About this property
Maple Moon Farm ~ Stay at a Historic Maine Farm!
Enjoy a stay in our 1790’s farmhouse with many original features, situated on 120 mostly-wooded acres in southern Maine. Our homestead features a small commercial maple syrup operation including a large sugarhouse, 200 highbush blueberry plants, a large vegetable garden, berry patches, a variety of fruit trees, honeybee hives, miles of old logging roads for walks, skiing/snowshoeing, a meandering brook, patio and outdoor fireplace, free-range chickens and two large farm dogs.
The farmhouse retains many original features including wide plank floors, exposed beams, fireplace (nonoperational) with bake oven in your private living space, and much original woodwork.
Your private living space (first floor) has a pellet stove, bookshelves stocked with reading material and games, a seating area, etc. 2nd floor has two bedrooms and a brand-new kitchen (as of June 2021) with 4 burner electric stove, oven, microwave, refrigerator, toaster, coffee grinder, coffee maker, dishes, posts, pans and utensils. There is also an outdoor propane grill for guests to use and grill tools are provided.
**Please note that a small grassy backyard must be navigated in order to access the guest entrance, and you must climb a non-carpeted staircase (14 steps) to reach the bedrooms and bathroom located on the second floor. If you have limited mobility or are unsteady on your feet, this property is likely not a good fit.
The bedroom is very large and has a queen bed, large closet, dresser, luggage rack, ceiling fan, exposed beams, exposed chimney, and skylight. The private bathroom has wainscoting, a pedestal sink, toilet and shower.
Private entrance with keys. Our living space is completely separate so you have plenty of your own space to relax as you wish.

This was our second visit to Maple Moon Farm. To stay at this beautiful property and step back in time in our farmhouse parlor is fantastic— and learning about making maple syrup with Frank and Jenny was such a treat. We will absolutely come back again!
Frank was very welcoming and friendly. He was there for check-in and walked me around the property. The farm is historic, and he is trying to restore it. During the right seasons, berry picking Is offered. He also makes real maple syrup from the maple trees on the property. There is a
Maple Moon Farm is perfectly historic and you can tell within 5 minutes of meeting him that the owner of the farm, Frank, loves history and loves his property.Check in was easy, and communication with Frank was spectacular. He was responsive to all messages I sent him.The icing on the cake was the tour of the farm and sugar house which turned into a great educational experience. If you like historic buildings and all the quirks that come with them then this is the place stay. Highly recommend!
We had a wonderful 3-week stay at Frank’s Maple Moon Farm in Lebanon, Maine. Frank is a fantastic host—very helpful, kind, and a joy to talk to, especially with his love of history. The house, built in 1790, has a rustic and vintage charm while still being very comfortable and well-kept. Everything was clean and thoughtfully stocked with what we needed in the kitchen and bathroom. The bathroom lighting was bright, the shower had great water pressure and plenty of hot water, and the beds were comfortable with lots of closet and drawer space. It was quiet and dark at night, with just the right amount of night lights for safety. The grounds are beautiful, with trails to explore and gorgeous sunsets to enjoy. As a bonus, Roux’s Farm Store is right next door on weekends, offering fresh local beef, chicken, pork, eggs, milk, maple syrup, honey, homemade bread, and more—it was a real treat.Overall, this was a very fun and comfortable extended stay. We truly enjoyed our time here and will definitely stay again!
What an amazing place. Beautiful fields, cozy rooms, chickens greeting you as you walk out. They had the pellet stove going when we got there so it was so welcoming. Then came over and topped it up the following night, as we have no experience with pellet stoves. It's quiet, and homey. Absolutely recommend visiting. I wish that we could have stayed a week, it was just that lovely.
I can’t recommend Maple Moon Farm and our wonderful hosts highly enough. The stunning historic parlor, the beautiful farm, the walking trails — we loved it all so much we’ve already booked our next visit. Such ab exceptional experience!
Beautiful, peaceful farm with a very cute separate apartment to stay in.
Very well appointed, but small kitchen. Ideal place for just 2-3 adults. Bed was comfortable in the master, loved all the opening window. It's a very lovely farm and the hosts are very pleasant and friendly. We loved the trail system they have put in, easy walking lots to look at. Wild turkeys were a bonus!
Your view is wide open grassy field surrounded by maple tree woods. There are rows of blueberry bushes and raspberries to be picked. (If you enjoy birds you will see plenty of them feasting on the berries including wild turkeys.) The historic farm home is well maintained and reflects the period in which it was built. Accessories reflect the period, providing an historic surrounding. The hosts Jenny and Frank are friendly, flexible, and happy to chat.
This was the perfect quiet retreat during our recent visit for a family funeral. The property retains is old farmhouse charm while also being very comfortable and inviting. Owners greeted us as we arrived, and gave a detailed tour of the inside space and property. It was very cold during our visit, and there were evenings we arrived back after dark. They always had the pellet stove running and lights on so that the space was comfortable and warm when we arrived. They were happy to accommodate any of our requests and very friendly whenever we would pass by coming or going! We will definitely stay again the next time we visit the area!
This is such a great place. It has all the comforts you might need, plenty of space, and is just a cool location. The hosts Frank and Jenny were very nice and accommodating. If I lived closer, I'd be friends with them! Be sure to get the tour of the sugar house where Frank makes his own maple syrup, it's very interesting. I'd definitely stay there again.
The property is amazing and the apartment is a great mix of old and new. We slept comfortably and enjoyed exploring the trails out back. If you like dogs the sweetest ladies will become your friend for the low price of some pets and love. Make sure you ask about the maple syrup barn! Frank is a wealth of information and there is syrup available for sale. I'd definitely recommend this place to friends and go back myself. Enjoy your stay!
Maple Moon Farm was the perfect place for us to stay! Frank & Jenny were gracious & friendly hosts. Having access to their mastiff dogs was also a delight…such sweet, well-behaved girls!! Beautiful property for enjoying a walk & peeking at the gardens. Would go back in a heartbeat!!
Frank and Jen are the consummate hosts. Always responsive, interested and informative about local sites and very pleasant. The setting was a quiet rural view with landscaped open space, berries, fruit, flowers, bird watching and friendly neighbors along Chick Road. The farm is close to Sanford, ME and we became involved in and enjoyed its friendly, welcoming community life.
From the farm we could easily drive out to the surrounding areas enjoying many local activities, fairs, produce stands and even a water-skiing exhibition. Maine has a lot to offer including the Maple Moon Farm life in Lebanon.
We had a great stay at Maple Moon farm! The hosts were inviting and exceptionally helpful, they helped guide us to some local points of interest and even took the time to introduce us to their chickens. Yoga in the gazebo was a great way to start the morning! The guest quarters were comfortable and clean. During our stay I kept thinking of the Maine slogan “The way life should be”. Frank and Jenny are great hosts and their farm is truly a great place to stay!
We stayed at Maple Moon Farm for one night, but wished we had stayed longer. The owner Frank was very informative about surrounding sites, restaurants and things to see on our way home as well. The farm had beautiful flowers, along with blueberry and raspberry bushes to pick your own. We learned a lot about the process of maple syrup and of course had to buy some that was very yummy. The accommodations were clean. The living room is on the first floor. The bedroom/bedrooms are upstairs with a full bathroom. No AC in the living room, but the bedrooms have AC window units which we needed because the weather was so hot the week we visited. Slept great! Hopefully we will be back through that area sometime in the near future so we can enjoy all the things we missed out on.
Our stay at Maple Moon Farm was truly delightful. We were fortunate enough to be there while the owners were processing their sugar maple harvest. Frank and Jenny were very gracious hosts and generous with their time and knowledge. We would love to visit again!
We liked our room, our guided tour, our walk around the farm and our chats with Frank. However the breakfast was underwhelming- there could have been more variety. Overall a nice stay.
SAY NO TO THE CROWDS AT THE BEACH! AAA+++ PROPERTY AAA+++ HOSTS GORGEOUS PLACE! HOMEMADE GRANOLA!
VRBO asks Guests to 'Summarize' their experience when they review a property they've stayed at. I will have a difficult time trying to sum up our stay in just a few words;
The pre-stay communication from the host was comforting, responsive and intelligent. The roads leading to Maple Moon are well-maintained; no pot holes! (My low-slung antique car had no problem navigating those smooth, wide roads).
Our arrival was also smooth as silk... everything was ready for our tired bones. A mini-fridge greeted us, stocked with goodies that you will have to see to believe. - I have traveled the world and THIS was, by FAR, the most gracious, generous, (and HEALTHY), snack offering I've ever received.
The Master Bed is as good as, if not BETTER than most beds at 4-star resorts. The linens were superb, the pillows were dreamy, the skylight allows the STARS to lull you to blissful sleep. The room itself is H U G E! You could grab your partner and waltz to the sounds of the night creatures, (if you open your windows!). The closet space is beyond impressive... room for ANYONE'S traveling wardrobe!
The bathroom is right out of a magazine, complete with a massive, (decorative), ancient copper bathtub! The Hosts may choose to plumb it one day, but for now it is just super-fun to be in the presence of it.
The shower water pressure was more than sufficient for my waist-long hair... that is a very important feature for me. (Can't stand having to rinse my hair in a weak shower-head stream... takes too long(!)
The Hosts are nearby but SO conscientious about the Guest's privacy! I missed by dogs back home in NC and NEEDED a 'Dog Fix'. The Host obliged by allowing me some 'play-time' with their two gorgeous rescue dogs... whom you would NEVER even know were resident at the property, unless you actively seek them out as I did. I'll let you be surprised by what they look like and won't give you any more details about them, except to say that you will want to take them HOME with you(!)
The property itself is spectacular, lush, verdant and breathtaking; go on a hike, go lie in a meadow, pick berries if the Hosts say it's the right time of year... but by all means... at least take a walk around the house.
We met our friends in Kennebunk, Ogunquit & Wells & dined out there... happily returning to the serenity Maple Moon each night. - Enjoy & book with confidence!
