Welcome to Cliveden Stud's Garden Cottage, a beautifully appointed 3-bedroom holiday retreat nestled in the heart of the historic Cliveden Stud Estate previously owned by Lord William Astor, 3rd Viscount Astor, Member of the House of Lords and MP for Fulham East and Wycombe. The family were active in thoroughbred horse racing on the Stud and produced numerous Ascot Winning race horses.
Our cottage was routinely visited by Lord John Profumo, Secretary of State for War and 19-year-old model Christine Keeler in 1961, also known as the 'Profumo Affair'.
Surrounded by 160 acres of private countryside Ground, Horse Stables and unkept Racing Fields immediately within the Cliveden Stud Ground.
Just a stone’s throw from the grand Cliveden House and its iconic National Trust gardens spanning over 3,000 acres across the road. This cottage offers a peaceful escape with modern comforts and timeless charm.
Upstairs, the property features three spacious double bedrooms—ideal for families or small groups. A well-equipped bathroom is also located upstairs, offering a bath, overhead shower, sink, and toilet for a comfortable and convenient stay.
Downstairs, guests are greeted by a generously sized open-plan kitchen and living area. The fully equipped kitchen is perfect for home cooking and includes premium appliances such as a Nespresso coffee machine, kettle, toaster, Nutribullet juicer, air fryer, washing machine, and dedicated dryer. A large Samsung fridge freezer is also provided, along with essentials like tea, coffee, sugar, sweeteners, sauces, and condiments to get you started.
The open-plan layout connects the kitchen to a bright and inviting living room that overlooks a wildflower paddock—a perfect view for your morning coffee or evening unwind. The lounge includes two large sofas (which can double as extra sleeping spaces), a large smart TV equipped with a Firestick, and access to all premium entertainment, including Sky, Sports, and Movies.
Step outside to enjoy the private and cosy garden, which features a Lay-Z-Spa hot tub for guest use—a luxurious touch for relaxing after a day of exploring the countryside. Whether you’re soaking in the tub under the stars or enjoying a drink on the patio, the outdoor space is designed for comfort and serenity.
Parking is easy and convenient, with three dedicated guest spaces located on the right side of the property, clearly marked with “Guest Reservation” signs.

Why they chose this property
We chose the Cliveden area because it offers the perfect balance of countryside charm and timeless elegance. Nestled beside the historic Cliveden Estate and its stunning National Trust grounds, the neighborhood has a peaceful, almost storybook quality to it—where rolling green fields meet ancient woodlands, and the River Thames gently winds through the landscape.
What we love most is the feeling of stepping into nature without being far from the conveniences of Maidenhead, Marlow, and Windsor. The air is fresher here, the skies clearer, and mornings are often greeted with birdsong or deer in the distance.
The nearby walking trails and river paths are simply incredible. Whether it’s a quiet morning stroll through the Cliveden woods or a picnic by the riverbanks, the area feels like a retreat—one we feel lucky to share with our guests.
There’s a deep sense of history here too, with Cliveden House just moments away, known for its gardens, architecture, and iconic guests over the centuries. It’s a place where the past and present blend seamlessly, and that’s what makes this neighborhood so special.

What makes this property unique
We fell in love with the Cliveden Stud Estate because it’s not just a location—it’s a living piece of British history wrapped in nature and elegance.
Set within 160 acres of private countryside, the estate is steeped in heritage, once owned by the Astor family and woven into the fabric of one of the UK’s most talked-about political events—the Profumo Affair. That rich, storied past adds a unique character to everything here.
We chose this area because it offers the rarest of combinations: total seclusion and peacefulness, yet with immediate access to some of the country’s finest experiences. Across the road lies the magnificent Cliveden House and its world-renowned National Trust gardens and woodland trails. Around us, wildflower paddocks stretch into unkept racing fields, once home to Ascot-winning racehorses. There’s a quiet magic here—where history, nature, and luxury intertwine.
What we enjoy most is the deep sense of calm you feel as soon as you arrive. Whether it’s an early walk through the misty fields, watching deer cross the treeline, or a sunset soak in the garden hot tub, life slows down here in all the right ways.
And yet, we’re just minutes from fine dining in Marlow, Cookham, and Bray, Michelin-starred restaurants, boutique shopping, and riverside pubs. That balance—peace without isolation—is exactly what makes this place so special to us, and why we love sharing it with others.
