About this property
So Close to the Shoreline, You’re Part of the Experience!
Summer is when Water’s Edge truly comes alive.
From the moment the morning sun rises over Holmes Harbor, the water begins to sparkle and the shoreline comes to life. Eagles soar overhead, herons patrol the water’s edge, seals lazily sun themselves on the neighboring floating dock, and the ever-changing harbor provides a front-row seat to the natural beauty that makes Whidbey Island so special.
Unlike many properties that offer a distant water view, Water’s Edge places you directly on nearly 101 feet of low-bank waterfront with deeded tidelands. Here, you’re not simply looking at the water — you’re immersed in it. Morning coffee comes with harbor views. Afternoon conversations unfold to the rhythm of the tide. Evenings are spent watching the changing colors reflect across the bay as the sun settles into another spectacular Northwest summer day.
One of the things guests love most is how quickly life begins to slow down here. The noise, schedules, and pressures of everyday life seem to fade into the background. Instead, days become filled with simple pleasures: watching wildlife from the deck, strolling the shoreline, exploring the island, sharing meals with family and friends, and ending the evening with a glass of wine while the harbor glows in the last light of day.
Water’s Edge is equally suited for a romantic getaway, a family vacation, or a relaxing retreat with close friends. Children are often captivated by the shoreline, wildlife, and endless opportunities to explore, while adults appreciate the peace, privacy, and opportunity to reconnect with the people who matter most.
Some of the most meaningful memories are created in simple moments. A child discovering something fascinating along the beach. A family sharing breakfast overlooking the water. Friends lingering on the deck long after sunset. Years from now, those moments may be remembered far more vividly than the details of everyday life. Water’s Edge has a way of creating the kind of experiences that stay with people long after they return home.
Despite its peaceful waterfront setting, Water’s Edge is conveniently located near Freeland’s restaurants, shops, grocery stores, parks, and island activities, making it easy to enjoy both relaxation and adventure during your stay.
Whether you’re planning a long summer vacation or a spontaneous waterfront escape from Seattle or the surrounding area, Water’s Edge offers something increasingly difficult to find: space to breathe, room to reconnect, and the chance to experience Whidbey Island from the edge of the water itself.
Many guests choose to extend their stay once they experience the slower rhythm of island life. Reduced weekday rates and savings on week-long stays make it possible to enjoy more time on the waterfront while creating lasting memories with family and friends. Please Note: Water’s Edge is currently on the market. While showings are infrequent, there may occasionally be a request to view the home during your stay. Any showing would be arranged well in advance, coordinated directly with you, and only with your approval. Your comfort, privacy, and enjoyment of the property remain our priority.

Thank you so much for the kind review. I’m really glad you enjoyed your stay and were able to take in those peaceful sunrises over the water. It’s one of my favorite things about Waters Edge as well. You were wonderful guests, and I would be happy to host you again anytime you want another Whidbey Island escape.
The house was beautiful and equipped with all the essentials! It was clean and the host was available to answer any questions! Would definitely stay here again!

And throughout my whole interaction with you, Karna, I felt how kind you are. I really enjoyed our communications and how accommodating and appreciative you were.
I understand it was supposed to be a big "Friends Weekend", but all of you sure left it in great shape. I would love to host you in any ones you choose to bring with you again.
Exceptional location. I have stayed on many parts of Whidbey but never Freeland. And I have to say that next time I come back to the island I will make sure to see if this house is available. Came to house to relax for a long weekend, and I did just that by watching seals, porpoises, eagles, and herons all day. The house was very comfortable and fit our needs perfectly. The owner was great to work with and went out of her way to ensure we had an enjoyable stay. Highly recommend the house! 10/10
Quiet, spacious house right on the waters edge. Ample room to move around. Our host was great to deal with, easy to reach out to. Close to amenities if you need anything. We enjoyed our girls weekend at the house!
Our host went above and beyond to make sure that our stay was exceptional. Our flights were delayed, and she met us there late in the evening to make sure we were able to get in without issue. We missed the last restaurant, so she even gave us some of her groceries to tide us over, since we had missed dinner. The house itself has a gorgeous view of the bay, eagles, herons, osprey, seals. Beautiful sunrises, and while right in Freeland just a few blocks from restuarants and the grocery, the setting feels private. The outdoor covered garden was in full bloom, and there was plenty of driveway space for easy turn around. The house was clean, and there were quality linens. The kitchen was fully stocked, and we prepared several meals, nothing was missing. Would definitely stay here again and a return trip. And yes, we did see a humpback whale in Langley, lovely visit, supported by a most gracious host.

Thank you, Eric, for such a thoughtful and generous review.
It was a pleasure hosting you during your return visit to Whidbey Island. I’m so glad that despite the travel delays, you were able to settle in comfortably and enjoy your time at Water’s Edge.
One of the things I love most about this property is how it combines peaceful waterfront living with easy access to Freeland’s restaurants, shops, and island activities. I’m delighted that you enjoyed the wildlife, gardens, sunrises, and all the little details that make this place special.
And what a wonderful bonus to spot a humpback whale during your visit! Experiences like that create memories that last a lifetime.
Thank you again for your kind words and for being such wonderful guests. You are welcome back anytime, and I hope your daughter’s wedding weekend was everything your family hoped it would be.
Warm Regards,
Lori
Awesome location, great views and abundance of wildlife. We loved each sunrise, and the harbor seals were amazing. The host was a great communicator during the entire process. Although she is new to the VRBO processes, she took the time to contact us to make sure we were able to access the property and that everything was in working order,

You and your husband were absolutely wonderful to host. And it was precious to meet that handsome new grandson of yours, along with your son and D-I-L.
It warms our heart to know Water's Edge was able to provide you a magical place to stay, as well as, a truly spectacular venue to host your Island Family.
And...You and your husband were such gracious, respectful and fun guests. Next time let's plan to share that bottle of wine you offered. Till we meet again, Take care and Happy Holidays!
The host, Lori, was very thorough and kind. The house was clean and had a beach theme which was apropos for the area. The kitchen was large and easy to prepare meals. We only accessed the 1st level during our stay as we were only two people staying though if you had more friends and family traveling with you, this house could easily accommodate 6 people comfortably…as there are two bedrooms upstairs, 1.5 baths, and the upstairs has an additional living area for those guests. Overall it is a 3/2.5 with two living spaces and 2 eating areas. We enjoyed the ample windows with peaceful views of the bay. The wildlife gave us quite the show which included bald eagles, ospreys, blue herons, seals, dolphins and a plethora of other birds enjoying their habitat. The house was located directly on the bay. It was also close to the main town area and minutes away from the local supermarket and restaurants. For those interested in visiting the Whidbey Island area, this is a peaceful place to be, small town feel, and this house provided a quiet and peaceful/restful time away from our typical hustle and bustle lives. Thanks again, Lori! We enjoyed our time on the Island.

About the host
Hosted by Lori Sterley
Ever since the family vacations in Birch Bay growing up, I have been drawn to the water. The call of the bird, the honk of the seals, the majestic flight of the Eagles… there’s always plenty of activity.
So when I found this place, when I found Waters Edge, it called out loud to me.
And I get to share it with you.
Why they chose this property
Waters Edge is so close to town and yet so very private. We are 30 feet from the waters edge so the neighbors on each side are further back. It’s a long deep lot with 101 lineal feet of waterfront. Private and yet convenient.
What makes this property unique
Before living at Waters Edge I used to think when the tide was in was the best part of the day.
Now I know it’s when the tide is out that there’s all the activity of nature. It’s just so wonderful to see.
