravel bar just across the river from the cabin. The kitchen had all we needed to cook our own meals, but there is also a good variety of restaurants in town. I don't know how somebody can give this cabin an 8 out of 10 with no comments to explain why, because this is a phenomenal place. It's a great spot for any time of the year. We will definitely be back.

Very cute and clean place right on the river. Only about a mile and a half to 2 miles from town. Nice clean grill to cook on and all the amenities that you need. Internet worked well also

About the host

The Cummings family has been lucky enough to call this little piece of the Current River theirs for decades. Marc is happiest when he’s outside, driving the boat, exploring backroads in the side-by-side, playing disc golf, or “hunting,” which we’re fairly certain is mostly an elaborate excuse to hang out in the woods with his buddies.

Kara is a science teacher, yoga instructor, and Pom Squad dance coach in Poplar Bluff, so naturally her life is a strange combination of biology, deep breathing, and glitter. Her roots in Van Buren run deep. Both of her parents were born and raised here, and she spent countless childhood summers on this river playing with all of her cousins.

Marc and Kara have two teenagers, which means most of their free time is spent enthusiastically chauffeuring, attending school events, sitting in bleachers, and wondering how the calendar got so full. When everyone manages to be in the same place at the same time, the Cummings family loves being at the river, boating, exploring, laughing, relaxing, and making the kind of memories that keep bringing them back here.

We love sharing this place because it has been part of our family story for generations, and we hope our guests leave with a few good river stories of their own.

What makes this property unique

Our cabin is unique because it is right on the river, with immediate access from the cabin. However with this uniqueness comes responsibility.

Please be aware that our cabin and Brown Road can be affected by flooding during periods of heavy rain. It does not have to be raining in Van Buren for flooding to occur, as rainfall upstream can cause the Current River to rise quickly. Brown Road may become impassable, potentially preventing access to or from the cabin. In significant flooding, the cabin property itself may also be affected. Please take all flood watches and warnings seriously and never drive through flooded roadways. You may check river conditions by going to this site:
