About this property
The Doe Branch Cabin - Modern Mountain Retreat
Sense of Place. That is the inspiration here, at least in part. The cabin is situated on 12 private acres in a remote corner of Madison County, surrounded by national forest, streams, and clear mountain air. The property has a history of artist residents, and we encourage creatives of all types to come seek the inspiration found by those that came before. The town of Marshall, an artistic enclave, is 25-30 minutes away, and downtown Asheville is a 45-50 minute drive. Hiking and rafting nearby.
The space
We aim to provide a comfortable, modern experience in a classic Appalachian Mountain locale. This log cabin has been updated with a new kitchen and bathroom, and the furnishings have been hand picked for style and comfort. The loft bedroom, wrapped in natural wood, features a queen bed and a sitting area from which to absorb the long range view of mountains and forest. There is also a queen size sofa bed in the living room (with foam topper located in closet under stairs for extra comfort). The full bath has a clawfoot tub/shower, and there is an additional outdoor shower with a view during the warm months. The kitchen is fully appointed for cooking.
Guest access
Access provided by a door code given upon booking. Parking available for two vehicles.
Other things to note
The cabin is reached via a 1.5 lane gravel mountain road. While a four wheel drive or all wheel drive vehicle is not necessary (except in snow), many people feel more comfortable with that.
Please be advised that we do occasionally get significant snow in the winter, and this may cause the road to our property to be impassable for several days.
