My mom and I visited OBA for a mother-daughter trip and due to limited inventory (I assume due to on-going repairs and spring break), we ended up booking a condo at Phoenix X. First, I want to say that the front office staff, on-site on the ground level, was excellent. They were very friendly, helpful and addressed anything we needed during our stay. Having the check in desk on property was a huge bonus and it was very convenient.
A few things I want to comment on for future travelers are location, condition of the property, and condo amenities.
This condo building is RIGHT next door to Florabama. Some may appreciate that, some may not. This particular condo unit is in the middle of the building, so we did not hear music late at night or anything, it was fine. During the day, the beach in front of FloraBama is very crowded and music is playing so you might want to move east if you prefer your own tunes!
The building took a hit during the hurricane in 2020 and they still have a lot of repairs to make. The outdoor pool was closed and the boardwalks were blocked off, still being repaired. Due to the boardwalks from the condo to the beach being blocked off, there is quite a hike all the way around the parking garage to get to a walkway that would take you to the beach. It was ok, but just be prepared if you have someone with you who can't walk long distances.
One other thing to note is how basic this condo unit is. When I say basic, I mean BASIC!!! The kitchen tools are minimal and there were no frills---some condos will give you a roll of paper towels, a tiny thing of clothes detergent, a little bottle of dishwashing soap, conditioner, etc.... That is NOT the case here. I am not complaining about this, I am just simply telling future travelers this so you can be prepared. We usually stay in condos that provide extras, but this unit comes with nothing but a little bottle of shampoo and a sample packet of dishwashing detergent (which was nice so we didn't have to buy a bottle of cascade to wash one load of glasses.)
Overall, we enjoyed our stay but likely won't return to Phoenix X. This is an older building and it is starting to show it's age. Wear and tear is obvious throughout this particular unit and if we are going to spend thousands on a vacation, we have higher expectations. I will say this unit/building would be perfect for a bachelor/bachelorette party or a weekend away with college friends who just want to have fun!
