We do want to clarify that you left on the day of arrival and did not stay at the property. Had you contacted us before leaving, we would have been happy to address any concerns that were within our control right away. Anything reported as dirty has since been thoroughly cleaned. The home is on well water, so mineral levels can naturally be higher at times depending on the water table. The water is treated with a water softener, and we also provide a water dispenser for guests’ convenience. Because the home is located along the river, mice and insects can unfortunately be more common. The “homemade rat traps” are actually pet-safe deterrents, and we also have a professional pest control company that provides regular maintenance to help manage these issues. We also want to clarify that the photo of the “abandoned” house is the neighboring property, which we do not own or control. There are many homes along the road, and while we cannot control neighboring properties, we consider this to be a safe neighborhood in a beautiful setting along the river. The deck is in good condition and was professionally stained two summers ago. We take pride in maintaining the property and providing a clean, comfortable stay. We respect that the property may not have been what you were looking for, but we wish you had given us the opportunity to address your concerns before leaving. We have had many guests thoroughly enjoy their stays, as reflected in our many positive reviews, and we will continue doing our best to provide a great experience for our guests.

We have regular professional pest control service, but unfortunately, peats can be a challenge with a home located directly on the river. We have addressed the concerns you mentioned, including the bedroom doors and the other items noted. The sulfur smell is also a result of the home’s well water, which can vary at times, and we provide drinking water for guests’ convenience. We also have an older charcoal grill as well as a newer gas grill available for guests, so there should be options to accommodate any grilling needs.
