About this property
Hammy on a Rye 2 Hammondsport NY
There have been professional photos done by the Airbnb photographer, and they are finally here! This is the 2nd Hammy on a Rye right next door to the original Hammy on a Rye started almost 4 yrs ago. This is similar in size and layout as the other home. It has two king-size bedrooms, 2 full baths, a kitchen, a dining room, a living room, laundry, and central air. There is also plenty of off-street parking available. We are putting together the gas firepit and seating now
This is a fairly large rental with 1400 sq feet. It has two king size bedrooms with streaming TVs , two full baths, laundry, kitchen fully stocked with all your cooking utensils needed, living room with streaming TV, and two porches to sit on. It is only 1 1/2 blocks from the Hammondsport Village Square with lots of shops, dining, park area, drug store, grocery store, and liquor store. It is also 4 blocks from Keuka Lake swimming area.
The guests have the entire unit to themselves. The other 1/2 of the house is rented, and the tenant has no access to their side of the home. The guest enters in the door facing Pulteney St with a key pad.
I live right next door on Pulteney St, and I am always available via phone or text. You may see me outside attending to the flowers or the snow, depending on the time of year.
This is a residential neighborhood on 3 sides and a historical building on the 4th side across the street and water sluice. It is 1 1/2 blocks from the downtown Village of Hammondsport.
I have 3 spots of off-street parking, and the house is within walking distance, 1 1/2 blocks, from the village businesses. It is also 6 blocks from the swimming area at Keuka Lake.
The door you will enter in is on the Pulteney Street side of the home near the ample parking area.
Things to know about the house. The door is coming in on the Pulteney Street side of the house, which is your main entrance.
Kitchen: The kitchen is stocked with coffee, tea, hot chocolate, creamer, sugar, and sugar substitutes in the cabinets to the left of the door coming. There are plenty of coffee cups and mugs also. The coffee pot is on the counter along with the blender. In the cabinet below, there is a selection of pots and pans. In the cabinets next to these are a collection of wine glasses, drinking glasses, and more baking items in the cabinets below.
Kitchen closet: There are three garbage cans that are labeled as garbage, recyclable, and returnable bottles and cans. We donate the bottles and cans to the local Hammondsport Fire Department. Also in the closet is extra TP, paper towels, vacuum cleaners (upright and handheld), broom, and Swiffer. There is also an electric griddle and electric skillet. There are also flashlights available for your use.
Kitchen contains:
Dishwasher-the pods are under the sink.
Electric stove-4 burner with oven. There are more pots and pans in the storage drawer below.
Microwave with exhaust fan for the oven
Fridge with ice maker in the freezer
There are plates above the sink, kitchen towels, cookbooks, hot pads, dish drainer, and some cleaning supplies located in the area around the sink.
Dining room- has seating for 4 with an extra 2 chairs available if needed. The two buffets have plenty of serving trays and an ice bucket available for your use.
Living room has seating for 4 people with a coffee table, two end tables, a desk, 60” smart TV set up with Amazon, Netflix, HBO, and various other channels. The fireplace is operated with the remote on top of it.
Bathroom downstairs - This is a full bath with shower, sink, commode, and washer and dryer. There is soap, fabric softener, dryer sheets, and bleach in the small white cabinet behind the door. There are plenty of towels, hand towels, and washing clothes for your use. We do provide some shampoo, conditioner, and soap in the shower also. We also have a fire aide kit in the sink area with an extra toothbrush and toothpaste if you have forgotten yours. The closet contains laundry baskets for your use, and there is also an ironing board next to the washer and dryer with the iron in the small white cabinet.
Stairs: The house was originally built in 1860, and the stairs are narrow and at different widths. Therefore, please be careful and use the handrail when using. We have put grips on the stair tops to help, but just understand they are sometimes challenging. There is a two-way light at the bottom and top that lights up the stairs.
Bedrooms-They are both king-size beds with nightstands, lights on stands, clock on ones, tissues, and 4 pillows for each bed. There are TVs in each bedroom. One of the TVs is a smart TV with only one remote and the other (a bit older) has a Roku attached with two remotes. They both work great and have the same Icons installed as the downstairs TV. The overhead lights are a fan/light combo that can also be controlled with the pull strings. The other lights over the beds are dimmable. The shades are blackout shades for light control in both bedrooms. There are also plenty of dressers, mirrors, and a clothing hanger for your convenience and use. Each room has plenty of books to enjoy. Please feel free to take one if you start it and want to finish it, or please feel free to add one you finish and want to pass forward.
Bathroom upstairs: This is a full bath also with shower, double sink, and commode. There is a fan light combo and light over the commode on the same switch. The mirror is controlled on the mirror itself with light and warming for steam. The window has a blur covering in addition to the shade for privacy. The doors are pocket doors, and the locking mechanism is on the opposite side of the door from the handle. Once the door is closed, you activate the locking mechanism, which then blocks the door from being opened from the outside. The locks on the handles did not work well, so we installed additional locks for privacy. There are plenty of towels and extra bedding for your convenience in the cabinet opposite the mirror.
Highspeed:
Outside: There are two covered porches. One facing Church St (shared with the tenant next door) and one facing Pulteney St, which is only for your side. There is also a gas firepit outside with 4 additional Adirondak chairs. We also have a gas grill for you to use outside as well. There are also grilling utensils in the kitchen for your use. There is a motion light on the porch facing Pulteney Street and you will need to keep the light switch in the on position if you want it to work when you are outside or pulling in the parking lot. There are also ashtrays on both porches for your use as there is no smoking inside the house. We have a small yard for your dogs and in addition the grassy area across the street but please be sure to pick up after your dog and put it in the garbage can so that it is clean for all the neighbors to walk their furry friends. There is a dog park available also on Route 54 in Hammondsport across from the Glenn Curtiss Museum.
Parking area: The long stretch of blacktop on the Pulteney St side of the house running parallel to the other Hammy on a Rye. We will have a sign signifying this area. The other spot, which is close to the porch, is for 8 Church St tenant only. Parking is a premium here in Hammondsport, so please be sure to pull your cars in back-to-back, and there should be enough parking in that long area for 3 vehicles. Thank you.
Neighborhood: This is a residential neighborhood with people living all around us. The quiet hours are 10:00 PM, and after outside and inside, just be respectful of the other tenant on the other side of the house for noise.
The Village: There are several shops, restaurants, Maloney’s Pub, The Wine Bar, grocery store, liquor store, post office, library, pharmacy, auto parts, park area with music on Thursdays in the summer, and the Village Chamber office at your disposal within walking distance. (1 ½ blocks away). Keuka Lake is 4 blocks away, and the public swimming area is there.
Electric cars: If you have an electric car that needs to be charged, we ask that you not charge the car at our house but at the gas station on Route 54 coming into Hammondsport. If you need to use the electricity at the house, there will be a $10 per day charge added to the price of the stay. Thank you.
