More Info about the cabin history and reconstruction:
The Almost Heaven cabin was built outside of the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area in the Allegheny Mountains. The logs are of dense American white oak, which was the preferred Lumber due to its strength, durability and size. Utilization of the joint method of construction indicates it was built in 1820's. The cabin was tagged and moved to Center Hill Lake Tennessee.
A new concrete walk out basement was built to the exact specifications of the cabin. The basement is constructed of thick outer layers of rigid insulation and a rebar and concrete inner core. The logs were rebuilt using a specialized cabin restoration company, the same people that dismantled it. The roof is constructed with heavy panels and there are double glazed windows throughout the home.

Very nice cabin with a beautiful view. It is well-equipped since the owners stay there, too. Perks include flashlights, air freshener, binoculars, LP collection/record player, nice towels and a first aid kit. It is pet-friendly with a designated mat for feeding and watering your dog. Our late-May weather was fantastic. Dennis is an excellent host.
Dennis made the process very smooth, especially at check in and check out. Historic property, great views and an excellent way for us to familiarize ourselves with the Center Hill Lake region.
Dennis was great - he thought of everything. We sat on this glorious deck and enjoyed the historic feel of this cabin. It was spotless - even the deck was all clear of old cobwebs and stuff we normally find on cabin rentals. Beds were cozy and comfy. We will definitely be back!
Stunning view, peaceful ambience. Perfect for relaxation and visiting waterfalls. Well stocked, great record collection, delicious grouper at Slighgo Marina.
Every morning I woke up to the most beautiful view. The large window and the deck are the highlights to this beautiful cabin. I will be staying here again next year if available
Absolutely beautiful! Even more amazing than in the pictures! We had a much needed relaxing week. Our dogs loved it too! Dennis was great to work with.

I agree the pics don't do the view justice! My dog hates to leave almost as much as we do. LOL
The view was awesome. The back deck was cozy. Property nicely decorated for Christmas. Owners were friendly and very helpful. You won’t be disappointed if you book this property.
We absolutely loved our stay at the Almost Heaven cabin in Smithville, TN. Dennis was very accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed. We loved the historic feel with the modern touches of home. We highly recommend this property and will come back for another mountain getaway! Thank you Dennis!
This cabin is named Almost Heaven and it really is! The view is breathtaking and the cabin is amazing! Dennis, the owner, was so responsive and attentive to our needs. He went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely be back to this treasure!

Thank you Susan. We look forward to your return. We are always happy when guests enjoy our home as much as we do!
This cabin and property were so relaxing and *gorgeous*. Well stocked and didn’t need for anything. There’s plenty to do in the area but we enjoyed staying put on that awesome deck for our whole stay. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. Dennis was a wonderful host! Highly recommend
We had a great stay at your cabin. Really felt like home. Awesome view. Lots of great hiking opportunities. The pool was super also. Appreciate all the suggestions for music and for being so responsive. We had a abulous family vacation and likely to come back again. Thanks again!!
My family and I stayed here last spring break and loved it so much we made sure to book it again. Dennis is a great host and very communicative. The cabin has a mix of historical touches and modern conveniences. They have even added a new screened in porch for bug-less enjoyment of the outdoors. Its also pet friendly so it worked well for our little dog. The view from the deck is incredible and unlike any place we have stayed before in the Center Hill lake area. There are plenty of things to do in Smithville as well. Definitely a hidden gem and one of our favorite places!
We stayed for a week at Dennis’ property. The view absolutely took my breath away. Dennis called the week before our stay to check in and to see if we had any questions, tell us about the area and offer us suggestions during our stay. He called and texted us a couple more times during our stay making sure we were having a good time and if we needed anything. Our experience at Almost Heaven was amazing. So peaceful and relaxing, my husband and I are looking forward to coming back. Highly recommend.
The property was awesome. Very relaxing and peaceful. The view speaks for itself. Dennis made the check-in and stay very easy and enjoyable. The drive to a variety of restaurants, shops, and parks was very reasonable and manageable. The marina restaurant closed for the season just as we got there. That's the only negative experience of the entire trip. Highly recommend the stay and would certainly enjoy a return trip.
What a beautiful place. Truly almost heaven. Everything was perfect. The view is even more spectacular in person. The attention to details of the design and decor are incredible. We had lots of space to spread out but also spaces to be together. You can’t help but think about all the history and people whom have stepped into this cabin. My only wish is that we could have stayed longer and that it was a little closer to us so we could visit more frequently. Thank you for sharing your home.
Almost Heaven was amazing! The pictures don't do it justice! From the minute you drive up and see the old 1820s cabin sitting nestled in the trees with glimpses of the lake behind it, to the huge picture window overlooking the beautiful back deck and lake views. It was the perfect location for our family to get together for my dads 70th birthday! We really enjoyed early mornings on the back deck drinking coffee, listening to the birds and watching the sunrise!
The cabin inside was very unique! Rustic yet upgraded and easy to be comfortable in. The owner, Dennis, was very accommodating and made sure we were taken care of from booking, check-in and to check-out! We definitely plan to be back!
This place rocks. It was perfect for our stay. I could have spent all day just exploring the cabin and the well curated decor. The decks are fantastic and the view is incredible. The place is larger than it appears in the photos. You can tell Dennis and spouse spend a lot of time here. It is not your cookie-cutter corporate VRBO. I defy you to NOT find what you need in the kitchen. Dennis was a fantastic host. He frequently checked on us (by email/text, not in person) in a good way, not an overbearing way. He was very helpful. Only two negatives, but they are expected negatives since the cabin is from the early 1800s: (1) the floors creak (what do you expect?); and (2) the bathrooms have a step at their entrance, which is a little tricky at night (although night lights are provided). This might not be your best bet if you have mobility issues. We will 100% be staying here again. Hopefully next time in the summer or fall when we can really enjoy the decks. Thanks Dennis!
To say the view is beautiful is quite the understatement. We spent the majority of our time on the deck staring at the view, enjoying the firepit, and watching the hummingbirds. It was incredibly relaxing.
The cabin is rustic and as advertised. The new addition of the screened in porch came in handy on our last evening.
Due to unforeseen circumstances before our arrival, the owner, Dennis, was at the cabin when we arrived and couldn’t have been more gracious. We instantly hit it off with him and was very happy we got to visit with him. Join us for drinks next time!
The kitchen was well stocked with everything you could need and even spices and condiments. The beds were comfortable and we all slept well. The slanted floor in the king room was a surprise but not off putting.
I highly recommend a stay at this cabin. We’re already talking about when we can stay again.
We were pleasantly surprised by how big and beautiful the cabin was. The photos were nice but they don't do it justice. The view was breathtaking! I did not want to leave the cabin for meals because it was so perfect. We got a few groceries and had everything we needed for an amazing and relaxing week. The host was wonderful and we hope to return in the future. Thank you for sharing your little slice of heaven with us! We feel blessed and refreshed!
My family (2 adults; 2 kids) had the best time vacationing at this property! The home is unique with all the modern conveniences (including sufficient WiFi, which can be a challenge in this area). The view over the mountains and water is absolutely incredible - perhaps one of the best we’ve ever seen! Starting and ending the day on the deck was one of the best parts of the vacation.
Lots of options of things to do in the local area - renting boats for the day, swimming in the community pool, hiking, and horseback riding. You’re also a 1.5 hour drive from Nashville.
And, I cannot say enough good thing about the hosts. They are thoughtful and generous and gave us an incredible experience. We can’t wait to go back!
An incredible property with views that go on forever!! Lots to do and super hosts. You won't go wrong here whether you want to sit on the deck and relax or go exploring one of the many state parks in the area! Book soon as it does fill up quickly in the summer!!
We had a wonderful time. Starting our mornings on the beautiful deck with coffee, hiking to amazing waterfalls, boating, fishing, or just exploring during the day, then returning home for a beautiful sunset dinner.

Why they chose this property
This property is just 65 miles from Nashville and has easy access from I-40. This amazing home is like being in another world from the hustle and bustle of Nashville. It is peaceful and allows us to reset our soul every time we spend time there. We have set this space up for comfort and relaxation and would love to share that with you.
What makes this property unique
This is a authentic log cabin built in 1820's with all the modern updates. The view from the Main floor is spectacular with a 15'x5' picture window and huge deck that over looks the lake and mountains. Truly a majestic view that is private and secluded.
