You'll find a full elevated kitchen, with an original stained-glass window and an island fashioned from former church furnishings. The kitchen includes a range, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, beverage fridge, coffee maker, electric kettle, immersion blender, and French press.

The large open-concept former sanctuary includes a dining table for 8, 2 skylights, ceiling fans, a leather couch, 2 recliners and additional comfy seating for the whole family.

Two beautiful full bathrooms and 2 powder rooms.

A total of 3 Roku TVs for your favorite streaming apps plus some live TV options. Games and books are available for rainy or chilly days when you're stuck inside.

On warmer days, enjoy the covered back deck where you can relax and watch the deer in the woods (fan included). Just off the parking lot, there's also a propane griddle for outdoor cooking, and a firepit for making S'mores.

There's free off-street parking in back of the building.

The home was great. The owners did a fantastic job of maintaining the historical character while adding fantastic modern amenities. Plus, the communications with the owners were seamless, making the arrival, stay, and departure as easy as could be.

Amazing home! High-end bathroom features, stocked kitchen, very comfortable beds, super cool basement cellar—truly a unique experience with personal touches throughout! Host was very responsive as well. Only thing that I would add is an additional safety measure at historic front door.

Very well-appointed property, nicely decorated and comfortable for the five of us. The historic aspect of the building was interesting and the renovation was thoughtful and respectful of the space. The walk into town wasn't bad for us younger folk, but a bit much for our elder parents...they made it down the hill ok, but we had to drive down for a pick up at the end of the day! Parking is VERY limited in town so having the option to walk from the house was a big plus. Also convenient walking distance to a few places in Bolivar. The step up into the kitchen could be awkward for anyone with mobility issues, but otherwise we thought this place was perfect.

About the host

Christian and Lynn live just around the corner from this property. We've been here since 2017 and absolutely love living in Harpers Ferry. It's beautiful little village brimming with history! We've been hosting a B&B over at our house for nearly 9 years and have loved the hospitality business. Welcoming guests to St. John's is a newer venture.

Why they chose this property

This section of the Harpers Ferry residential Historic District is a bit further off the beaten path, so it's quieter than the old Lower Town area by the rivers and the busy train tracks. It's also close to some of the better restaurants and cafes in town.

What makes this property unique

St. John's was a historic church that closed in late 2023. We love preserving history, so we bought the building and converted it into a home. Our goal was a modern and beautiful dwelling that honored the building's past. It was hard work designing rooms to work well within the available space, but now we're thrilled with the way it turned out. It's a rare listing in the Harpers Ferry Historic District that has a sitting area large enough to accommodate groups of up to 8 guests.
