Our stay was truly wonderful. The host was incredibly responsive and kind, which made everything feel easy and welcoming from the start. We absolutely loved how spacious the property was and being right on the water made it even more special. The home was spotless, warm, and so inviting,it comfortably accommodated our entire family and gave us the perfect place to relax and make memories together. We are so grateful for the experience and will absolutely be renting from them again.

We booked this property to getaway from the city and enjoy a peaceful Father's Day Weekend. The accommodations were perfect for our group. The beds were comfortable, plenty of sitting areas inside and outside by the lake. We loved the stay!
What great hosts great house beautiful views everything we needed definitely recommend bringing the family plenty of room learn how to ski Barefoot Ski what a great bunch of people stores right down the street Lake Weir right across the street you have the best in the world to show you how to get on that water and have some fun thank you again guys
Nicely appointed place. Clean and central to the activities we had in mind. Friendly host. Kitchen stocked with plenty of dishes and pots and pans for cooking.
This property is just like the listing. The house was clean and comfortable. Owners were very helpful with recommendations for dining and hiking. They were all very friendly and went out of their way to be sure we had anything we needed. Beautiful lake in a quiet neighborhood. My husband and I definitely recommend this property for families or couples. We stayed for 2 weeks and would rent again!
I had my whole family from 78 years to 9 months old. It was perfect. Lots of space, privacy, and just an overall great location. I wasn’t sure how having someone on site would be but it was fine. He was there if you needed him but we never saw him otherwise except when we checked in and when we left! My family is already asking to rebook!
Perfect place to stay if you are visiting Santos mountain bike park!
So glad we found Don's place to stay at during our weekend trip to the Santos Fat Tire Festival. Lots of parking behind the house so we never worried about bikes and gear in the trucks. Plus, having the huge lawn, right on the lake, was perfect for the kids. Don is an extremely good host. The house is only 10 minutes from the Santos park. We will definitely be back for the biking, and the BAREFOOTING!! Thanks for getting me back up on my "feet" after more than 20 years Don!! Your rock!!
I picked this VRBO for the lake. I wanted to be on a lake where we could, if the moment struck us, go take a dip in the lake. I also wanted a place where my family in the Ocala area could come and visit and stay overnight if possible. I got what I wanted.
Our hosts, are barefoot skiers and you can tell they love it and want to share it. So they gave my husband a chance to try skiing on the lake for free. He enjoyed it.
The lake was one of the smaller lakes and we had no concerns about gators or such. Don told us that in the past 5-6 years he has not heard anything about any alligators. This put my mind at ease. There were otters. We did not see the otters, just the evidence of otters of spent mussel shells. We also saw Sandhill cranes.
There was a canoe available for use. My nieces were able to try their hand at going out on the lake. Another day my husband explored the lake in the canoe. Don pointed out things of interest that my spouse might like to explore while out on the water.
The house was big enough to host 3 or 4 extra family members for dinner. I am sorry we did not have enough time (or energy.... so much to do) to do any grilling on the deck. The kitchen is decently stocked to make dinner and the Publix isn't too far of a car ride from the house.
Don lives on the other side of the shared laundry room in a little apartment. We didn't hear him and I'm guessing he didn't hear our very loud son. So I felt that we had our privacy.
All in all it was a wonderful stay.
Was little worried at first because of having young ones with us and Don lives right next door in a little apartment
But he was great! Really enjoyed the stay!
Our family has always been “water people”. Our children were riding kneeboards before they could walk and dragging on the boom to eventually learn to barefoot. This lake and home provided the perfect setting to train the next generation of grandkids. The home was clean and well stocked. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Our host was very responsive and even notified us of early check in which gave us another full day of fun. Can’t wait to return.
We had a great weekend here and loved the place and all its charm. The property manager was great and was fun to talk to about his barefoot waterskiing.
The house was just as represented. The property and lake was nice and quiet with very little activity except for some occasional water skiing - which was fun to watch. We really enjoyed the host (who lives adjacent to the house) and the neighbors. Good people.
This was a very comfortable property to stay on. All one level, plenty of seating, inside and out. Beautiful views, very functional kitchen, and clean and well kept bedrooms and baths.
The hosts were very friendly and informative.
I would book again
Don was a very gracious host. We had an added bonus of a personal barefoot water skiing exhibition that he and a friend put on. We had a group of 7 seniors staying at the property as part of a golf trip to the Villages. The property met our needs.
The rental wasn't quit what we expected but then going to an unknown (and this was our first), expectations are always high.
The house was exactly what we needed - a place to sleep- my sister has a home in The Villages so that is where we spent most of our time.
I may suggest that more cupboard and closet space be left empty for renters. We were there 9 days and I had lots of "stuff". And of course the microwave that didn't work and had no handle. That was OK with us since we didn't need to use it. And I should mention the bed we slept on had a waterproof mattress pad on it so was like sleeping in a plastic bag. Not so good.
We had a wonderful visit to Florida and hope to return soon.

Don was super easy to work with and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was great.

About the host

The three of us all own & rent out properties in Florida, Indiana, Wisconsin and Canada.
Why they chose this property
It is a large property that is secluded and has plenty of privacy. We found this property is next to a legendary Barefoot water skier friend and had a vision to rehabilitate and restore property for the three owners & welcomed guests to enjoy.
What makes this property unique
Spacious lake front 1963 brick home has a workable layout to accommodate large groups if needed. The property has a large front yard & secure fenced in back yard with lots of room for parking and a nice lake view on private Bowers lake that has two Palm trees by the sandy shore and fresh water to recreate in or relax while viewing.
