About this property
Relax, golf, fish & disconnect from today's fast pace living on Sand Lake
Escape to this cabin on picturesque Sand Lake-- take the Paddle Board out and do some swimming & fishing. This cozy retreat features 2 bedrooms - one with a queen bed and the other with a bunk bed. The added sleeping arrangement is a queen sized sofa sleeper in the Living Room. We provide you all the comforts of home; because this is my childhood vacation home-- our motto is: "if its open, use it". So feel free to use up spices, baggies, trash bags, soaps, etc. I stock plenty of bath towels, beach towels, bedding, etc. You will even find a charcoal grill, air fryer, and insta-pot. Please remember that this is my second home; and the decorations and belonging are my families' personal effects and most likely heirlooms. Enjoy Sand Lake and hang out on the new swim-up bench where you can be half in and half out of the water.
Bring your clubs & poles as the cabin is nestled between Sand Lake & the Moose Lake Golf Course. It was built by my great grandfather in the 1920s. I am proud that the charm & exposed logs have been loved and well-maintained for nearly a century. Legend has it, that each of the field stones that make up the fireplace were numbered & moved from Duluth to Moose Lake.
Moose Lake is such a charming little town-- cute little coffee shops, a brewery, an old time movie theater, etc. The golf course is open to the public and does have club rentals as well; there is also a pontoon rental available at the Sand Lake Resort on the lake.
I've been in Moose Lake and the surrounding area my entire life, I'm happy to provide dining suggestions and to-do's!

Why they chose this property
I inherited the cabin from my loving grandparents. Dick was a Standard Oil and railroad man and June was a champion golfer. The clubhouse holds many awards with her name on it and she accomplished every golfer's dream: a hole in 1. You will find the trinkets of their lives scattered around the cabin.
What makes this property unique
Rumors began swarm the Duluth area in the mid 1920's that an 18 hole golf course was going to be constructed, but the Stock Market crash forced the golf club to sell the "back 9" before they were built. My great grandparents who were able to remain wealthy due to the Soo Line Railroad and purchased a lot and thus, the start of the Hambly Family in Pine County begins. Both the Moose Lake Golf Course and the Hambly Family Cabin opened their doors in 1929.
