About this property
Mountains, Beach, or Boston Day Trips! Swimming, Foliage, Winter Sports Nearby
Get away from the hustle and bustle at our little cabin in the woods! Our home is cozy but not claustrophobic with a cathedral ceiling in the main living space and a catwalk between the two upstairs bedrooms. The master bedroom (double bed) is on the first floor directly across from the main bathroom which offers support rails by the toilet and in the shower (no tub, though.) Linens and towels are provided. One upstairs bedroom has a half bath adjoining it and a twin size bed with pull-out trundle and a bookshelf full of children's books. The other bedroom has two twin beds, swinging saloon style doors, and a 3/4 wall separating it from the hubbub below. The basement is painted and stocked with toys and games as well as a washer and dryer. The cabin has wi-fi, but why not unplug and enjoy some of the many books from our collection found on bookshelves throughout the house? We do not have a TV, but shows can be streamed through your device or you may use our portable DVD player and DVD collection. The three season porch is all windows, surrounded by green with a glimpse of water at the bottom of the hill. Although our cabin is not on the water, the condo association has a dock about a 5-10 minute walk from the cabin which you are free to use for swimming or fishing. Nearly all of the rooms have ceiling fans, so throw open the windows and let the breeze flow through! We have a small air conditioner unit in the living room, but the cabin temp is usually comfortable with the fans. Parking available for two cars at the cabin (three if small); additional parking is a short walk away at the entrance to the condo property. The cabin is about two hours from Boston, slightly over an hour from the White Mountains (North Conway), and 45 minutes from the beach in Wells--you can enjoy everything from here! Please message me with any questions and note that the decor is a bit of a work in progress but I will try to keep pictures updated! Please note that this is a NON-SMOKING property. Smoking is not allowed anywhere on the Kettle Pond property, including outside, down at the docks, etc., as per the condo association rules. PLEASE NOTE: I do NOT have a security deposit on this property! In an effort to keep the out of pocket cost down for you, I instead have a damage protection policy which is a $99 fee (paid to VRBO, not me) for $5000 of protection. It is a purchase of an insurance policy, NOT a deposit that you will get back. There has been some confusion on this lately and I don't know if VRBO has changed their wording on the guest end or not, so I am just hoping to clarify! Thank you!

Cabin was clean and comfortable. The surroundings were beautiful and peaceful. The pond was great for swimming and canoeing/kayaking. Within driving distance to other great NE lakes, beaches and cities/towns.
Very cool log cabin. Love the openness from bottom floor to upstairs. Had everything we needed! We really enjoyed swimming in Goose Pond, kayaking to Mousam Lake and walking around the area.
Jennie was a great hostess! Thanks for everything!
We very much enjoyed our stay in the cabin. Open concept. Lake was clean and refreshing. We were disappointed that the canoe was not available this time around as we flew here and we were looking forward to using it. Thankfully a relative brought us one. Overall, everything was great!
Comfortable, clean, and charming! The owners provide just about everything you could need outside of food. The location is absolutely beautiful, the pictures don't do it justice, especially the dock. Not much in terms of close by amenities but that was a plus for me, driving through the wooded hills was fun and very relaxing and the distance keeps it quiet, nothing was too terribly far of a drive though so no complaints overall.
We needed a close stay location for our wedding for the men to also get ready. Cozy cabin in a quiet neighborhood!! Very relaxing for us to unwind after rehearsal and wedding! Would definitely stay here again!
There are not enough positive words to describe our stay. Beyond perfect. Above expectations. Fabulous Host. Beautiful cabin. It was spotless, well stocked, quiet. The beds were comfortable and had lots of bedding for the chilly nights. The shower was hot almost immediately and great water pressure. I could go on but won't bore you! Everything was exactly as described and more.
We cannot wait to be back.
This was our second stay at Jennie's beutiful and comfortable cabin! Thank you for making everything so easy. Our children loved jumping off the dock, swimming and riding bikes on the quiet roads.
Quiet area, rather isolated, but not far from Wells and Old Orchard Beaches in ME and Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire, and other points of interest, such as a Shaker Village where the last 2 remaining Shakers live and work. Near Kennebunk, Ogonquit and other tourist areas.
We, four adults and two young children stayed here and had a wonderful time. The cottage was exactly as described in the listing. We enjoyed swimming in the lake, grilling outside and walking the forest trails. Jennie was quick to respond when I had a question and the children’s toys were a big plus.
Wonderful week at this beautiful cabin, host was easy to communicate with and made sure our stay was perfect. Family from Georgia was here visiting and had the best Maine vacation!
We stayed a wonderful week at the Little Cabin in the Maine Woods. Thank you for sharing your cozy and comfortable cabin with us. The children especially loved the books and toys and exploring the outdoors.
Clean, comfortable, quiet! The kids enjoyed all the great books! Well stocked with all the necessities. Lake was a short walk. Would love to stay longer next time. Thank you!
Out stay was so relaxing. The property is beautiful, just as described. Clean and they have tried very hard to make it easy for you. Linens, towels, TP, even emergency toiletries. They have gone out of their way to make this homey and welcoming. You feel as if you are at a friends place rather than a rental. Great value!!! We had six people two adults and four older teens. Plenty of room for everyone. We would definitely rent again.
This was our second time renting this home. Unfortunately it rained the entire time. Despite that, we all still had a great time just staying inside. There were enough things to do to keep all four kids occupied for the entire time. We will definitely be back.
This was a great place to stay as we visited family nearby who were renting right on Mousam Lake. The house was quiet and comfortable, and we liked the conveniences of having a full kitchen, separate bedrooms for everyone, 1.5 bathrooms, and laundry! Loved all of the books and decorative touches as well. Wished we spent more time down at the tranquil docks. All in all, a very nice rental.
We came to the house with 3 adults and 3 kids (5, 4, & 1)! It could not have been better for the kids! They had amazing toys, books, and art supplies - and it kept them constantly busy! They loved the room upstairs with the twin beds and we loved hearing their laughter from downstairs!
The pond was beautiful - refreshing and the walk there was easy. Jennie was extremely responsive and thoughtful - she helped us find a booster seat for my 1 year old. We are already talking about when we can go back!
We had a very quiet and peaceful weekend in a cozy cabin in the woods!

About the host
Hosted by Jennie Bryant
I grew up a literal stone's throw from Shapleigh and we live in this cabin when it isn't rented out. However, we frequently travel for my husband's job, which gives us the opportunity to rent. I work as a writer from home and I homeschool our children. Our goal is to pay off the house early, easing up the earning pressure and getting my husband into a more portable job so that we can spend more time with his family in the south and also show our children more of this incredibly diverse world in the interest of understanding and education.
Why they chose this property
I'm a Mainer--to me, Maine really is the way life should be, so living here is an easy decision! We bought this property both because it is just the right size for our little family and because it was built as a vacation home, giving us hope that we could rent it out! The dock and quiet roads are great for our own kids, and we look forward to sharing that experience with other families. I love how this cabin offers both coziness and closeness with nature. I hope it will be a refuge for tired souls who need an escape, and I look forward to offering that hospitality. Also, having grown up here, I feel like the lodging options for visitors are quite limited. The hotel selection is pretty unimpressive. I'd love to fill that gap and give my local friends and family more options for out of town guests.
What makes this property unique
Our cabin is, to me, the perfect combination of restraint (it's small, but not too small) and drama (see soaring living room ceiling, window encircled porch and glass doors.) I love being here--in our old home, which was cute, cabin fever set in a lot sooner. But somehow I crave spending time here, and I hope our guests will too!
