Well equipped apartment on the ground floor of our own villa on the edge of the pretty village of Sorede, in the foothills of the Albere Mountains. Within easy walking distance to all the village amenities including shops, bars/cafés, restaurants and yet only 15 minutes from the beach.
The property is equipped to a high standard and consists of large lounge/dining room, with two sofa’s, dining table and chairs. French windows opening on to partly covered patio.
Double bedroom, shower room, separate WC.
Well equipped kitchen, including oven, hob, fridge/freezer and microwave.
Washing machine facilities available. TV / French channels, CNBC & Sky news. (UK, TV channels are currently not available in this part of France.) DVD, CD and video. Wi-fi available.
Attractive mature garden, terraces offering both sunny and shaded areas. Garden furniture, barbecue, parking for three cars. Bed linen and house towels provided.

Marvellous holidays

The apartment was very clean, spacious, equipped with everything you need for a comfortable holiday. The hostess is very friendly and warmly, helpful and generous. The location of the apartment is excellent: in a few minutes you are at the sea, the Pyrenees are also not far and in the area there is much to explore. All in all it was a wonderful holiday. We can recommend this apartment with confidence.

Brilliant

Just back from 4 weeks at this super apartment. Nothing was too much trouble for Gill the lovely host. The apartment itself was very clean and comfortable. The shower was great, bed comfortable, all gadgets easy to use. Lots of seating areas in the garden which allows for relaxing in either sun or shade. We enjoy walking and found Sorede to be a great location having a choice of both high and low level hikes from the door. Sorede has two very good restaurants both within a ten minute walk. There is also a bakery and a couple of bars. Would definately recommend.

Wir hatten mit unseren zwei Kindern (3 und 6 Jahre alt) eine sehr schöne Zeit in Sorede! In der Umgebung gibt es so viel zu entdecken: Strände, Häfen, Gässchen, Bergbäche, Wanderpfade, Schildkröten, Berge, Schluchten, Städte... Gillian ist eine sehr herzliche, aufmerksame und unkomplizierte Gastgeberin und ihre Ferienwohnung ist ein guter Ausgangspunkt, um Okzitanien zu erkunden. Die Wohnung ist sauber und gemütlich. Wir haben besonders den Blick auf die angrenzenden Berge genossen, den man von der Terrasse aus hat.

Super logement

Nous avons passés un agréable séjour chez Gillian. Propriétaire discrète et très avenante. La maison est très bien située, proche des axes routiers et à 10 mn des plages D'Argelès sur Mer. La maison est également confortable et parfaitement équipée, ce qui permet notamment d'alléger les valises en n'emportant ni draps ni serviettes. Elle dispose d'un bel espace extérieur et d'un parking dans la cour. Une machine à laver est à disposition ainsi que tous les produits ménagers et le nécessaire pour faire les repas, ce qui est également un grand plus. Another bril holiday based here. 4 weeks just flies by. Bit of variation this year, more sea fishing and long cycle rides. So many places to go, or just chill in the flat, the choice is yours.

A lovely place to stay

We've just returned from a very enjoyable week based in this lovely apartment. It's very clean, very well appointed,very comfortable and very well positioned in the quiet village of Sorede. Our trips to the beaches and mountains were easily made and, when we felt lazy, the beautiful garden which surrounds the villa gave us lots of choice of seating in sun or in shade.it was great to ge able to eat our meals outside on the patio. Breakfast looking at The Alberes and Mount Canigou is a great way to start the day! Gill, the owner,made us feel welcome and at home and gave us good advice on local attractions when we needed it without being at all intrusive. This apartment is in a beautiful part of France and,,though we're well-travelled, we think the location and scenery is hard to beat anywhere in Europe. We would thoroughly recommend staying in this apartment to anybody looking for a great holiday in this scenic part of France. The apartment fully deserves the 5-star rating that we've given it. We certainly intend to return to it sometime soon.

Ein perfekter Aufenthalt!

Eine geschmackvoll eingerichtete und gut ausgestattete Wohnung, ein liebevoll gestalteter Garten dazu und eine entspannte, aufmerksame Vermieterin. Dies alles garantiert einen gelungenen Aufenthalt. Der Ortskern ist fußläufig erreichbar, das Haus ruhig gelegen. Alles in allem uneingeschränkt empfehlenswert!

We love it here

This property is first rate and has the advantage of being set in a beautifully designed garden with numerous seating areas. Chase the shade around the house as the sun moves round. The interior has pretty well everything you could ask for. We are a couple and we found plenty of room inside and out. The standard of decor is excellent and the tv has a device attached that lets you watch British tv if you so wish. Or you can watch French tv channels and see how your French holds up! Another excellent feature is that you are within walking distance of a variety of eating places covering a wide range of food and prices. The owner of this property, will guide you through the highlights of the area with pleasure without being intrusive. "We love it here," was an often used phrase on our recent visit.

This flat as usual offers all that we could ask for. Location is ideal for the local area without being in the really busy resort. After over 10 years staying here we have booked again for next year, and 2016 too! This is probably one the best little apartments around for a couple.

Perfect place to relax

We look forward so much to our holiday iin Sorede with Gill every year, sometimes twice a year. Gill is the perfect host and will advise you on places to visit and eat in the vicinity. Sorede is a perfect location for exploring the area either on foot or by car. There's so much to see and do we always find something new every year.l fully recommend this property, perfect for couples.

As good as a second home

Over many years of staying in this apartment, my wife and I have come to regard this as good as a second home. Gill is the consumate host and the apartment is always clean and tidy when we arrive. The facilities are excellent and the garden (all Gill's own work) has been developed and has matured over the years and is now complete. All the nearby restaurants that we have tried have been excellent, each in its own way.We highly recommend this property to all who read this review.

All you could wish for.

We found the apartment exactly as described. Extremely comfortable, well appointed and a beautiful garden. Everything on hand to ensure a very relaxing holiday. The location is ideal - within easy walking distance of the village with bars, restaurants, boulangerie, etc., yet only a 15 minute drive to the coast with some wonderful beaches. Gill, the owner, was extremely helpful but not at all intrusive. We would highly recommend this property and hope to stay again.

Lovely apartment . Beautiful village !

We fell in love with Sorede a number of years ago . A beautiful small town in the foothills of the Albérès. We are beach lovers so the apartment is ideally suited for one of our favourite beaches in Europe , Le Racou which is a fifteen minute drive away. There is no more a perfect , relaxing break than a day on the beach followed by a laid back evening sitting in the town square enjoying the local Vin de pays. In the peak months there is often live music and every Thursday a traditional Sardana. The town is served by a small market every Friday but the local boulangerie , alimentation and tabac more than than caters for everyday essentials . Supermarkets are a few miles drive away . Gill's apartment is first class . Clean , comfortable with every amenity ( including WiFi ) as well as off road parking and a lovely terrace and garden. Gill is always on hand if anything is needed and nothing is ever too much trouble. We have stayed in Gill's apartment on numerous occasions. Every visit has been simply superb. Highly recommended !

prachtig appartement in mooie omgeving!

We hebben een heerlijke week gehad in het appartement van Gill. Het centrum van Sorede met restaurantjes en een paar terrassen is op loopafstand. Het appartement is prachtig en van alle gemakken voorzien. De tuin, die alleen voor ons gebruik was, is heerlijk afgeschermd. Als je ‘s morgens zit te ontbijten op het terras voor de woonkamer, kijk je zo naar de besneeuwde toppen van de Pyreneeën. Op korte afstand van Sorede heb je de stranden van Argeles. Aanraders zijn ook Collioure en Port Vendres. Op twintig minuten rijden is de Spaanse grens en binnen een uur zit je in Font-Romeu, waar je kunt skiën. Kortom er is van alles mogelijk. Voor informatie kun je altijd bij Gill terecht. We hebben het erg leuk gehad en we komen graag nog een keer terug! Wil & Hans K.

Good location for exploring the area-very relaxing

We had a very pleasant week at this lovely apartment. Very private and sunny garden, owner Gill was very helpful and on hand all the time should you need her, and gave very good advice on where to visit and the local area. we had a wonderful time exploring all the area around and down the coast road into Northern Spain, which is a gorgeous route and very picturesque. Will definitely be back again. The apartment is very well fitted and we wanted for nothing at all. Very comfortable bed, and comfortable apartment in general. Relaxing outdoor area, with great views to the mountains, and a lovely sunset, this property is a real home from home. Even has the WIFI I so desperately needed. The local town of Sorede has some lovely restaurants and bars, as do the nearby neighbouring towns. Well served with good supermarkets as well, and beaches at St Cyprien and Argeles Sur Mer are fantastic. Perfect!!

We keep coming back!

We stayed with Gill from 22 March 2012 until 14 April 2012. We will be back for the umpteenth time on October 5th this year. You will not find a better host than Gill and the apartment is of the very highest order and is clean and well-maintained. If you are here in the middle of Summer there are still places in the shade if you move around the beautifully constructed garden which we have watched develop over the years we have been coming here. It is now complete! There is plenty of room for your car at the front of the property and if you fancy trying some jogging there is a circular route from this apartment which equates to 10k. Do this early in the morning before the sun gets too hot. Gill has a couple of bikes which are available should you wish to cycle rather than run. We think the highest recommendation we can give is the fact that we keep coming back!

Ideal base for hoiidays in this region

Does what it says on the tin! Ideal base for longer or shorter holidays in this region. Handy for the coast and the mountains. Half a dozen places to dine out and more a short walk away. Entertainment in the summer too. We enjoy visiting further afield too, Montpelier and Carcassone for example as well as wine tasting, horse riding, sea fishing and even cycling. Everything you need in a tidy apartment with a good owner upstairs if you need any help. Highly recommended.

Most relaxing hoilday

An excellent place to relax and do what you like. Very well equipped flat with everything you need for self catering. You have access to a sun patio with two sun loungers at the rear of the property in the owner's beautiful garden. Gill (the owner) is always on hand to answer any queries and give advice on attractions nearby. She is also an expert on food and can recommend the best restaurants in the village and beyond, e.g. La Roque. Off street parking is available. There are numerous wonderful scenic car journeys in the area or just head for the beaches at Argeles sur Mer, only 10 minutes away. The beautiful town of Collioure is also nearby, as is the Spannish border for a day trip to Figueres, Girona or even Barcelona. The village of Sorede has a quaint square where you can laze about with a beer or glass of wine. The local boulangeries are a 20 minute walk from the property. To sum up, the property is an excellent base for exploring this beautiful Catalan area. The property is very clean and well presented and only a 30 minute drive from Perpignan airport. I fully recommend this property to anyone. We have returned every year for several years now.

PERFECTION - OUR FAVOURITE FRENCH PROPERTY

Actually "perfection" seems inadequate for this property. A ground-floor apartment which the owner maintains to an exceptional standard. The facilities are modern and of a very high specification. The garden has sun all day and is a delight. Whilst respecting your privacy the quite remarkable English owner will assist with any matter, either directly or by phone if out. There are many walks from the house: up into the Alberes or from village to village and the area is ideal for cycling. Sorede, within 5 minutes walk from the house,is a delightfully quiet, compact village nestling at the foot of the Alberes. It has an attractive centre square with a bar and nearby restaurants, one of which is exceptional. All shopping facilities are to hand: butcher, baker etc. and there is a weekly small market. The Mediteranean is approx. 15mins by car and the Spanish border approx. 1 hour. The coast road to Spain is superb: passing through vineyards, picture postcard villages, plus sandy coves ideal for picnics and water activities. Venture afield to historical Cathar castles; Spain and Dali; up into the Pyrenees and perhaps a trip on the little Yellow train. We do recommend this property to family and friends. Next year will be our sixth visit.

Brilliant apartment, A must

Stayed here at begining of november, the apartment was spotless, great position about seven minutes walk sorede village, 15 minute walk into Laroques des alberes. Gill the owner is so helpful and friendly without being over familier, some great recommendation of places to visit, lovely little garden and patio area, private off road parking. Second morning woke up to brilliant views of snow topped mountains out of our window while the weather was still 19 degrees outside, gill guided us upto the ski resort about an hour and twenty minutes away, it was spectacular but the temperature dropped to 4 degrees when we got up there but brilliant sunshine the whole time. Once again thanks to Giil for a lovely winter break.
