About Songbird Story Farmhouse and Garden Tower
The Farmhouse
Escape to the country and experience Songbird Story Farmhouse and Garden Tower. Constructed during the height of World War II when building supplies were scarce, this 1940’s era authentic farmhouse is built from sawmill grade timber. With authentic vintage pieces on display – including a Hoosier cabinet with flour bin, wringer-style washing machine, foot-pedal sewing machine and rotary-dial telephone – time spent at Songbird Story is like visiting grandmother’s house. Prints of early Americana life, an upright piano, coal stove, cedar trunk, dry ice box, vintage dressing table, retro television, and cedar slabs taken from Paint Rock Valley take guests back to farm life of nearly a century ago while making for interesting conversation pieces. Original stonework and pine tongue-in-groove lumber taken from a late 1800’s/early 1900’s community barn are authentic. Using old photographs as a guide, rooms are painted in vintage colors of the era. Guests experience the colors, sights, and sounds of life from the 1940’s and 1950’s.
Enjoy complimentary glass bottled RC Cola and Moon Pies in this authentic farmhouse now owned by the third generation of the family who first made it their home. View old family photos of the farm.
The farmhouse is a single level home and contains central air conditioning and heating along with a natural gas fireplace. One gig of reliable high-speed internet and Wi-Fi is accessible throughout the farmhouse and gazebo/tower area.
LIVING ROOM, DINING ROOM, and KITCHEN

Have breakfast for two at the cozy table windows with scenic farm views.
The full kitchen contains an authentic Hoosier cabinet with flour bin and sifter. Guests may drive the golf cart, ride bicycles, or walk the trail to the private farm pond. Cattle and donkeys are in the pond pasture at various times of the year. We recommend fishing for pleasure, but you may eat your catch if you choose. Feeding the fish is always fun for the kids (and adults)! Bring your fishing pole and tackle box and try to catch the big one! (Only licensed drivers may drive the golf cart. Children should be accompanied by an adult near the pond.)
Outdoor amenities in the two-acre yard include table, chairs and dining under the gazebo, fire pit, BBQ grill and utensils, Adirondack chairs, rocking chairs, ceiling fans, authentic upright piano, strand lights and twinkling lights. The clear view of the night sky, moon and stars, along with the twinkling waterfall lights that adorn the underneath portion of the tower, and the stately light strands that line the top rail provide a romantic escape. (Guard rails are present, but young children should be accompanied by an adult.)
The summer garden boasts a variety of flowers available for guests to enjoy. Sunflowers and zinnias fill the garden which the butterflies enjoy! Moonflowers and morning glory vines climb the tower and offer fragrant blooms both day and evening.

Songbirds oft spotted include the bluebird, mockingbird, blue jay, robin, wren, and cardinal, among others. Additionally, the yellowhammer is a frequent guest while wild geese, cranes, crows, and the American Eagle have been spotted.
