This incredible condo includes a wonderful rooftop terrace. Our host, Greg, was extremely accommodating and made our stay seamless. The location was perfect with many wonderful restaurants and shops nearby.
The property is huge and charming. There's a/c in almost every room so it provides relief from the heat. It's close enough to the center of Zona Colonial where we just walked everywhere. When we wanted to explore further out, getting Ubers weren't a problem.
The only issue I have is that the property is located near a major street so the honking and traffic noise does tend to wake you up early in the mornings. If you're a morning person, then not really an issue. Otherwise, great stay and Carolina who checked us in was lovely.
The house was beautiful! Very clean and spacious. I stayed with my husband, toddler and mother in law and we were all very comfortable. The rooftop has amazing views and a nice jacuzzi. I definitely recommend staying at this house, and plan on staying there again when I visit in the future! You will be close to the historic area and many restaurants within walking distance. The area is very safe to walk in. Carolina who takes care of the house was great and available if we needed her. And our house was very responsive!!
Wonderful authentic apartment in historic but living neighborhood
I have been looking at this property since 2019 but I finally had a chance to stay there last week (Jan 2025) and I'm so glad that I did. It exceeded all of my expectations. On prior visits to Santo Domingo I'd stayed at business hotels in Piantini, but they lacked what I was looking for and what I found here: that being an open air rooftop where I could feel and smell the air, two lovely balcony's and the feeling of being part of a real historic neighborhood.Greg and Carolina could not have been more accommodating hosts; they made this process easy and answered my endless questions. The apartment is spacious, clean, with real natural wood, good appliances, great bedding and perhaps more importantly, at least for me, is this feeling that you really are a resident of (if only for a moment) the oldest settlement in the Western Hemisphere. This apartment is perfectly located in the Zona Colonial just a few blocks from everything you would want to see and do and just enough distance back such that I never found outdoor noise to be bothersome at night. It is one block from the Caribbean Sea so the view from the rooftop is lovely. I knew the "Zona" would be charming with historic sights, restaurants, bars, etc, but I was surprised by the variety of stores, including more than adequate grocery stores (and a surprisingly large hardware store) all within an easy and pleasant walk in that historic district.I cannot wait to return. Many thanks Greg and Carolina.
In all the dozen stays in the Colonial Zone, this may be the best. To drink the tap water, was nice. The view from the roof top, is great. Will return to this apartment, I hope soon.
Interesting and unusual perceptions. Something I've never experienced before. This is an old house, probably a a few hundred years old. So perfect place to dive in and feel the Colonial district. Most attractions are walking distance. The bath tube is cold so do not expect whirlpooling. Checking was slightly cumbersome, need to be able to call host from downstairs. So she come and take you upstairs. Rooftop is super great with excellent views not only to sea but also to neighborhood lifestyles. Hard to access if one has mobility issues. With two bedrooms this is a large place too. Internet speed was great all over the house. Overall, would stay there again.
If you have a chance to book this place don’t hesitate one minute. There is nothing better! It’s an old colonial building with 12 and 14 foot ceilings and exposed brick that has been fully renovated and modernized. There are three very nicely decorated bedrooms, two stone and wood bathrooms with dressing rooms, a living room, dining room and modern kitchen on the main floor which is one story above the street level. The rooftop deck with its panoramic sea view (and a third full bathroom) and Jacuzzi (not hot) is totally private and clothes can be optional. Having spent our lives traveling we aren’t impressed with much anymore but this place is outstanding! We will now book our trips to the DR around its availability. Don’t pass it up!
This truly is as advertised a luxury experience. I stayed recently as a solo woman and always felt comfortable and safe in this fantastic property which is located on a typically quiet and safe street. The local support that the owner has sourced for the check in process was fantastic, everything was fresh and clean upon arrival and this property has everything you could need for your stay - even a small jar of coffee so you’re ready to enjoy your first morning on your rooftop patio before strolling out for groceries or to one of the many renowned cafes or restaurants nearby. Whether you want to experience Santo Domingo hitting local ”secret” spots or tourist hotspots everything is within walking distance.
The outdoor space and open air concept that can be achieved by opening the many windows really take this property to the next level.
I almost didn’t write this review because I don’t want the property to be unavailable to me the next time I return! I will definitely be back! Great experience all around!

Great pad in Ciudad Colonial
I recently stayed at this property along w/ my wife and kid. We thoroughly enjoyed staying there. The place a conveniently located + Greg and his team are on top of their game when it comes to addressing any issues that may come up. On the outside, the place is a colonial era house, and while inside it also has the colonial charm, it also has modern tech, with fast internet around the house (I measured it @ 40mbps), air conditioning, energy backup and a sweet rooftop terrace. We thoroughly enjoyed staying there, and will certainly return down the line.

Very special house in Zona Colonial
Greg’s place is really, really special. Location is super central, on a pretty street right in the Zona Colonial. It was a 5 - 10 minute walk to most places we wanted to go. The house is beautifully and comfortably furnished with everything you need on your stay. We appreciated thoughtful touches like filtered water (essential), a rooftop bar and A/C in all rooms. The roof is sunny and private with a spectacular view. And service was also terrific - Greg responded to messages immediately and even arranged for a very late check-in when we arrived. Overall, this was a great experience. I highly recommend to other guests!

Fantastic location with modern world luxury and charm!
If you want to discover Santo Domingo for a few days, this is the place you want to stay. It has everything you need and plenty that you want, too. Attention has been given to details throughout and the colonial zone is just outside the front door (the most secure area for tourists to visit on their own). Shopping service is also offered, so we had everything we needed upon our arrival. Highly recommend this place, Greg (the owner) and Carolina (the manager). ¡Muchas gracias a ustedes!

Great location
My buddy and I loved this place. The location is near several great restaurants and is not far from the historic sites of the city.
The only negative was that the wifi would periodically go out but the owner was quick to resolve the issue. The owner was very helpful and communicative as well. We would definitely return and stay at this location.

Why they chose this property
The Colonial Zone is amazing. You'll find a mix of tourism with locals who have lived their entire lives in the area. You can get anywhere by foot and/or an Uber/taxi (use referral code ubergregmudd if you are new to Uber). Thanks to modern technology, you'll have access to a US-based phone and a few speed-dials to help with any questions/concerns you may have.
On our street specifically, you'll mainly find local families, less tourists (what we ourselves prefer), and a low noise level. The neighbors are welcoming but for the most part don't speak English... a great chance to brush up on your Spanish.
What makes this property unique
Our house is conveniently located within the Colonial Zone of the city Santo Domingo and is situated on one of the rarely quiet blocks. It's just a few minutes walk from all of the wonderful restaurants and shops, and is just 1 block from the ocean.
