We totally enjoyed our stay at the lakefront property. The sunrises and sunsets were spectacular. We had seven of us. The dining room table was ample big for meals and several hours of cards. The bedrooms were ample in size with great views of the lake out the windows. The locations served us well to kayak the Soo Locks and walk the narnia trail near cedarville. The suggestion given to eat at cattail cove was a good suggestion.

Great location for our family vacation! The cabin was plenty big enough for our family and the view is amazing! We especially enjoyed the bird watching! My only comment would be things weren’t super clean upon our arrival - mainly kitchen items (ie. coffee pot) and the living room floor had a decent amount of dog hair all over.

Lovely Home on Lake Huron

My friend and I stayed here for two nights. The home was lovely and had every extra imaginable - lovely decor, waffle maker, games cabinet, water shoes, cozy beds, and wonderful views of the lake (just to name a few). The house was very clean and just as described in the listing. There's a new swing near the shore as well. If we're ever in the area again, we will definitely stay here again. Highly recommend!!

St Ignace Stay

This was an amazing stay that is close to all the best spots of the eastern UP. the house is well maintained and we had no issues at all. Host was good with communication and loved being right on the water for such an amazing price as well. Would love to stay here again

Wonderful stay

The blue cabin was amazing, and our family had an awesome time. The pictures don't do it justice. We stayed there for 2 nights, but we could've easily stayed for more. The water activities are endless for the kids, and the shallow water was great for kayaking, swimming, etc. This cabin is a real treasure, and the family of owners are excellent people.

Amazing Stay

My family and I had an amazing time during our stay. The home is even better than we expected. Very comfortable, very homelike . We saw the most beautiful sunsets from the front porch And the swing by the lake. Highly recommended! The location worked out very well for us For our road trips every day. Thank you!

This property was perfect for us to be able to show off the beautiful landscape of Michigan to our family from down south. The location was perfect for us to do day trips to a few sights of the U.P. and then to relax on the waters edge at the end of the day. It could not have been better.

Great family get away

This property was so thoughtfully stocked and prepped with everything you could possibly need or want. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this home. No wifi was only rough on my 9 year old daughter the rest of us agree it was not an issue. Our only gripe is we couldn’t stay longer. You will not be disappointed

Hessel wooden boat show trip

Rented this for a long weekend so we could attend the Les Cheneaux Hessel Wooden Boat Show. The house was very clean, the view to the lake was beautiful. Easy to find directions and a quick trip with our boat into the show. Our only complaint was with the weather, we missed the warmer days by about 2 days either side of our stay. We would definitely recommend this place and stay they again!

Nice 3 day stay with 3 boys and grandparents

We loved having a view of Lake Huron from every window, the swing out front facing the water. having air conditioning, having a full kitchen, and having two bathrooms. We also loved that there were two canoes for our family to go out on the lake. The bay was very shallow a long distance out so we felt very safe with our younger kids . The water was mucky, but nice and warm. Overall we had a great stay.

Love this gem!

This is the second year my family has stayed in this house and we love it! Lots of character and charm, personal touches from the owners, plenty of space, comfortable beds and the location cannot be beat! The online pictures don’t do this place justice. Perfect space for a family. Rent this one, you will love it.

We’ll be back!

This was truly one of the best places we’ve stayed on vacation! We always camp at the Straits in St. I and this was the first time we rented a house and we will definitely rent it again!!! There were 8 of us and we had plenty of space. The fully stocked kitchen is indeed, fully stocked!! Everything we needed was provided, it was a very relaxing time! Watching the bald eagles fly by every morning was just a super fabulous bonus! We truly enjoyed the little blue cottage and will definitely rent again!!

UP Getaway

This was our first visit to the UP, and we couldn't have been happier with this lovely home. It was spacious, clean, and tastefully decorated. The views from every window were amazing! We enjoyed sitting on the back porch to watch the sea birds and geese fly overhead and to see the Mighty Mac in the distance. This was a great "home base" for us to explore the beauty and several of the attractions of the UP. We were very happy with this rental home and highly recommend it and the area to others. Thank you for sharing it with our family!

Outside of home does not look like photo. It needs work. No lawn. Goose poop everywhere. The home inside was as shown in photo. We enjoy being outside and the yard was a mess.

Great Weekend Away!

Had a great weekend at the cottage! Found many local things to do, even though it seems like the surrounding area "rolls in the sidewalks" for the winter. When the weather was just right, you have great view of the bridge right from the porch. Everything was as expected from the listing, if not better. Home was very clean and comfortable. The hosts definately make you feel like you are right at home from having the fireplace ready to go to a cupboard full of board games. Rooms are very specious and offer wonderful views of the water (when it's not frozen and covered with a couple feet of snow!!). As expected with the UP during the winter the road had a little bit of a rough terrain with the freshly fallen snow, nothing my Jeep couldn't handle...but was quickly plowed by the neighbor the next morning. We only had one car, but there is plenty of parking for more. Would recommend this cottage 100%, owners were great to deal with and returned the deposit very quickly.

Waterfront Cottage

Such a cozy comfortable cottage! Relaxing homey decor and calm quiet location; house is right on the water. Such a joy to look out across St. Martin's Bay. The bay is very shallow and we saw a bald eagle fishing! Lots of diving ducks too. Great binoculars provided upstairs and downstairs. Far far away in the distance you can see Mackinac Island, and also the Mackinac Bridge, all lighted up at night. We just loved gazing out on the water stretching far off into the distance, with the colors always changing with the ever-changing light on the water. We even made use of one of the canoes for an extra-special adventure! Gorgeous stars at night, the sky is nice and dark (except of course when the moon is casting her beautiful shining diamonds upon the water). Inside there is lots of cool lake decor, including cute dishes shaped like fish. There is a big refrigerator and freezer, very nice new stove, excellent coffee maker too. Fun signs with quotes and lake themes throughout the house. Original paintings as well! Wonderful porch for sitting and watching the waves. The lawn was lovely and green for our visit. This is such a great laid-back type of place to come relax and enjoy the beauty of Lake Huron and lovely St. Martin's Bay. Thank you for having us back again! We definitely hope to return!

The house right on the shores of Lake Huron worked great for our family of 5. The weather was raining and foggy and the views were still good. Location was great to able to explore Mackinac Island and Sault Ste Marie. Would absolutely stay again.

Brought my father, son, friend, and my lab Kaia up to the UP for an opening weekend of waterfowl hunting. The house was beautiful, but the view was amazing. Very easy processes, everything was available that we needed to enjoy. Would highly recommend and we will definitely be back again!!!

We built this cabin in 1982 and have been enjoying it ever since! It has been the perfect family spot. However, because we do not get a chance to use it as much as we would like to, we look at this as an opportunity to share our home away from home with others.

Why they chose this property

We love St. Martin's Bay! We love that this 'secluded' location is still only 2 miles from the expressway (I-75) and within 20 minutes of St. Ignace and Cedarville! We love that you can bring your ATV's out here and not have any issues (and be right next to some of the best trails in the EUP). We love that the cottage is off the beaten path and that it's not 'Too nice' to stay in, but rather, 'very comfortable'. Mostly, we love that one can be as active or inactive as they want!

What makes this property unique

There are so many things to see and do in this area! Knowing that you can leave from the cottage on an ATV, a bicycle or in a car and be able to hit a trail or a main highway is a very unique thing! So, why not take advantage of the opportunity to stay at the 'VanKamp' and make your own memories.
Being so close to the area attractions is an added bonus! Many of our past guests visit Mackinac Island, Tahquamenon Falls, and many other attractions within a few days.
