The space was absolutely amazing and just perfect for us. The property owners communicated frequently in a caring way but allowed us the privacy we desired. We will return next year for another great experience.

Our stay in Fish Creek at O’Meara’s was fantastic! The loft is in the perfect spot, close to town but not too close. Megan’s hospitality was wonderful & the place was perfect for our getaway to Door County. We will definitely be returning in the future!

A wonderful place to stay while in Door County!
The location of this charming studio was perfect. We walked everywhere in Fish Creek. The studio sits above the O'Meara Irish House. It was very quiet, private and comfortable. The owner, Megan, greeted us with a basket of Irish goodies and even welcomed our dog with dog treats. We will be staying again when we return to Door County.

Sherla, it was wonderful to meet you and have you as our guests. Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay in Door County so much. Now that you've gotten to experience Door in September, you need to come back to see the cherry blossoms in the spring too. Hope to see you again soon. Megan

Great Loft, Great Hospitality
This was a perfect place to spend Christmas! Cozy, charming loft with everything we could possibly need and then some. (I don't know if we NEEDED fancy Cadbury biscuits, but they sure were delicious!) The loft is so convenient--very walkable to restaurants, shops, music venues, AND the state park. Megan is so friendly and professional and funny. We were so glad to find a charming, affordable place that was also dog-friendly--actually, more than just dog-friendly--more like dog-loving. Wonderful getaway!

Carla and Tom,
Thank you for your review and your stay. We enjoyed having you as our guests. It was special that you chose to spend Christmas up in Door. It's a magical time of year, especially when the county is blanketed with snow. Really looking forward to seeing you again on your next trip. Until then, take good care of yourselves.

We have stayed at O’Meara’s Irish cottage many times. It’s our go-to if it’s just the two of us. It’s always clean with plenty of towels, kitchen appointments, and reliable WiFi (barring any storms). Specialty shampoo, conditioner, and soap are supplied. The only minor drawbacks are the stairs, which are a bit annoying when bringing us luggage, and the small AC unit when it gets very hot and humid. There is a small fan which helps circulate the cooler air. Other than that, it’s a great spot in a good location to explore up and down the “ thumb.”

Privacy in Fish Creek!
The property for us was in a perfect location-right up from the park entrance, as we had bikes with us, just blocks from all the major hub-bub, yet so totally private you can sip you coffee on the deck in pjs overlooking the cedar forest, with no one even passing by! And this past weekend when we stayed was one of the busiest of the summer! Quality furnishings have you feeling right at home. The layout is spacious and it was spotless! Megan was a great hostess and had us feeling very welcome. Fun to try the Irish specialties in the welcome basket as well. We will be back!

nice getaway for two
Nice and private and quiet upper cottage. Well equipped kitchen and big comfy king bed. Loved that Megan allowed dogs.
Our only suggestions would be to add transitions where the new floor meets the old to avoid stubbed toes. And add several hooks for hanging coats, scarves etc. To avoid having to throw clorhing over chairs.
It was a comfy spot in a great location.

James,
Thanks for taking the time to review our guest house and for letting us be a part of your celebration. :) We're glad that the fall colors held out for your visit. Thanks for your suggestions about the floor. We'll work on that. I hope you did notice that we do have hangers and a bar to hang your coats and clothing. We appreciate the feedback and hope to see you in Fish Creek again very soon. Slán Abhaile! Megan

Everything you need and more!
We enjoyed our stay at the Irish Hospitality suite in Fish Creek, County Door (Just like a wee little trip to Ireland). We had everything we needed and more. Luxurious sheets , bath towels in just a very quaint and clean surrounding. It was nice that we could bring our labradoodle with us on this trip since it was last minute-Megan had treats and water waiting for her and plenty of information about the area for us! Town for shopping and Peninsula Park were within walking distance- a bike rental available nearby. We also enjoyed shopping at Megan's Irish shop adjacent to the apartment. Lovely! Thank you!

Perfect !
The loft above O'Meara's was absolutely perfect for us! The location is ideal; everything in Fish Creek is walkable, yet it is just far enough from a lot of foot traffic that it feels very private. It is much more spacious than the pictures imply. Everything was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the deck and our puppy enjoyed the 'woods' next door. The basket of Irish goodies was a nice bonus as well as the discount in the store. Megan and all of the shop employees were very nice, attentive and great resources. We only stayed 3 nights but we'd love to come again; maybe even in the fall or winter. Thank you!

Great, convenient place to stay with walking access to Peninsula State Park and downtown Fish Creek!
The cottage loft perfectly suited our needs. My Girlfriend and I, and her dog stayed here in December, 2015 and Megan was beyond welcoming and accommodating. The loft was clean and well-maintained, the bed was big, and the welcome basket was a nice, generous touch.
A couple of warnings, which shouldn't reflect poorly on the property or the host: if you're staying in the late fall/winter - you may want to bring a small humidifier as the place does get rather dry. Also, if you're staying on a very windy night as we were, you may hear the large pine trees connected to the deck creaking as they sway. It took a bit of getting used to, especially with a dog, but it was also an exceptionally windy evening with gusts topping 30 mph.
Overall we absolutely loved this property, Fish Creek, and Megan was a delight. Thank you for sharing this with us and for being so accommodating to pets; we will be back in the Summer!

Brad, so glad you enjoyed your stay! It was rather windy when you were here, so I'm glad that didn't stop you from hiking through Peninsula State Park. I appreciate all your thoughtful comments. We're torn about that tree! It gives such lovely shade during the day over the balcony that we would be sad to see it taken down, but we certainly don't want anyone disturbed by it. We'll have to see what the tree expert recommends. We look forward to your next visit. Fish Creek and Door County should really be experienced all four seasons. Thanks again for your review and have a very happy new year! Megan

OK overall, but wouldn't choose to stay here again
On a positive note: (i) the hospitality was welcoming, friendly and helpful, (ii) the location was great on the edge of town yet within walking distance of all of the shops and restaurants, (iii) the basket of Irish goods was a lovely (and tasty!) touch and (iv) the interior of the unit was nice (although a second comfy chair would have been nice for hanging out). On a negative note: (i) the outside space was sub-par (options were an unattractive balcony and/or a patio facing a propane tank and parking lot), (ii) the stairs, entry door and windows were all rotting/moldy (extremely uninviting), (iii) the window A/C unit was extremely loud (needed to run it because only two windows open) and (iv) the fridge was also really loud when it kicked in.
Wishing Meagan all the best but we would choose a different place to stay next time we visit Door County!

Milda, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. I always like to hear what people did like as well as what they didn't. I am a little surprised though at your 2 star rating given all the positives you shared (our location, your welcome, the interior, etc.) and the lovely note that you left in our guest book. It sounds as though you won't be joining us again, which is unfortunate, but we know we can't please everyone as much as we try. I am glad that you enjoyed Door County over all and hope you do return to continue to explore this beautiful peninsula.
The air conditioner unit is going to be replaced at the end of this season since we would like to relocate it to the kitchen area. That will give a nice cross breeze in the bedroom. I've never had any complaints about the refrigerator being loud. A lot of our guests love having the use of a full kitchen and make comments on that, but I'll look into it.
Our building is quite a bit older, which gives it its charm as well as some maintenance challenges. One of the benefits of being surrounded by big cedar trees is the shade over the balcony. The shade does age the wood more quickly and I fully agree that some of the boards need to be replaced. That hasn't prevented the majority of our guests from enjoying the balcony (which is sturdy) and faces a wooded area with hanging flower baskets, not the propane tank. We do have a lower deck that is located near the propane tank which is just how the building was situated. The lower deck was all rebuilt and newly stained last fall.
We always think about our guests' comfort and place priority where it is needed. Our plan is to re-blacktop the driveway after the big highway 42 project is completed since we will be losing some of our parking lot to make room for town sidewalks. It just makes sense to do everything at once.
I hope that this information is helpful to you and to others who plan on joining us in the future.
Megan
A wonderful host! Cozy little retreat with all the amenities you need. Great location! Absolutely relaxing amongst the tall cedars and pines. We loved our stay.
This property is so cute. It’s was the perfect amount of space for two adults and two little dogs. It’s in the edge of Fish Creek, you can still walk downtown, but it’s quiet. We loved it
Excellent sleep accommodations, super clean, beautiful flowers & Irish snacks upon arrival (nice added touches). Nice fluffy, absorbent towels. New shower stall & washer & dryer. Location walking to everything Fish Creek has to offer. We can't wait to return next year. Feels just like home!
My stay was perfect. Megan’s the best host offering amazing hospitality with a basket of Irish goodies to snack on. It was very quiet and comfortable. Great and convenient location. Perfect! I’ll be back.
Very clean and comfy. Luxurious towels, well equipped kitchen, walking distance to downtown Fish Creek. Contactless check in. Gracious host. We would definitely stay here again

About the host
Hosted by Megan O'Meara
O'Meara's Irish House has been a part of the Fish Creek story for decades. In 2006, we opened O'Meara's Cottage Loft so that we could share the Irish hospitality experience we've come to love in our travels to Ireland.
Why they chose this property
We feel very blessed to get to live and work in beautiful Door County and love a chance to share our rental with our guests, many of whom have returned year after year.
