About this property
Hip Flat. Iconic Downtown. Walk to Pike Place Market.
We call this lovely flat the Jewel Box. Filled with charm and all you need for a fabulous extended urban experience. The windows open onto a courtyard, letting in light and shielding you from city noise. Step outside and it’s a quick walk to the sites, great dining, music and more. This first floor condo includes air conditioning and is 2.5 blocks from Whole Foods and 1 block from an Amazon Go, the ultimate in contact free shopping. We have weekly and monthly discounts to make an extended stay affordable. Bookings of 28+ days avoid the 10% city hotel taxes, this is just the law but knowing can save you.
Location, location, location! This is the perfect home-base for your Seattle visit. Built in 1922 and converted to condos in 2007, the building offers a touch of charming character in our high-tech city. We think of the studio as our “Jewel Box". With windows opening onto an interior courtyard, it’s light-filled and quiet – a good retreat at the end of a long day of site-seeing or meetings. Veteran travelers ourselves, we’ve equipped our “pied a terre” to maximize the urban experience.
We've made coordinating check-in a breeze with a conveniently located lock box that allows you to pick up the keys on your schedule. We'll send you instructions and the lock box code 72 hours before your arrival.
To help you plan your visit, we'll email the New York Times 36 Hours in Seattle (customized with our hometown insight) along with your booking confirmation. Once you arrive, our robust guestbook is filled with suggestions on how to enjoy Seattle (including thoughts on getting around, where to eat and how to find a drop in yoga class), so you’ll have the local perspective at your finger tips during your stay.
The Jewel Box is in a pretty perfect location. Here’s what you’ll find on a 10 minute walk:
• Stroll North and you’ll be at the Seattle Center, featuring the Space Needle, Pacific Science Center, Key Arena and Experience Music Project. The Gates Foundation is just across the street.
• Head South and you’ll be at the flagship Nordstrom store, Zara and a ton of great shopping. You’ll also find the Washington Convention Center in this direction.
• Meander West and you’ll be on your way to Pike Place Market, the Seattle Art Museum, the Great Wheel, Seattle Aquarium and the Ferry Terminal (take a ride to Winslow an enjoy the views and village).
• Walk East and in four blocks you’ll be at the center of high tech Seattle – Amazon, Microsoft and a number of innovative start ups have offices here. Plus a slew of great restaurants.
Dining.
Seattle is a very foodie town and within a block and a half of Swallow's Rest, you’ll be spoiled for choice. (and the flagship Top Pot Doughnuts is just 20 steps from the building’s front door). If you want to dine in, there are three grocery stores within walking distance – including a Whole Foods.
With a Walk Score of 99, you truly can get just about everywhere on foot.
We don’t recommend renting a car for your visit – you can grab a cab at the airport or take the Link light rail to the Westlake station (35 minutes/$3) and you’re 4 blocks from the condo. If you do drive, there’s a parking garage half a block away with competitive overnight rates.
To explore Seattle’s other neighborhoods – Ballard, Capital Hill, Fremont, Madison Park and more – try Uber or (website hidden) any of these options:
• South Lake Union Streetcar (2 blocks away)
• Trip planning, King Country Metro (bus stops nearby)
If you want to explore outside the city, Avis, Hertz, Enterprise and Budget all have offices within walking distance. Great day trips include wine tasting in Woodinville or visiting Port Townsend, The Ho Rainforest and Mount Rainier.

Hello! My bride, Lynn and I are Seattle natives and former expats who love to travel. Having ‘local’ experiences is always our goal and we’re looking forward to sharing our hometown knowledge with visitors here for both business and pleasure. Our suggestions for what to do on rainy days, where to find the best craft cocktails and not to missed views are captured in our guest book.
