Centrally Located 2-bedroom, 1-bath Cottage with Mountain Views & Private Deck

Inasmuch as we want to deal with this situation privately with Vrbo—and with law enforcement being involved in this case—we strongly feel the need to respond to give light on what truly happened, and protect our small business from individuals like this who take advantage by posting untruthful reviews and aim to destroy our hard-earned livelihood. Our ultimate goal is for our guests to have an excellent stay. Thus, we always strive to go above and beyond, but we are also mindful of our safety. For the safety of both hosts and travelers: These individuals failed to establish trustworthiness during their stay when credible witnesses denied the claims they told us, including the statements they made in this review. They also entered the cottage before check-in time, and were observed to be visibly agitated. Those who stayed before and after these individuals did not report “an ant problem”, and we went out of our way to help each and every one of them as it could be assessed that it was safe to do so, which was not the case with these individuals who wrote this review. Communication from these individuals was often delayed by responding to us approximately 2 hours after we sent our message regarding the new sheets that they asked for. Given the delay in communication and how agitated they were, they still demanded for us to enter the cottage and change the sheets during the night. They also acknowledged that they received the new sheets more than 3 hours after we informed them that it had been dropped off. They proactively asked for $88 refund. We gave them $100 refund as a gesture of goodwill immediately after they checked out, which was before we became aware that the code to the mechanical lockbox was changed, and some of our mails had been removed from the mailbox and moved inside the cottage. As a result, the cottage could not be accessed until desperate measures were attempted. We spent hundreds of dollars to replace locks and secure the property. Law enforcement understands how easy it is to change the code on the lockbox and pass on that knowledge to anyone. Local police arrived at the property after they checked out. It was unfortunate that we had to deal with this situation as we ensure the security of our personal information.
