Take in gorgeous SF Bay views, while relaxing on the private deck. Explore outstanding hiking trails just minutes away. And visit Montclair Village, with grocery stores, lovely boutique shops, a fantastic Farmer's Market on Sundays, and great restaurants!

For those who need to work or study, make full use of your separate office space, complete with desk and WiFi!

New queen-size bed with firm mattress.

Full bathroom with tub/shower, heated towel rack, hair dryer, and extra amenities

Fully-stocked kitchenette (sink, mini-fridge, microwave, toaster oven, rice-cooker, electric kettle, coffee maker, blender). Aluminum foil, plastic wrap, plates, silverware, serving dishes, basic cooking needs (olive oil, salt pepper etc.), coffee and tea are all supplied – everything you need to cook simple meals in-house if you prefer.

Dining room table and tablecloths/mats.

Living room area with large couch and an assortment of books and indoor games. Huge selection of videos for DVD.

Closets with ample hanging and storage space. Skylights in the main studio and office.

Private Office.

Pet-free space.

You will probably need a car as we live in the hills of Oakland. Ample parking on the street. There are also plenty of Uber and Lyft drivers in the area.

Major freeways are close. Drive times to major destinations:
- 4 minutes to Rt. 13
- 8 minutes to Rockridge BART
- 10 minutes to downtown Oakland
- 12 minutes to Cal Berkeley
- 20 minutes to San Francisco

We live on the property. Access to the studio/office is via a separate entrance so you have complete privacy.

We are a busy working couple. We will try to greet you if we can but we never disturb you once you are inside, and never enter the studio while you are here (unless requested). Feel free to knock on our back (kitchen) door if you need anything, or hear us and would like to say hello!

Through the gate you will be greeted by a beautiful garden. The studio is at the back of the garden.

As you can see in the photos, there are a few steps up to the studio that are a bit uneven -- "landscaped" style stairs. For our elderly guests, be advised that there is no railing. The pathway is lit at night.

The studio/office entrance is through the office door, on the right of the back building. Enter the studio from the office.

The lock box will provide you a key to the front door. Please remember to leave the key when you depart at the end of your stay.

We didn't want to leave! The home was clean, comfortable, private and the host went above and beyond with amenities providing snacks, fruit, drinks. Anything needed was there and the outdoor seating areas were so beautiful and relaxing with hummingbirds everywhere! Would absolutely recommend!

Excellent studio apartment for a stay in the oakland Hills

Great bed, thoughtfully furnished studio apartment, bigger than most studios. Outdoor spaces are beautiful, gardens and birds! The owners have thought of everything you might need, and it is there. Very private. Definitely will return if available for our next visits to the area.

Perfect spot!

Absolutely loved the cabin. Tucked away in a beautiful garden area, lots of privacy. The cabin itself is very well appointed and has everything you need and more for a relaxing stay. Will definitely stay here again next time I have a need to be in the East Bay!

Beautiful Cottage in the Pines

This is a wonderful place to stay with all of the comforts of home! This is a detached cottage in the back yard that feels secluded and private. Very clean and very comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and will not hesitate to book again when in the area! Thank you Catherine and Scott.

Wonderful visit!

We usually stay with our daughter's family in Oakland, but decided to try this cottage for a few days. It was like a vacation within a vacation! They have thought of everything, and we were so impressed with the cleanliness, the quiet, the furnishings, and just the overall peace and beauty. Added bonus: the village of Monclair is charming, too. Truly a great stay.

Charming, Cozy with Beautiful Views!

Communication was good. Check in was easy and accommodations were perfect for our needs. This bungalow was very well appointed, charming and cozy. We had everything we needed for a wonderful stay. The property is gorgeous, and has beautiful views. Very close to restaurants and shops, but also quiet and peaceful. Highly recommended!

Couldn’t have been better!

This was our second stay in two months and absolutely love it! It is a gorgeous location with easy access to all things Oakland and Piedmont. Montclair has some great coffee spots and eateries! The cottage has a beautiful view and all the extras anyone might need. Fabulous!

A Total Dream

Better then a hotel. The views... the drive. Our first day we saw deer. This house gave me and my husband the privacy we wanted and was still close to local shops and restaurants. Everyone was super friendly and we will want to stay again.

Another Wonderful Visit

This is one of our favorite getaway places. It is just minutes from Monclair Village in one direction, and majestic redwoods in the other. The cottage has any amenity you will need, and even more that you won't! Always our number one when we visit our family in Oakland.

Hidden Gem in the Berkeley Hills

Great location in the Berkely hills, quiet, nestled in the cypress trees. Clean, well-appointed apartment. Catherine was very attentive and communicated well throughout the stay. If you are looking for a private space where you can work, lounge and sleep this is the place for you! Only suggestion is if you plan on arriving after dark confirm the check-in details ahead of time as it is a bit challenging to navigate if you haven't been there before.

Comfy cottage in the hills

I cannot say enough about staying at this beautiful cottage in the hills of Oakland. The views were amazing but remember staying in the hills means driving some steep, winding roads. Note this cottage has it all; outside cafe table and patio, all sorts of creature comforts like snacks and great blankets for the cool nights. The bed is cozy and no toiletries are required because even the bath is fully stocked. We stayed a week and still didn't want to leave and go home. I highly recommend!!

Terrific place to stay!

I can't say enough good things about this property and the hosts. The property is located on the hosts' property, but it felt completely private. The place was immaculate and had many extra touches that made it feel more like a home. It's not a big place, just big enough for two people, but perfect for a single person or a couple. The hosts were extremely helpful when I accidentally left my Google Assistant there. The home is in the Oakland Hills near the Redwood Regional Park, so if you're a hiker or biker, you're near one of the most fabulous parks in the Bay area. I highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a place to stay in the Bay area.

Cozy cottage

The minute we walked in the door, the cottage felt comfortable and familiar. The cottage is thoughtfully stocked for all guests. The location is great, just a short drive from Montclair Village. We used UBER a few times and never had to wait for than 10 minutes for our ride. The view from the deck at sunset is truly beautiful. The area is very quiet and we often had to remind ourselves that there was a big ,busy city just down the road. Catherine is an amazing hostess with a great attention to detail. We very much appreciated the detailed information left for us about the cottage as well as things to do and see in the area. We would highly recommend Piedmont Pines.

I had a fantastic stay! The place was even better than described, and I already knew that I loved the area, having stayed in the same vicinity the week prior. But this place was so nice, so quiet. A wonderfully-landscaped property, privacy galore, and everything I could possibly want, in terms of accommodations. Everything from heated towels to a nice entertainment system for watching TV, incredibly comfortable bed and pillows, and even a stocked fridge with drinks and granola and so many other little details & things that were so thoughtfully provided. If you plan to take rideshares and not drive, it can be a little pricey, because you are up on a nice hill overlooking the bay, about a 15 minute drive to downtown oakland, and about a 45 minute drive into The City. I did a combination of driving myself during the day, and ride shares at night to go to concerts, which was the reason I was there, and it worked out great. I would highly recommend staying here again, and probably will try to stay here again myself.

I am from England but have lived in the US for over 30 years. Many of those years in NYC and now in the Bay Area. I work for a nonprofit helping purpose-driven young leaders find careers with impact, and my husband works in the online world. I love to hike and garden - we have a very large garden that needs considerable attention. There are dozens of amazing hiking trails just five minutes up the road along Skyline Drive. We enjoy the theater, museums, movies, urban environments and cooking. We have recently become empty-nesters which was hard but are getting used to it!

Living in the Bay Area we are fortunate to be able to escape to beautiful places for a couple of days, such as Yosemite, Sonoma and Tahoe. We love to travel, but we are also very aware that living here is idyllic. You can't beat the weather!

As a host we like to let our guests enjoy total privacy. If they want to ask us for anything we are available, but for the most part we leave our guests alone. We have a lovely deck where guests can hang out and enjoy the view (and the stars).
