Peaceful Solitude
Great location for privacy and proximity to nature, yet close enough to other Tucson sites. Nice size for an couple, enjoyed cooking in the Casita and relaxing in the jacuzzi.
We absolutely loved this casita! It's roomy, comfortable, and well appointed. We loved being close to the city and its amenities, yet in such a peaceful and beautiful location, right near the border of Saguaro National Park. Ending the day with a hot soak in the jacuzzi beneath the winter stars was the cherry on top. Hope to return for another visit!

True Desert Gem
We loved the Casita and the property! I'm a host myself in New Mexico and the house was very clean and decorated nicely. If you cherish privacy and quiet, this is the place. Loved the quail visits. The hot tub was great - the icing on the cake, especially after a long, beautiful hike in the Sagauro National Park, which is super close by.

LaRoca
We enjoyed our stay at LaRoca. The casita was clean and attractively decorated and Jim and Yoyo were very responsive and helpful. The setting is lovely and we were lucky to have quiet neighbors next door. Thank you for providing a pleasant and peaceful place out of the bustle of town.
This beautiful home sits on an amazing piece of property! It’s like being in a botanical garden. Serene and comfortable with up to date appliances and decor. I was absolutely blown away by the scenery! Sitting right in the middle of hundreds of saguaro cactus. Working fireplaces with supplied wood made for very cozy evenings!
I’ll definitely stay here again!
If you are looking for a cozy spot away from the hustle - this is it.
We sat out every night and watch the sun gone down behind the butte. Just a lovely spot to relax and unwind.
Note: if you need a place to work - there is no desk per se and the lighting is a bit challenging. But otherwise - this place is great.
This was a classic casita in a lovely, quiet desert setting. It was well-appointed with all the necessary amenities. Our only complaint was the bed. The mattress was swayed in the center despite the foam pad on top, and because of its small size (a standard double), we kept squashing into each other throughout the night. That left us with some back pain in the morning. And there were no night stands on which to set our books and alarm clock. I suggest you move out the chest on the right side of the bed and put in a queen bed with night stands on either side. That would make for a perfect bedroom to match the rest of the house!
We'd also like to thank Jim fopr his kindness and attention.

Location great. Property no great.
We loved the setting. Just about 10 minutes out into the desert with nature all around, and yet relatively close to town.
What we didn't love so much is the lack of basic cooking supplies and the neglected condition of the property.
Altogether we were satisfied because the pros outweighed are cons... but it could definitely have been better.
Beautiful, just beautiful. Just what we were looking for in our trip to Tucson. Watched lot’s of wildlife in the mornings and my husband actually had a hummingbird come right up to his face! Everything was spotless and comfortable. Thank you Jim for a great stay.
My husband and I very much enjoyed our stay at La Roca. We loved the Southwest style of the casita, especially the fireplaces in the living room and bedroom. In the evenings when temperatures dipped into the thirties, it was great to light a fire in the fireplace, curl up on the sofa with a glass of wine, and watch Netflix. My husband and I currently live in the city, but we grew up in the country. My husband kept remarking on the quiet here and how much he liked it. Even though we were only a few minutes away from Tucson, it felt like we were nestled in a remote canyon. The casita is a minute's drive from El Camino de Cerro trailhead into Saguaro National Park and a two minute's drive from Sweetwater Preserve. My husband and I went hiking every morning, alternating between the two locations. Both places offer spectacular views and lots of statuesque saguaros. The kitchen has newer, full-size appliances, making meal prep a breeze. It's also the only place I've ever stayed that had an unscratched nonstick pan. We grilled steaks and pork chops on the outside grill. Inside we roasted chicken, sautéed scallops, and fried and scrambled eggs. The only drawback was the sagging mattress, which meant nights of fitful sleep. The sagging mattress is the reason for the 4-star rating. Otherwise it was 5-star all the way.
My sister and I came to celebrate our 40th birthday together as we were twins. The Kaseeta is located and other beauty and the Sonoran desert. We truly enjoyed our stay here as the home was cozy and had most things we needed. The only suggestion would be to put in a bigger bed in the bedroom so I can fit one and install an outdoor light and switch by the hot tub.
This is a great and picturesque location. La Roca is lovely, clean, comfortable and a well appointed home with great artwork and outdoor landscaping. The majestic saguaro by the front door is fantastic, and has to be at very least over 100 years old. I am so thankful to the builders that they preserved it considering the close proximity to the building. Jim was accessible and quickly responsive by phone, and he gave us good instructions. The full kitchen was great for meal prep. Views in every direction took in Saguaros and desert life. Bunnies and quail visited each morning and evening.
There is a casita directly adjacent (joined by the patio) to La Roca. This was empty our first four nights, which allowed us to enjoy the privacy of using the (shared) clean & hot hot tub and gaze at the incredible night sky. The Wifi worked with only a couple of weak hours. Netflix and Amazon Prime available and worked well on the Smart TV. Definitely a great place! Covered parking too. La Roca is only a couple of miles from Sweetwater Preserve for hiking and mountain biking, and of course very close to the west side Saguaro National Park. Very little to improve upon. Perhaps the pillows weren't what we particularly liked, and seemed a bit hard and lumpy. We actually ended up grabbing some inexpensive pillows and cases at Walmart.
Watch the price over time; we got a great price for our stay but noticed the price float up for subsequent periods. Overall we would highly recommend La Roca for a unique, quiet, beautiful and spiritual surrounding.
This was our second time - since the beginning of COVID lockdown - to leave town for a few days. Quiet, pleasant abode - multiple spots on the property to hide in a shady spot to read - or sip a glass of wine at sunset. We took a few enjoyable hikes in the Saguaro National Park. We ate in for every meal. The kitchen lacked a few items I would have liked - e.g. sharp knives. And the bed was not the most comfortable. But I certainly hope to return someday!
Stylish Casitas on the Edge of Saguaro National Park
This spacious property has several Casitas on a large property with loads of desert vegitation and beautiful cactus. The Casitas are spaced well apart, but two--La Roca and L'esperanza--are close together and we took them both as they both share a scenic patio and hot tub. The location seems remote and rugged, but is only a short drive from downtown Tucson. Saguaro cactus line the road to the property, which itself boasts many saguaros. So many cacti that we passed on visiting the National Park closeby. The Casitas themselves are well decorated and functional, and met all our needs and the views of nature from each window are dazzling. We also really enjoyed the fireplace in the living room and bedroom. Netflix was a special bonus. Another bonus was the wild life. We saw coyote and rabbits (and thankfully no scorpions or tarantulas, though we were warned), but fell in love with the quail. We spread some corn and birdseed outside our bedroom window, and a flock scampered to feed while conversing with each other. We had a really great time here.
This is a great location, close to the heart of Tucson but with a feeling of seclusion. The owner was available but not intrusive and the unit itself was as advertised. Regrettably, we had to cut our visit short owing to the pandemic but we hope to visit again soon. I would recommend this property to anyone wanting to visit the Tucson area and you can rest assured that the property is as advertised.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in La Roca. It was lovely to be able to be so close to nature. We spent our evenings on the front terrace watching and listening to the sights and sounds of the desert. The hosts were wonderful to work with and we highly recommend this property. We'll be back!
