Wonderful stay. Larry was amazing, the property even better. Lovely lodging and a fireplace with views of ocean and cascades. Fun kayaking and easy access to Eastsound and all Orcas has to offer.

We stayed here with 5 people for my son's wedding on the island. Everything was perfect. Plenty of room for everybody with the bedrooms spread out and privacy doors separating living areas and bedrooms. Beautiful views over the water from the spacious porch and living area with fireplace. Quiet and peaceful. Very clean, well appointed and equipped with everything we needed. Conveniently located just a few miles from town for shopping, dining, etc. Larry was an excellent host. Would definitely stay here again. Thanks!

Buckhorn lodge

On a lovely cove with easy pebble beach access, an exceptionally relaxing location with a perfect covered porch. Perfectly located within a quick drive to the grocery stores, bookstores and retailers in Eastsound.

Amazing spot!

We had a wonderful time at the Lodge! The views are incredible! The house was exactly as listed with lots of amenities. Larry was easy to communicate with and very helpful. The location was perfect, quiet and private but also close to town. Highly recommend this for a relaxing vacation!

Beautiful house, beautiful scenery

This is one of those places where the house was so nice that we didn’t feel the need to do other stuff…! Most of the time we just enjoyed relaxing while looking out at the water. We even spotted a lip,e of orcas, which we understand is not that common!

Beautiful property right on the water with stunning views. Great back deck and hot tub for relaxing outside. Plenty of space with the multiple bedrooms and living areas. Large well stocked kitchen that we enjoyed cooking in each day. Loved the amenities, like kayaks, fire pit, and yoga mats. Everything on and in the property was amazing. The driveway is narrow and there are neighbors very closeby. Owner communicated well and was quick to fix an issue that arose.

Relaxing and quiet

We wanted to be next to the ocean and we were very happy sitting on the deck with coffee. We had plenty of room for four of us after our daughter and granddaughter joined us for one night. We didn’t get to see any orcas but the morning and evening skies were wonderful. Larry responded quickly to any questions that we had. Thank you for the lovely stay.

This is about as perfect as it gets. The location is spectacular (if anything the pictures undersell the view), we spent hours upon hours just soaking in the view as we watched sea lions, dolphins, loons, and eagles from the backyard and porch. The house is a lovely mixture of old school cabin with a ton of character, and a nice modern upstairs. We found all the amenities we could want and had no issues with how clean it was. One thing that is important to us as both my wife and I are self-employed is it actually has a dedicated workspace that is private! My wife could have meetings with her patients upstairs and none of us could hear anything in the rest of the house. The new bath is incredibly luxurious and the main bedroom is lovely. Being able to walk along the beach right from the back yard is special, although if I had to nitpick the stairs down while not overgrown were a little sketchy for my 78 year old dad (my 75 year old mom had no issues though). Town is super close but you still have privacy, the internet was fast enough for virtual meetings, there is a solid coffee setup and Larry was very communicative and easy to work with. We have already shared the listing with friends so we can plan our next stay.

The owners are very nice. I know the amenities weigh into the high price point of this vrbo. But with such a high price point, the amenities should be VERY good. The row boat is missing the pins that hold the oars in place (and they were missing last year we were came too). This makes rowing the boat almost impossible. The hammock was broken before we arrived. The steps leading down to the beach are very overgrown. Both times we visited, it just left us very disappointed considering how much we paid for this trip. .

Unique stay with easy beach access

Consider yourself lucky to stay at this place! Great location: not too far from town/ferry; located on an accessible beach to explore. We stayed for 4 nights, and it was perfect for our short trip. The host was very accommodating & helpful for us first-time visitors to Orcas Island. We are so appreciative of the Instruction Manual provided: ***Do read before! its very informative & will enhance your visit!** House was clean & ready for us. Lots of utensils/pots/pans for cooking/preparing food in the kitchen. Thank you for providing dish soap & paper towels so we could clean up after ourselves! All equipment, firewood, towels, outdoor equipment, whatever that was mentioned in the manual or pictured in the listing was there. Spectacular! Hot tub was clean & ready for use, easy to open close (first time home hot tub user). Kayaks easy to unlock/lock up. (first time kayaker). All communications with host was easy, prompt, clear, and professional. Thanks Larry, Michelle, Jordan & cleaning crew for hosting us! We hope to visit again one day.

Rustic Waterfront

We just came back from a week stay at this property and overall it was a great rental. The location absolutely can't be beat. Nothing better than waking up to the sunrise over the water and watching all kinds of wildlife from the porch. The owners also provided a lot of fun recreational options - kayaks, bikes, ping pong etc which was nice. There was a fire ban in progress so we couldn't use the fire pit outside but that couldn't be helped. In terms of the house itself things were a little more rustic than I thought they would be. There was a fireplace in the main living area that didn't work and I was under the impression that it had an insert that I assumed would look like a fire but it ended up just a little dinky electric plug in log set that just glowed. Also, the decor felt a bit dated and needs to be freshened up a bit. Towels, sheets, blankets felt old and a little musty. Plus, it's a bit of a pet peeve of mine, but in a vacation rental you don't want to be staring at family photos on the walls. It made me a bit uncomfortable like I was crashing in a strangers house. Again, location can't be beat and that's really what we were there for. Orcas is definitely the best of the San Juans in my opinion and we would go back in a heartbeat.

What a lovely place. Historic cabin with an urban/updated half of the house where anyone could pick where they’d like to sleep depending on their preference. The kayaks were an added plus because we spent ours in the ocean, fishing, and making great memories. Orcas island is great and has so much to explore, but it was hard for us to leave the house because we had everything we needed or wanted there. If you visit Orcas Island, I’d highly recommend staying here.

Beautiful and Relaxing

We had a wonderful time. The property is gorgeous and you can't beat the view. Spent time kayaking down the coast and cooking at the house after a day spent out exploring. It was a little chilly in the evenings so we used the fireplace quite a bit. Very easy to use and made for many cozy evenings. This place has lots to take advantage of! Wish we could have stayed longer!

Fantastic Honeymoon House

We spent the last leg of our San Juan Island Honeymoon here and it was just perfect. Very comfortable house with amazing views and outdoor seating. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house is so close to town for eating and shopping. Also close to hiking at Moran State Park. We swam in lakes and in the ocean. Took advantage of the hot tub and playing games. While the house would comfortably fit 4 more folks, it is perfect for couples. The hosts were very easy to work with. While you’ll find many rules and the need to sign a contract, it makes sense to keep the peace with the residents. Truly magical space!

Simply magical!

Larry and Michelle are such gracious hosts (and also very fun conversationalists)! The place is pure magic, with an interesting history and stellar views. We saw loads of wildlife, including a curious mink! We were a group of family and friends and had an absolute blast on the kayaks and sitting outside enjoying the super-relaxed vibe. This was our second stay here and we are already planning/hoping for a third! By far our best VRBO experience ever. Thanks, Larry and Michelle!

We loved Buckhorn Lodge! It was perfect for our family of five and would have fit more people if needed. Being right on the Sound was wonderful as we watched the seals and porpoises play every day! Kelly
