This charming two-room cottage is a naturalist’s dream—perfectly situated for bird watchers, astronomers, hikers, mountain bikers, and history buffs alike.

Located on 80 acres of private land adjacent to Cave Creek Canyon and the Coronado National Forest, the Apache Cottage offers peaceful seclusion and easy access to some of the Southwest's most breathtaking landscapes.

Cottage Features:
— Comfortably sleeps up to 4 guests with a queen bed in one room and two twin beds in the other
— Fully equipped kitchenette with stove, sink, microwave, small fridge, plus access to a full-size refrigerator nearby
— Wrap-around porch on the north and west sides, plus a private rear patio—perfect for relaxing with a view of our many bird feeders
— Full bath, air conditioning & heat, flat-screen satellite TV, and AM/FM CD player radio
— Patio furniture, BBQ grill (BYO charcoal), and a chimenea with provided firewood for cozy evenings under the stars
— Kitchen essentials provided: utensils, pots and pans, dishes, glassware, toaster, coffee maker, and complimentary coffee & tea

Whether you're sipping coffee on the porch watching hummingbirds, exploring the wonders of Cave Creek Canyon, or stargazing under some of the clearest night skies in the country, Apache Cottage offers a comfortable and unforgettable stay.

— No pets (dogs or cats) allowed
— No same-day bookings accepted
— Two-night minimum stay during high season (March–May)
— No parking on the grass in front of the cottage
— Check-in: 3:00 PM or later | Check-out: 10:00 AM
— Owners live on-site and are available if needed

Bill moved to the Portal area in 1978 and spent years working in the Chiricahua Mountains, including as a fire lookout, before retiring as sheriff of Hidalgo County, NM. He’s now a local historian, birder, and author. Jill is a registered nurse who grew up just down the road in Rodeo, NM, and enjoys connecting with people from all over the world. We love this land and look forward to sharing it with you.
