The location was fantastic! We were able to walk most places that we wanted to go in Key West! The condo and pool were great! We didn’t stay in Alhambra due to deck construction, but the rental company gave us an equivalent condo (Seascape). The only negative was that the property was full of construction materials. It looked like a lot of maintenance was going on, and the materials were all over sometimes in the walkways. Overall, we would definitely stay at Truman Annex again!

Great location

The condo itself was great. The location was perfect for us. The only improvements we believe that are needed would be that the linens, sheets and towels are a little “tired” and need to be upgraded.

Couple of obstacles

On arrival our condo was not clean / ready. However mgt at Compass Realty provided a better option at a different condo, which was a very comfortable stay overall. We would consider using again in future.

The patio is above the downstairs living room & it sounded like those above moved furniture most of the day. The parking space is too far from the unit when unloading & loading the car. We did have one complaint, after arriving in the unit you find a sign warning you if you freeze the AC unit you have to pay to fix it!! Truth!! Get this, minimum setting allowed 74 degrees! This info comes to you after moving in.

Amazing Vacation!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our 5th trip to Key West and our 3rd stay at the Shipyard Complex. We just love the location and we drive so having available parking is a must. We used the pool every day. The pool and pool area were always clean. Our condo was clean and very nice. Only issues were the bedroom had a king bed which was exactly the width of the room so you had to scoot down to the bottom of the bed to get out. That was very difficult. The bathroom was small with about a 25 watt lightbulb, very dark. The lock on the front door was extremely hard to use. The sofa bed in the tv area was extremely uncomfortable. Having said that we will be back, you will never find all the comforts of home in a rental. We ate at Clemente’s Firewood pizza several times...great pizza, meatballs and Caesar salad. Also ate at the Boat House for a great happy hour appetizer menu, Louie’s Backyard and the Hogfish! All a must!!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Upon check in, the unit was in need of a cleaning and generalized upgrading & updating. The dryer did not dry all our clothes in one cycle, and the lid on the washer was frequently difficult to open. Also, there was little to no storage area for guests’ clothes, etc..There was dust throughout the unit, in air vents from A/C and closets, but most notably, there was dried vomit on the bottom of a chest of drawers in the living area. Unfortunately, that wasn’t discovered until we had totally unpacked our car! We called and passed this unsatisfactory condition to Marissa, with Compass, and she immediately apologized & gave us a refund on our cleaning deposit. We did complete our stay, and were totally pleased with the attention & service we got from Marissa and Compass. I would definitely recommend Marissa and Compass Realty, but would NOT recommend staying in unit 170 unless I was able to inspect it first, and see correction of the above issues.

Dirty (Don't waste your money)

The property was a good location, but the condo itself is dirty and run down. We stayed from for 8 days at the end of May 2022. I wish some of these reviews were up before we had booked. The unit is outdated, and very dirty. The towels were stained and I found in the cluttered closets a new set which we used over and over, the washer and dryer did work properly. The sheets had to be washed before we slept in them, the bath tub won't drain and the smoke detector keep beeping. I called the emergency number after hours about the issues, but they stated they couldn't do anything. We were told to take down the detector and put it on the freezer. We only got 2 rolls of TP for the entire week and were told to buy our own. We were also asked to strip the bed and start washing the linens also take out the garbage. Isn't that why you pay a cleaning fee. The green chair should be thrown right in the dumpster and the pillows were like lead. I emailed Compass and never have gotten a response. I did contact VRBO and hopefully I can get some closure there. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS ONE. I took photos to prove it which I can't attach. Thankfully we always keep our luggage zipped up.

Plenty of towels available. Property is in a quiet location. The king size bed in master is only negative really. It is too big for room. No side tables. Cannot crawl in and out but for end of bed. Not for mobility challenged. Only reason I would not rebook.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: When we arrived, there was water all over the bathroom floor from a leaking toilet. I called the emergency number & left a message. No response. I sent a text message. No response. I called again & was treated like I was unreasonable for asking to have the leak fixed. I was told that a plumber had been called but couldn't be there that night, Saturday. Understandable, but a response to my messages would have been nice.Had issues with the TV not working which were resolved after a couple of phone calls & a couple of days.Patio furniture was dirty. So we didn't use the patio. We went to the pool to sit outside.I felt the communications with staff were great before our stay but very lacking with issues we had during our stay.We visit Key West nearly every year. This was our first time using Compass Realty & we will not use them again.
